  • On a chilly winter evening, Ralph discovered a cat waiting at his doorstep, wanting to be let in. He had no idea this meeting would lead to a beautiful surprise from the cat. While taking a break to make hot chocolate, Ralph never thought he'd find a guest at his door. The night was freezing, with strong winds and snow expected by morning. Walking by the front door, he noticed a cat looking in through the glass, silently meowing. When it saw Ralph, it gently tapped the glass with its paw to greet him and ask for entry.

In 2021 I got a cat named Lily who was starving in my neighbor’s stone wall. My neighbor brought her down to my house. She was feral. So I spoon fed her as a way to imprint on her. I also kissed her on her head. She’s a wonderful cat. My 1 year old nephew kisses my cat too. I’m glad that Lily likes to be kissed too.

We have 5 cats. The oldest, a calico, is now 15 years old and she claims me as her human. Then Sox came to live with us as a small kitten when our daughter could only handle one cat, her sister CiCI. When a neighbor died my wife came back from the estate sale with Nikki who is now about 15 also. Sox is about 12. Then in the spring of 2020 a big male kitten showed up on our deck and we fed him, so he adopted us. We had him neutered and brought him inside when colder weather came in the fall and now Tommy at 4.5 years and almost 15lbs. is our big sweet boy that adopted my wife. In 2022, a little black, semi-longhair showed up. I thought she was a kitten but my vet estimated her to be about 18 months old and she had had at least one litter. So we had her spayed and now Fluffy claims me. When I watch TV in the evening, she is sleeping by my side with her head in my lap. The vet said she is small (6 lbs.) because she had a litter at too young an age. Tommy and Fluffy are quite an article, usually sleep together, and play together. He is protective of her.

We had intended to let our son pick our next pet. One cold and rainy January day we went to a local S.P.C.A. We had barely gotten inside the cat area and a little all white American short hair reached out the cage toward ME. We got her out and she immediately started purring, rather loudly. That was in 2011 and we still have her and she is approaching almost 14 years old (they told us she was about 8 months old). "Snowball" is what we call a "puppy cat" as she tends to hang around whoever is up. My wife is a "day person" and I worked 2nd shift for over 36 years, so Snowball hangs with my wife... till I get up!

About 3 years ago, a small black and white (tuxedo) kitten came to our door, obviously begging some food. Our own cat had died about half a year earlier, and my wife said "No". Next evening the young cat came again, and my wife relented and set about feeding the waif. This went on for another couple of weeks or so, but my wife had handed the cat-feeding job to me (I still have it). Then one day we saw the cat on our neighbours walkway - with three kittens. A few days later, there were 5 kittens - amazing for such a small cat. We stepped up the food supply a bit, and eventually momma cat brought her kittens to us directly for food - and yes, we did feed them all (and this was at the height of the local Covid outbreak - so there was no SPCA providing assistance. The kittens were - one black male, one tuxedo male, 3 calicos (2 female, one male). We managed to get the mother cat and all the kittens except the tuxedo into cages for the vet to neuter. We still have not managed to catch the tuxedo male, so he is still "intact". He is incredibly timid, and so far he has allowed only a very small amount of stroking on his back. If I tried to pick him up, he would run away. About 2 years ago, the most highly coloured of the calicos (a male) "walked" away. I saw him go, not thinking I would not see him again. So far he has not reappeared. The mother cat and the other four young ones are very friendly now. They are even friendly with another neighbourhood cat we believe to be their father (or one of possibly 2 or 3 fathers). Feeding this tribe of cats on a mixture of "wet" food and cat biscuits is quite expensive. So far, only one of the kittens likes to sleep indoors - the most coloured of the two remaining calico kittens. The mother cat and the other kittens do come indoors sometimes, especially for feeding time.

I had a similar experience with a feral mama cat who brought four kittens to the porch where l put out milk for a stray. 1 of them would stay on the porch while three would be gone for the day. Before l could socialize them 1 was killed by a car. Another had a badly infected dead eye. We captured him, took him to the vet and after the vet removed the eye he said don't put him back on the street. One disappeared in the ice storm, but Sunny (who was reasonably well now) was joined by his sister one freezing cold day. They've been living in my house now for ten years.

During a 3 day week-end my wife, kid and I were driving in the country (north of Paris) when we saw a Siamese cat in a potato field. He was sligtly injured, dirty and meowing but still wonderful. My wife talked to him and he followed us in the car and installed himself on the passenger side by my wife's feet and started to purr very loudly. We check houses nearby if he was belonging to anyone and no, he was chased by local dogs. Long story short: he purred for 24 hours non-stop, the vetenarian checked he was OK, no chip, we made an ad but no-one claimed him. He adopted us and played with my son's Lego. He was turbulent and loving and a true love (and guardian) of the family.

