  • Experience Mission Space at Epcot at the Walt Disney World resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. In this video we experience the entire ride including, the queue, pre shows, full ride, Advanced Training Lab, and the gift shop.
    This was filmed on the Orange (More Intense training).
    Mission Space is a motion simulator thrill ride at Epcot. It simulates what an astronaut might experience aboard a spacecraft on a mission to Mars, from the higher g-force of blastoff to the speculative hypersleep. Mission Space replaced Horizons and opened in 2003.
    Watch in HD (1080p) for best quality.

    Omg, when I was at Disneyworld 2 years ago, this ride at Epcot was my absolute favorite ride out of everything at Disney. I went on it four times in one day, all were the more intense orange pass. Never experienced anything like this anywhere. I'm going again this coming December 2015 to see the park decorated for Christmas, which I never have before because we went around spring break time. Mission space will be the first place I go!!

      I'm going to Disney for Christmas too! And this is a ride I desperately want to go on... When I was 6 I was more of a splash mountain person but I'm 13 now and I really wanna go on this ride 😝

    I rode both with my younger brother and father. I liked the green one, but I LOVED the orange ride. We had no idea what we were getting into at first. The pressure was intense. My brother got nauseous and my dad had some back pain once the orange one ended, but I was pumped! It was such a rush! It is my all time favorite ride at Disney World, for sure. I can't wait to go back.

    From what I remember over time this ride has gone through a few iterations from extremely mild to full strength. However, there are rollercoasters out there that have more g-force factors than this. The context of the ride makes it more than just being put in a cabin and spun around in a circle. If you close your eyes, you feel the circular motion.

    • @hdyudu
      @hdyudu 10 років тому

      Roller coasters that give you a similar elephant on your chest fell mostly pull about 4-5 g's for a second and half however mission space pulls only 2-3 g's around the same mark as the space shuttle the reason is the steady circular motion distributes the g forces just evenly across you for a longer time frame rather then a forward high speed launch or downwards in a looping motion making you feel like you pulling near 6 g's where you actually only pulling a fraction of that, this is why competitive aerobatic pilots and snowboarders can pull 10 g's but come out unharmed do to the fact that amount was not evenly distributed

    When I went a while back, I heard the stories about someone dying on this and I was wayyyy to chicken to go on it, even though I love space. I'm going to disney in a few days, so i hope i'll get a chance to ride this. Thanks for the vid :)

      Someone _did_ die on it, but that's because they had heart problems. I didn't know about the heart problems part, so the second time I went to Epcot, I didn't go on.

      @ameliam100 10 років тому +7

      the people that die in Disney, its not because of unsafe rides, or something Disney did wrong. its because people go on the rides when they know they have health problems and aren't smart enough to read the warning sign.

    • @hoghedge808
      @hoghedge808 10 років тому

      Yeah definitely, most of the deaths were when people stood up on rides or snuck in.

      Rain Bro Dash I went on this last month for the first time and and it was not that bad. The advice i got was Mission space has two different versions. a Green and an Orange Version
      Green Team: If you are prone to motion sickness or uncertain about which level to choose, you should opt for the Green Team for a less intense but still thoroughly exhilarating experience.
      The Orange Team experience uses a centrifuge that spins and tilts to simulate speed and G-forces during launch and re-entry. The Green Team experience is a motion simulator ride that does not spin and is less likely to cause motion sickness.
      (My preferance) me personally i would recommend the Green version of the ride then the orange version. I had a family member and his gf do the orange version and they almost got sick so if anything stick with the Green not the orange. So when you arrive all you have to do is the ride staff will ask you if you want Green/organge and its best to choose green instead of orange.

    Throw up twice after I got off. Nasty ride. Here's a tip for those who get sick. This is the advice I received from the Disney First aid station when I went in for HELP!!!!!..lol
    I had to goto the back and sleep it off for about 45 min. Yep, thats what Disney advised, and they let you do it. If you dont sleep it off, you still feel the spinning sensation for the rest of the day.... and it works.

