The music straight up prevented me from playing the game at first. It was bewitched. Haha thanks. I just don't want people to think a badly priced game = a bad game. Thanks for watching. :)
While not entirely related to this video, if you haven't seen it try Crosscode. Its got puzzles and dungeons that are very reminiscent of Zelda and its really really good.
That was a great game. And best part is some of my favorite video game cover artists are on the soundtrack, and I couldn't be any happier, and my ears would say so too!
I was not as enchanted with this game as I'd hoped, but it is still very good. Necrodancer to me was almost infinitely replayable, it became a recurring part of my day. Cadence I beat 3 times and I think I'm satisfied. But perhaps that is a tall order, to create something that holds your attention for years.
Fun fact: the guitars and the vocals in this soundtrack were made by some big time youtubers who also happen to be huge Zelda fans themselves, just how cool is that? I really wish they got more collaborations like this in store. Indies already have a huge presence on Nintendo consoles, and it would be a great way to inject some life on some long-neglected franchises, even if the big N is got its hands full on the next big Zelda or Mario to give them any love.
Crypt of the necrodancer never interested me but I did gift that to a friend. This game however did interest me so I bought it and beat it fairly easily. It's a fun game but it did weird things to my brain as everything I watched in real life moved slower in the same rythm beat as the game. Makes real life lag quite a bit. Glad my brain readjusted itself after two days.
I think the difficulty was fair, and that's coming from someone who played the better part of Crypt. I do, however, think it not being as punishing makes it way more enjoyable, especially when playing local coop with a friend who's not as used to rhytm based games like these. Great review tho!
Your review was 100% spot on, and was basically what I told my friends as well. It's definitely not a *bad* game at all, it's just... way too easy, and probably is only worth picking up if it drops down to $15-$20.
Great video, you gave a very good analysis, though, I don't know if I will get it yet, I'm one of those people who ain't got rhythm, but I love Zelda. I'm sure my experience will be different.
Per the game itself, from the few hours I've played, it's good but not quite as good as I hoped. I liked CotN a lot, I had high hopes for 2P particularly the idea of multiplayer, but at least the multiplayer aspect doesn't seem to quite jive right. I think, based on a musical/timing game, it implemented 2p fairly well, but perhaps it's a little too flexible on the timing (to make it feel seamless for both players). Typically the timing/rhythm is very important, but with 2p it's a lot easier to just finangle it. Undoubtedly you'll do less well if you do this, but when I was playing with newcomers to the series it seemed hard for them to grasp what was going on. Perhaps it's just the nature of the game or the amount of action happening when 2p are playing, but the cause and effect / feedback is a ton harder to understand, at least when playing 2p. If perhaps stronger visual cues (or, an option to turn that on) were in place that'd correct it (whether it be the importance of timing, incentives for getting it right, when you get it wrong, etc)? I'll have to try this more solo, I suspect it will be a better experience then. Or perhaps the slowed time mode. I had high hopes for the multi, and per the trailer I wished/expected the view was zoomed in more so I could see all the beautiful sprite work better.
I still consider this game the hardest Zelda ever.... After Zelda 2. I just dont have the rhythm. Didn't know they was an off beat mode. I gave up after dying too many times after the first map area. Maybe I'll give it another try.
I think I had a similar criticism, the bosses are far too easy and the combat mechanics lacked some flavor. It definitely seemed like hyper-offense was the way to go. That said I still greatly enjoyed my short time with this one.
I don't know, this is your channel, you can do whatever you want but you have a potential for greater things. This channel could easily have more than 300.000 subscribers.Anyway I don't want to patronize you.Your reviews are top notch.
There was one part where I got stumped, but that was more due to my own stupidity. Something to do with the lake, I think? It's been a while. Lol. Haven't touched the DLC yet, but I do own it. I liked this game a lot, not only cause it's a crossover between an indie game and Zelda of all things, but it was just fun to me. I may eventually get around to OG CotND since I own it too, but I'm not quite as into full roguelikes/lites (Not sure which one that game classifies as tbh). :P
It's been a hot minute for me as well. I want to get into the dlc so bad considering skull kid is my son. I love him so much! It's just so many games and not enough time to play them all!!
I think it's fair to bring the price into consideration when talking about a game. If you don't think it's worth it's current price that means a lot to the person who is considering buying the game. Many people neglect that and I'm glad you didn't.
Hey just a friendly suggestion more like, isn't that a lot of make up? I am comparing to a very old video and I can see the contours of where you applied it... Think about it
Um no? I dont contour. And if I do wear a lot of make up why does it matter? I can come on in full drag for all I care or no make up at all. It does matter how I look when I review a game. Just a friendly...response.
I don't think that makes you close-minded. I think that means you know what you like and you know what you don't like. And you don't like Rhythm games. There's no shame in that. :-)
...darn that music for the main screen really was beautiful!
price is very important when talking about a game being worth it or not. have no shame!
The music straight up prevented me from playing the game at first. It was bewitched.
Haha thanks. I just don't want people to think a badly priced game = a bad game. Thanks for watching. :)
Damn, she called it on the DLC.
Damn right
Good job on the review. A very unexpected crossover, and it worked out very well. Kudos.
EVERYONE! THERE IS A DEMO OUT FOR THIS GAME! TRY IT!
I've seen several reviews of this. I think yours is the most comprehensive I've seen so far.
WOW. Thank you! >///
Seems like the makers of CRYPT wanted to make the game more accessible to fans of LOZ that may not have tried CRYPT.
My thoughts exactly.
Which makes sense, if they dig this enough, they might leap into Crypt.
Respect you for not just saying it's amazing and calling it a day.
Great video! This game is very unique with some sick beats.
Loved your earrings btw!
Thank you sir!

What a great review as alawys miss pelvic. Loved the intro of you dancing too.
When menu music is fire it fucks me up
Omg same
Great video, sound analysis and I think price/value discussion is important
Great review, I am planning on picking it up over the holidays, maybe be on sale like you mentioned before.
Thank you! It's a lot of fun! A steep price..but a lot of fun. Haha
Easier than necrodancer?! I'm in!

The characters hopping around like fleas cracked me up.

Holy cow! That is really cool I honestly had no idea. I agree I would like more unique collaborations like this.

Everything.
*Reads it.
Pun and reference was super effective.
I want this game, crypt is fun so a Zelda skinned crypt, can't go wrong. Waiting for it to go on sale for cheap before picking it up though.
I love this game and its music. It seems like Cadence of Hyrule is pretty polarizing in the Zelda fanbase, but I think it's a great addition
Great review.
What do you think is a better game to start with, this or Crypt of the NecroDancer?
This game for sure. It will ease you into Crypt which is much more intense.

@@dalgusmaximus4557 Nope, $25.

That's abit pricy for a indie game.
Thanks for the review. I may buy yet another game based on your endorsement.
You honor me. ♡ Thank you.
I might just buy this game in the future thanks to your review!
Hooray! Thank you. :)
you know she was dancing to this!
Very much so!
I was loving the intro now i want it. But im not musically adept.
Me either.

Gleeockenspiel still gives me a lot of trouble. I know there's a method to it but I just can't get it yet. Sometimes wizroboe messes me up too lol
Glad to hear you enjoyed Cadence despite its flaws! ❤️
Oh absolutely!
This is the kind of game to attempt to beat with some adaptation of a DDR pad.
YES

Lol O.O IM ALWAYS WATCHING
Top Ten Zelda Music?
I guess people should start with cadence of hyrule before playing crypt of the necromancer.
I tried out the demo for this one recently....and found I have zero rhythm. And the demo doesnt have normal mode. So I had to pass on it lol
