Thanks for the abridged version. When I watch a 2 hour replay video, it often takes me 4-5 hours to review since there's a lot of information to process.
The abridged version is straight to the point, but I'm sure there's an abundance of tidbits that get cut from the 2 hour video.

This helped me so much!! I’m in Korea right now and I was ALWAYS hearing -ㄴ 데 as a sentence ending even tho I knew it only as ‘but’, I asked so many korean nobody could really explain it to me, I get it know, you are a life savior

Finish the sentence with ~는\ㄴ데(요) also does not need further explanation if the other person knows that he or she has other issues or pending things, it's sounds like "I'd want to go to the party but, you know..." and he or she knows. ^^

Billy, thank you so much for the abridged version. Not to insult your listeners 지만, there is a lot of unnecessary chit-chat going on in the chat room that distracts from learning. Also, from a beginning learner perspective, a 13 minute video still may take us 40 minutes to digest. 고맙

I have 1 question about ㅎ I heard ppl saying 좋은데 but you said to remove ㅎ if it is a descriptive verb so how does it work

I always thought of 는데 (and friends) like a semicolon
You can think of it that way too, when it's used in the middle of a sentence :)
I think the best way to learn "-는데/(으)ㄴ데" is not to try to understand it with translation. Indo-European languages including English usually don't have this grammar that, as this video does, the explanation tends to be long. If we should do, then we may say that "-는데/(으)ㄴ데" is like *semicolons.* (And Korean doesn't use semicolons.)
Structure: (information 1)-는데/(으)ㄴ데 + (information 2). The (information 1) is a background information, and the (information 2) is a related information. So, its meaning is quite open either "and", "so", "but", or even not translatable into one but two sentences.

Hi Billy, I tried writing a sentence on my own. Is it correct to use -는데 in this situation or should I have used -지만?
제 고양이가 어제에서 피곤했는데, 아직 미치게 뛰었어요. (My cat was tired yesterday but she still ran around like crazy)
Although the sentence itself is not perfect, yes it's fine to use the ~데 form in that way :)

It's really frustrating when I'm trying to read some random korean word that I saw because it's really hard to distinguish how to pronounce this ㄱ, ㄷㅂ, ㄹ, ㅅ, ㅃ, ㄸ, ㅆ, ㄲ. Vowels are kinda easy but this is really hard for me. They said that it's pronounced between two letters but dude, it's hard. I pronounced it sometimes l or r, p or b, and so on.

I'm fascinated, but does that mean in the ~데 form to the Past and Future tenses, either can be an action verb or a descriptive verb; you just add 데 , (along with the verb past simple conjugation) is that right?
If so, does the ㅂ,ㅎ, and ㄹ rules apply too?

Conjugating 괜찮다/싫다 with 은데 does not require any 받침 removals right?

11:09 Why is 싶다 a descriptive verb? It means to want something, no? I thought it was Active.
An action verb comes before it, but 싶다 by itself is a descriptive verb (but you won't see it used by itself). It's just used as part of Korean grammar forms.
@@GoBillyKorean Ah, I see. So you would never use 싶다 with a noun on its own, like "I want food"; rather you'd use another verb like "I want to HAVE food?" or something like that. That makes sense. Thanks!

It was once explained to me,it's hard to explain but 싶다 literally means The feeling of wanting something not just to want something, is that feeling you have when you want something ,That's why it is a Descriptive Verb however it's used as an Action verb

Grammatically sure, but it would sound awkward in that case since it's one right after the other.

@@mariana298 The reason it sounds awkward is because imagine the sentence were in English. "I want to meet but, I don't have time so... (what do you want me to do?)." It still sounds repetitive to put two contrasting endings, unless you had a reason for it. You can certainly do that in the right contexts, but not without any context.

I don't teach in this video that they're interchangeable. They have different uses, so they're only sometimes interchangeable :) Not always.

Adding 우 is only for descriptive verbs that end with only ㅂ, not if they end with ㄼ or another combination.
집은 넓은데 비싸요
