I will add that I know of at least two more 4-25x50 scopes coming soon that are also OEM'ed at LOW. I have seen the prototypes of all of the upcoming ones and I have seen the Zeiss briefly. They all looked like good scopes. All three companies with the scopes coming up (Tract and two others) care about their reputations so there will not be any shortcuts taken in terms of the quality of the internals. Still, without a side-by-side I do not know if there are internal differences.
Like the 4-20x50PRS on my 22 working on targets, will likely wind up on a gopher gun, 223 probably, know it'll work well with that too. The ctr floating dot is tiny, but, once used to it, works like a damn.
I think Tract are a very good scope for the money however, no illumination, no go. Why would I purchase a non-illuminated scope when I can get an illuminated unit, even if there are build or design differences. The problem that I see is that Illumination is seen by potential customers as an included extra regardless of the buyers intended use. Why buy non-illuminated over illuminated? In Australia, a large number of shooters hunt at night as I do so, all my scopes are illuminated regardless of the original intended purpose. It just makes no sense to purchase non-illuminated when I have so much choice.
In principle, I agree that illumination is very helpful. In practice, in the US you can't hunt game animals at night, so many people forgo reticle illumination.
I initially thought zero compromise optics was a chinese brand just because the name sounded so dumb. And then I saw what they were and I realized that they made compromises despite their name and it rubs me the wrong way. As a company I don't understand them. If tangent theta and ZCO swapped names it would make more sense. But even then, doesn't every scope design require a compromise somewhere? Nothing is perfect.
Im also from NY, and I am also a rare gun lover for these parts.... Jon do you know a Frank Lacorte? Hope he isn't family lol I beat him up for crossing the line w my gf. You would remember the name he ended up in jail for triple murder?!?!
hey hey folks! look at these good looking gents.
Gents? Jon... maybe. He is a civilized man, but me? You ruining my street cred 🙂
I have the Zeiss 4-25 S3. I'm curious if they're exactly the same internals.
They are likely very similar.

I really like the toric 4.5-30 but it does tunnel a bit.

We offer several models with illumination and the 30mm Hunt series FFP models will be available with IR reticles by September