    Yeah, it's quite rude in my opinion. I had to film the ride twice due to the immaturity and talking of some of the people on the ride itself. You'd be surprised how many times I have film some of these clips and rides multiple times due to talking and other things.

    I was on this ride in September.
    The ride is on a spinning centrifuge and simulates the high G's of takeoff and space travel. Being the one and only Disney park ride that actually provides airsickness bags should clue everyone in to how intense it is. The video doesn't do it justice.

    If you went on the Orange 'more intense' side and it made you feel that way you can always ride the Green 'less intense' side and there's no spinning on that version of the ride. This ride makes me feel a little motion sick at times.

    It was the toughest ride I ever did. It made me feel a lot of respect for all astronauts and understand why they have to get trained, and I'm sure, even I felt only a tiny feeling of the real experience... Felt a little dizzy after the ride but not to be sick. I'm very happy I've made it, an intense experience...

    I am a Huge Disney Fan. Plus I been to Disney World 33 times. You can ask me anything about Disney World I am a pro.
    I been on both versions of Mission Space. The intense one was extremely fun and really enjoyable. It spins around a lot and it does have high G force which I can understand why people didn’t like the Orange Version. The Less intense one is pleasent and fun there is less spins so I would say it is better but both are great.
    Actually the first time I been on that ride I was around 9 years old. I went on the intense one and it was extremely AMAZING. I didn’t have any sort of issue when it comes to spinning rides. Only backward rides. It’s nice that a body like mine is strong.
    But I can see the issue with the intense one. Motion sicknesses and dizziness do happen. I haven’t experienced it nor the Partners that had spinning issues but it really is unfortunate for those with motion sickness because the intense one is extremely awesome and really fun.
    If you have any motion sickness heart problems or any sort of dizziness issue with spinning or nausea, DO THE LESS INTENSE (The Green) it’s still the same but less spins.

    Honestly orange team is thrilling but not scary but going through the stand by gets you anxious because of how many times it warns you. Getting disoriented is the last thing I want to do at Disney. So just follow the rules trust me I almost wanted to ditch the ride but it's a must do no matter how scary it feels to you. It's an awesome ride!

    How come nobody in there shuts up when the instructions are being given? I'd hate to watch a movie with them...

    As much as I liked this ride, it definitely isn't for everyone. Granted, I thought I'd hate it until I finally rode it, but I totally get why people dislike it.

    If the Orange cabins were facing the direction the ride spun... at least it would actually feel more realistic. I wonder why they're not...?

    What kind of camera do you use?

    Last time I went on this ride, I went on the orange one with a headache, I kinda wanted to get off but I had to endure it because I didn't want to bother anyone, you can tell what happened next.
    Thankfully after a ride on Ellen's Energy Adventure helped that.

      +Starry- REEE did you have to use a motion sickness bag? I've nearly gotten sick on The Simpsons and Men in Black at Universal and I once got sick from Forbidden Journey, but luckily not on the ride.

      No, my headache worsened, but I have gotten sick at Mission SPACE before.

    Actually Mars does have air.
    It's atmosphere is 96% Carbon Dioxide, 1.93% Argon, and 1.89% Nitrogen with traces of Oxygen and Water. The pressure on Mars is very thin though

    I was in line for this ride back when I was 10 with my aunt, uncle, and cousin. Right when they had opened the doors to enter I got way to scared and backed out. Thank god I did cause my aunt a few months later was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension and cant go on any roller coaster type ride, also that kid had died like a month after because he had an enlarged heart and didnt know. They have toned down the ride since then but ive always been too scared to go on it. Im now 21 and Ill be heading to disney in march with my husband and he wants to me to get on it. He says most of my fear is in my head and it will be fine but im not too sure.

      The 4 year old collapsed and never woke up. They found out later that he had an enlarged heart. The woman had a stroke on the ride and died shortly after.

    If they wanted realistic effects the launch should have lasted 8:30 seconds

    Hi! Enjoyed this very much. I took two granddaughters on this ride in June, 2010.
    I noticed the lines were short/non-existent. What times of the year do you recommend going to Disney to experience the shorter lines? Thanks!!
