This is the third Nissei DG 103 meter I have tested, the first two was purchased new by me and sent back to the seller as both of them did not read the correct wattage, SWR, or Ref regardless of how many watts was put into them.. the seller reciprocated my complaint and gave me a full refund.
This third meter was gifted to me by a subscriber and friend Scotty who I chat with in the radio lounge, he watched the video I did on my channel a while back and afterwards told me he had not had any issues with the meter he was using,
So after he upgraded his Nissei meter he gifted me the meter he had been using and told me there was nothing wrong with it and I should have no problems using it.
Two weeks later a parcel arrived and inside was the Nissei meter and a Astatic microphone to put on my Stryker 955HPC.. I thank you Scotty for your kind generosity and I appreciate your gifts very much.
I was optimistic about the meter but after testing it i was surprised to see it working well and being accurate, I suppose there are times when we purchase items we lose faith in and after my experience with this particular meter my faith in them has been somewhat restored, I guess there is good and bad in the Mix when it comes buying equipment.
I don't know if anything about radios but I'm glad you got a gift that is so cool.... I'm just over here drinking my coffee. Great video bro

Hey sis.. The Stryker works incredibly good on sideband, it sound really nice too, I use this radio a lot on the free and frequencies.
That was so amazing that they sent you that meter. Wow. Perhaps there is hope for humanity.

You need to work on your whistle, Glad to see that you got a meter that works. Very nice of Scott. Great video as always and information. Very nice meter for sure. Now I see that you run 100 watts and have calmed down LOL. Always great to see and hear you on the channel, my friend. 73s working on a video now. NY202 USA
Hello Mr sheriff sir.. yeah looking back that whistle was a little bit feeble lol.
100 watts I can use that as an exciter for the amplifier hiding under the bench shhhh lol..
Scotty's gifts were totally unexpected but much appreciated we always have a good natter in the radio lounge, a very nice chap and a good friend.. anyway I hope your goat is in fine health but il remind you again that teat you pulling on Billy will produce sour milk.. STOP IT 😂😂😂

@@cbradioghosttalk1986 well I was going to promote you in my next pornhub video, but since you are being a cheeky sod I'll just add you to my recommended channels.. 🖕 👈 oops sorry that was meant to be a thumbs up.. excuse my finger slipping 😂😂🤣
Had the same metre while back Glen and was not great as with another few digital metres I’ve had. Really all depends if they calibrated them correctly at the manufacturer which I don’t think happens with all metres sadly , I have the array solutions that is fantastic meter which is in the same league as the LP range of metres , not cheap to buy togeather with the coupler but your have a metre that should last for many years
Hi pal.. I always liked the look of this Nissei but looks aren't what it's about.. it's about accuracy.. I like the one you have now and I have checked them out, but you mention the LP's and they are very nice too.. I'm doing my research anyway and I know it's going to be pretty pricey to get the one I want.. this one will do for now for the simple things, as long as it works ok, this one seems to be calibrated, I'm good with that.
I have the DG503 which is spot on for HF & VHF.
I do like these meters, i think i was just a little unfortunate when i bought mine, but to have a replacement that was as bad maybe just unlucky.. but the one i have now works really well so im good with that.
Hey my friend. Hope all is well. 🥰
Hey hey im good thanks.. hope you are looking after yourself ❤️❤️
*And stop whistling at me 😂😂😂
😹😹😹😹
Interesting ! I was wondering if this one is better off instead of the DG-503 model. I know a lot of guys have jumped to the Digital Telepost LP-100a or LP-500 or 700 but with that is a good bit of money !
Hi Eric.. I think the only difference between the two is the 103 reads more power, other than that they are about the same.. I've had some bad luck with the 103 I ordered and the replacement was as bad, but this one here seems to be working just fine on hi or low power input.. I'm looking at the LP-200 at the moment, I do like that one, but pricey.
Btw Eric I've added you to my recommended channels, best 73.
I believe it's "Peak Envelope Power".
You are correct sir, thank you for noticing my mistake, I will strive to do better in future, have a good day and stay safe.
I think one of those cheeky ducks broke it 😂
I reckon you're right 😂😂😂
How kind of the person to send you a gift
Hi Stephen, yes he's a fellow skip chaser from Montana and a god friend.. I was blown away by his generosity.
They don't sell this 1200 W model in the United States,😡 And I want one but can't get it. They only offer 200 W here and that's not enough for my system
I would look at AliExpress they do both models.. im not sure if the brand name but they do all come out of the same factory regardless of who sells them.
Cpuld you add a cigarette lighter plug to use in mobile locations
Yes it runs on a 12 volt input so putting a cigarette lighter plug on the wire that comes with it isn't a problem, in fact I have a cigarette lighter plug on this one which plugs directly into my power supply.
@@DeltaXray444 how long is the cable on the swe meter do I just need a short cig plug
@@KE8ODY-WV-Ares-Ham-Dad-3O4 the lead that comes with the meter is a metre long around three foot three inch.. I extended mine as I needed it longer to run from my bench to the power supply.. the cig plug i used on mine was the standard size. The lead on the meter is detachable.
Certainly puts me off buying one. Out of interest what frequencys does it cover? Best of luck with it.
Hi Al.. it's not just this type of digital meter, there are others out there that cost much much more and they have some serious issues.. ive been doing a lot of research and looking at many UA-cam videos on some of these..
I suppose there is good and bad in everything but the initial experience ive had with this particular meter was not good, but im glad to say this one which was gifted to me works very well, theres always the money back guarantee if they dont work as they should..
Ive always liked the look of this one and although a simple meter does looks very nice on the bench..
I'll add its trial and error with some of these digital meters.. even some of the more expensive ones can be a problem and the quality of the item isn't always great.. i refer to an expensive one that Darren bought which was absolutely diabolical both as a test meter and faulty . He made a video on it and sent it straight back.
This one cover's from 1.6hz to 60mhz so it is full coverage for the entire HF bandwidth.
Power wise it covers 0-300 watts and 300-1200 watts. But they don't read p.e.p (peak envelope performance)
People say you cant beat an older analogue meter and i think im on the fence but i have no issues with my HP (high performance) Zetargi meters, ive had them professionally calibrated and have no issues whatsoever with them. and to be fair price wise the HP Zetargi's ain't that cheap either.
Did you test 3rd one with 500W as before
I did test it and the linear sat at 485 watts with no depreciation on the reading and was rock solid.. I have a video of that on my old laptop in the editing software along with other completed videos, I'm not up on how to transfer it all but I have a lady friend who said she can help me sort it out. Il post it up when it's all sorted. Turned out to be a pretty good meter, I sent it to my tech to be calibrated and it turned out it was set just about right.
