Its crazy just how much difference a clean bumper makes. I painted my 30 year old toyoytas bumper a couple years ago. It was just surface rust so I sanded and painted it, made a whole new truck!

I have an 09 absoulutely no rust ..same color make and model ..i also live in the great state of Texas.
It's because people don't take care of their vehicles. I have a 2013 same model and no rust. Live in northern Indiana with plenty of winter salt. See plenty of all brands, but especially older Chevy, with totally eaten out wheel wells and cab corners.

I have a 2008 F150 with plenty of rust on the wheel wells and both original bumpers and drivers side nerf bar. I already replaced the rear bumper but I have to do the rusty front one now...
How different is the 2008 front bumper replacement than what we see here? No videos here on YT about the 2004-08 Front bumper replacement....
Are the front bumpers adjustable? My neighbor just got one and you can see the sides seem a little off

Yep, mine is a 2013 fx2, live in Canada, mine was just that bad in 2016 and they wouldn't fix it at all during bumper to bumper warranty. They said it has to have an actual HOLE in the rust... For them to do anything about it... Shame.

Would you be able to sand those bumpers down and fill them and repaint them? I am sure that the time to do that wouldnt be cost effective but if time wasnt a factor? Thanks.

I bought rear bumper panels off the internet that were already primed black. I had a autobody shop paint them and they are rusting after 2 years. How is this any better?
The real question is who painted it and was it base/clear coat or single stage. For example if you had it "professionally" painted at Maaco and you got it in single stage, they only warranty it for a year or less for a reason

i have a 2014 and the same thing is happening. i agree with you, shame on ford.
It's not Ford, it's the owner that doesn't wash the salt off or keep it waxed. Ford could make it out of stainless steel but you wouldn't pay the price.

what you've got is environmentally friendly water based lacquer......it is SHIT.....a prime example is the rear fenders on 2008 +/- escapes. It's like they put teflon on the bumpers you can't keep paint on them......I have a 2004 that has ZERO rust on the bumpers and it's been driven around Ontario and Quebec for 14 years......
My PDR guy doesn't for $75 a piece and comes to me
If you're painting it, might as well just strip the rusted bumper and repaint it, why spend money on new parts

Guess its luck of the draw. My bed is almost half gone from rust but still my bumpers are not bad.
