I was working in Germany.Even the Government gave full support to Ladies during Pregancy I have to fight with my German boss for my rights.So not only India all over the world women have to fight for their rights and right to say "No" to overwork or over responsibility.(Not only in work but also in Family).

It should be available in every industry.

Whats the point in blaming companies when family (esp husband) doesn't understand that even women have the right to dreams and career aspirations? Its a silly argument that children need only one parents contribution more than the other....agreed that there are physical needs like (breast feeding etc) but there are many other needs which men can do....anyone who loves their wife will definitely share the task of home making and raising their child

Women must realize that with equal rights, comes equal responsibilities. Women cannot have the cake and eat it to. They should be given equal rights, thats true. But they shouldn't be offered extra courtesies just because they are women. Even from a drowning ship the first people to be rescued are women and children. This must change. Women must be treated equal to men, in all aspects. You cannot ask for equal rights, then moan about not getting courtesies usually given to women. From the corporate point of view, it is wise to hire a man over a woman because, he will not be asking for maternity leaves. This is how the capitalist world operates. If you want a promising career, then you will have to sacrifice things too. Or you can choose to have kids when you reach 40 like in the west, but then... in the west the number of autistic kids are far far far higher than India. I have worked with a female colleague who took maternity leave and when she came back, pressurized the manager and got the acknowledgment for the work I did, when she was off on leave. I didnt expect this of her as well as management. The manager simply said, he had to give her some encouragement as she was a lady. I was so pissed off. Women must realize that with equal rights, comes equal responsibilities. Women cannot have the cake and eat it to. They should be given equal rights, thats true. But they shouldn't be offered extra courtesies just because they are women. Even from a drowning ship the first people to be rescued are women and children. This must change. Women must be treated equal to men, in all aspects. You cannot ask for equal rights, then moan about not getting courtesies usually given to women. From the corporate point of view, it is wise to hire a man over a woman because, he will not be asking for maternity leaves. This is how the capitalist world operates. If you want a promising career, then you will have to sacrifice things too. Or you can choose to have kids when you reach 40 like in the west, but then... in the west the number of autistic kids are far far far higher than India. Having kids above middle age will have complications for the child as well as the mother. Again, you cannot have both... compromises must be made

Well *****, what you have said might provoke a few guys and ladies, but Truth is bitter. I too have the same feeling. And we mean it for good. The capitalist world has no place for sentiments as the ladies in this show have expressed. I have worked with a female colleague who took maternity leave and when she came back, pressurized the manager and got the acknowledgment for the work I did, when she was off on leave. I didnt expect this of her as well as management. The manager simply said, he had to give her some encouragement as she was a lady. I was so pissed off. I have to work for myself and her, but at the end of the year I am screwed for some lady's personal problem. To hell with pseudo equality!