A stray cat found me. She was so beautiful and she had blue eyes. She was starving. She ate 4 cans of wet food and she still meowed for more. I continue feeding her until she was satisfied. I had just adopted two kittens from a rescue, so I was torn with the idea of keeping her. The next day I took her to ani😮mal control in my City to get checked and to see if if she was chipped. She wasn't and all they did was spayed her and put her back on the street. She was waiting for me when I got home from work. I took her in and since I had already posted her pictures on social media, I asked if someone was interested in taking her and giving her a forever home. I got a lot of texts that she was wanted so I choose someone who agree to give me updates on her in the future. She loves her new home. I do wish I would have kept her. She was very loving and affectionate.

I have a story to tell its a little long and some of it is sad, but here it is. This started in 2009 my daughter joined the military and had no one to take her cat. She asked if I would mind, since I was in the service but not getting deployed I said I'd watch her for a couple of years not problem. Well as fate would have it the cat and I bonded I got another cat for her to have a a brother. And life went on my daughter came home but the cat would not go with her. I was her forever mommy. I moved my to my home state in 2020 with her and her brother. I started noticing she was getting very skinny, mind you she had been a 24 lbs cat. I told my daughter something was wrong and I was going to the vet. She met me on the way. She the cat ( the name my daughter had given her was Shiffer Brains) she saw my daughter and tried to get up to love on her but was to weak. My daughter lost it. I lost it. I get to the vet and the worst news possible her body was shutting down. My sister came to help me with saying good bye. I held her head kissed her sang her favorite song as she passed away. It was soul crushing for me I fell to the floor cried my sister just held me and let me fall apart. I took her home so my other cat could say goodbye. We buried her. And I promised no more I couldn't handle any more my boy cat would be my last. The 2 months after I heard this little meow I searched for it. It sounded like it was under my car. I checked, no kitten, but I heard it again. On a hunch I lifted my hood and sitting on the battery was this little ball of fur. This little guy had to have just gotten lost and could not find its mom. I took it in cleaned it and fed it, planning to take it to the shelter, until I found out it was a kill shelter. Well now I have 2 cats again. I miss Shiffer all the time so does her brother he sleeps on the old cat tree where she slept to this day. BUT after these 2 I AM DONE... I think. Maybe... we'll see. Sorry it was so long, but talking about her is like therapy for me.

Went for walks with my wife and dog every night. We always walked by an abandoned house and garage. We kept hearing a faint meow so we finally decided to find the source. We were horrified to find out a cat had been locked in the abandoned garage! August, 100 degrees on the outside! I got a crowbar and ripped the door open. We saw a cat starving to death and so thirsty. He was scared so we kept feeding him and giving him water. He slowly started coming out until one morning, we found him at our door. We opened it and he came running in. We called him Romeo because he was loving and wouldn't stop cuddling and purring. Sweet baby boy. If you search loving boy, I made a short video and posted it here.

My husband and I are on cats #7, 8, and 9 right now. They all came from the streets or one of our adult children who (take your pick) know I love black cats, know I feel sorry for EVERY cat, visit with 2 kittens they found and leave with 1, or rescue street cats their apartment didn’t allow. Our oldest cat (15-20) Babadook was feral, part of the TNR program. He weighs 7 lbs. now with his translucent, clipped ear; our other solid black cat, Ragnar, 6, is 17 lbs. of muscle and shiny fur. We were his FOURTH owner and he was still a tiny kitten! I’m very patient with cats and also raised 6 children, so I felt like he was meant to be in our home when I learned he was a purebred Bombay. Very challenging! Our 3rd is an extremely soft, sweet-faced tabby: Kevin. My son found him in a field in a city with no ID. About 6 months later (11-18-19) my son disappeared. He would NEVER leave his cat. I have had Kevin since that week. He’s the only one who will purr on my chest in bed, and if I don’t keep looking at him he’ll turn my face with his paw so we have eye contact again. Kevin doesn’t like UA-cam. 🐈🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

When the Covid pandemic set in, and his Dad lost his job, this handsome Ginger could no longer be afforded. Back to a shelter unless perhaps I'd want this boy I'd cat-sat for in my home for what was supposed to be one week, yet soon became four. But that was months prior to the pandemic onset. Of course I'd fallen in love and when hearing the cat was going to be shelter reintroduced, I said NO...bring him to me! This senior boy is my purrfect loving companion. Our last cat that we rescued was found in our backyard after mowing the yard. I was pushing the mower to the storage shed and just about ran the mower over this tiny ball of fur. Picked up the fur ball and took it into the garage found a box, got a few towels put the kitten in there.Did wipe all dirt and mucous off of its face and head. Tried to give him some water, but wouldn’t drink. Our young female dog came to see this and she started licking the kitten clean. My wife came home and helped clean up the cat. He did eat some wet food and drank water. We became his humans. Later on took him to the vets for a check up. He was fine. The dog and him became best buddies. They slept together from then on.

