  • Buying a new shifter is sometimes a hard choice with all the available hardware out there. The NEWT2 from SHH acts as both H-shifter and sequential shifter. But how does it compare to a more mainstream shifter like a Thrustmaster T8HA?

Thank you SO MUCH for showing the bottom of the shifter. After watching several UA-cam videos that didn't show it, I couldn't confirm mounting holes in the bottom of the current version. I want to surface mount it to a horizontal plate and now I know that I can

Great reveiw, thanks for the honest feedback. My only reservation is the plastic body's rigidity. As far as finish goes, do you think it could be 100% disassembled and submerged in water, aka hydrodipped? Thanks!

I think yes, but will get back to you tomorrow when I get home.

@busymindstudios I took it apart as far as my comfort zone would allow it (I am good at taking things apart but not putting them togetther). The majority seems to be attached with inbus bolts. I don't see anything soldered to the housing. The hardest part to disassemble seems to be some very smalls screws holding a motherboard to the front of the case. Technically it seems possible, but not sure how the dip will catch to the very small ribs on the surface.

It's unfortunate that the MOZA HGP shifter doesn't have a sequential mode (why no review?). It's about the same cost (shipped) as the SHH, but is far more robust (all-metal). The SHH is about $100 CAD cheaper than the TH8A, and I've heard nothing but BAD things about the TH8A. It's basically overpriced because it's one of the only shifters that can be used with a console. It's either going to be an SHH or MOZA for me. MOZA is coming out with a standalone sequential shifter soon. I may wait to see what that costs first.

I saw some MOZA shifters break of the shaft so not sure if they are all metal. I will see when they pop up on the second hand market to buy and review one.

@@SimulatedDrivingResource All metal. This guy tears it down: ua-cam.com/video/xNQSiwrJw54/v-deo.html I can't imagine how much force you'd have to apply to snap one...

I'm not sold on this idea for a product. The reason being is that I'm using the thrustmaster shifter with a very nice and cheap leather knob with awesome red stitching ($12 eBay) and a fantastic mod to stiffen the gear changes ($20 eBay). This gives me just about the most perfect shifting experience for me. Although this SHH shifter is much cheaper initially, I doubt it can compete with the "big brands" and leave you feeling satisfied.

Yeah its a mixed bag this one. I didnt say it in the video, but I just expected more of it. Made me realize that the T8HA, even without mods, is already a pretty good shifter for my experience. 🫤

@@boxboxbox624 Ok thanks. Not unhappy myself with the light throw of gears. Does not get in the way of gameplay, and for games where you need fast shifting like WRC it is maybe better. The whole shifter is really good quality and works well. The adjustment screw is useless though... you can tighten it but then the stick starts to feel glued.

Trust me this is better than many shifters even more expensive than the th8a (which is widely known for not being good)

Gigachad £40 Ebay/Aliexpress shifter which feels better than the Fanatec, Thrustmaster and Shh.