You need a story? Here was mine...:
We have often noticed visits from an black-white European Short Hair outdoor cat on the ground floor terrace. One day I sat in the yard with cat food and fresh water within sight of the cat and just waited. I spoke to her again and again. At some point she slowly and carefully came closer and closer. She walked a few steps and sat down flat like a sphinx and looked at me. She kept blinking at me and I blinked back. Finally, at some point she stood right in front of me and ate the cat food and sipped a lot of water. She seems to have been very hungry and thirsty. I was able to stroke her without any problem. She started purring really loudly. It didn't take long before she was constantly rubbing against me and walking around me. I sat cross-legged and she literally laid down in the hollow between my legs and stretched around. She was so sociable and cuddly.
I was still going to school at the time. When I got home from school, I called her just for fun, not knowing if she was even on the property. I was amazed that she heard like a dog and came running to me meowing with her tail raised. She literally greeted me. She let herself be stroked extensively again and snuck around my legs. Suddenly she stood in front of me and reached out to me, like “pick me up and cuddle me.” I could not resist. She purred so hard her whole body vibrated. She rubbed her head against my face and licked my cheeks... So sweet. Then I put her down again and went into the house. I let her in with me. She walked next to me like a dog. She sniffed here and there, but she didn't wait long and quickly caught up with me again. My parents were happy to see her and surprised that she didn't leave my side. Since then I have been called the cat tamer.
My father installed cat doors everywhere so that she could come and go independently at any time. But she stayed in the house most of the time. At night she came to bed with me: I didn't close my room door completely. In the dark I saw the door open further. I knew it was the cat because I heard it purring. She crawled under my blanket at the foot-end of the bed and very carefully crawled along under the blanket on top of me. When she got to my chest, she stuck her head out of the blanket and lay down. She had her paws on either side of my neck. Like she was hugging me. That was so sweet. Of course I put my arms around her and hugged her too. She gave me a quick lick on my cheeks, like a kind of goodnight kiss.
On other days he would lie on the blanket or curled up in my arms next to me. There wasn't a night where he wasn't in bed with me. He even woke me up very gently in the morning. Meowing softly, purring, nudging me on the cheeks or the tip of my nose with his paws. Sometimes he gave me a good morning kiss on the cheek or the tip of my nose.
Where can you find something like that?
To be on the safe side, we took her to our vet to make sure there was nothing wrong with her. No tattoo or chip was found. We also asked the neighborhood if she was missing. Negative. After visiting the vet it was clear that it was a male. During the vet visits, I was the only one who was able to hold and calm him down without getting bitten.
You could really call him at any time and he would come to you. You could hold him in your arms, scratch him, pet him and cuddle him for hours. He even let himself be laid on his back like a baby, stayed in this position and let his tummy be stroked and scratched. He turned around on his own when you brushed him with the cat brush or combed him with the cat comb. He never, ever hissed, scratched or bit. But he gently nudged you with his paw when he wanted something. Most of the time he just wanted to be cuddled. When he wanted something to eat, he nudged you and meowed to follow him and went into the kitchen. There he sat down in front of the fridge and alternately looked at us and the fridge. He knew that the can of cat food was in there. Sometimes he would point a paw at the fridge. That was amazing.
We also noticed, he was terrified of the garbage truck. He heard the garbage truck before we heard it and ran away in a panic. But always in my room under the covers. I always sat with him and calmed him down. He probably had a bad experience with garbage trucks. But he was also afraid of the vacuum cleaner.
This was probably the most sociable cat I have ever seen and experienced.
The next cat (this time a cat lady) also hung on me like a burr. She was, as females are, temperamental and would occasionally hiss or hit you. At least she didn't tear us apart. To get attention, she sometimes carefully pinched you. Of course we also suffered some scratches. But it wasn't so bad in the end. She noticed when she overdid it and apologized in several ways. She also lay peacefully next to or on top of me at night.

Not that this is a major part of the story but you are not supposed to feed cats milk I know people think you are but you're not it does not agree with them. But in a matter of starvation I would give milk to until I could get a hold of special milk for kittens or cat food!
