I gotta say, this video was much more positive than I expected it to be, a lot of the mechanics you talked about is justs regular stuff for gacha games
I realized you never touched on the required power for the stages and this is the reason you had problem with the damage, the way you grow on this game is directly linked to your rank, unlocking more armors and other mechanics that raise your power, there's also much more to upgrade than just the weapon levels and armor, it's par for the course for gacha games but your conclusion still stands, you'll either put time or money to get far in this game

Yeah you gotta be invested in the game to get anywhere. I played it for a while (my power was over 200,000) and its difficult gaining level at times and certain mechanics you want known about until later on. I still the game at its base is good but I understand people's frustrations with it.

Been playing the game for almost 2 years (august 2020 to be exact) currently on lvl 134 with a 700k+ power... So far it was pretty fun, the grind is tough sometimes you get shafted and win in gacha pulls but nonetheless it's a good game for me who had a lot of free time....

You can progress just fine at lower levels too. You get free continues that you can abuse to bypass the harder difficulties and that will get you a lot of rewards quickly. The only time it becomes an issue is with bosses, especially ones like Sting Chameleon and Mad Nautilus whose invincibility phases will affect star ranking for time.

this game is all about patience and making tasks every day, I have never spent one cent and I enjoy playing the game, not even playing the main stages, but side content and events to keep unlocking new stuff, or playing co-op or versus. The menus are indeed overwhelming at the beginning but you get used to them later. It's definitely designed for you to level up through daily missions and gradually get more power to take on later levels. Even if you pull on the Gatchapon like mad you won't get the power you need to take on those higher story levels right away. And as you hit higher levels you unlock other modes that give you more ways to get memories and power.
It's 100% a game that you have to be ok with making a habit out of. You need to play daily, even if you only play for 30 minutes a day.

  • @EonAegis

Mega Man X DiVE on the whole is a really good game held back by obvious mobile game design. The main issue is that as a f2p player just trying to get through the story, the entire game's progression slows down to a crawl. Once you hit this point, you can either pay up or just take a slow burn approach. Admittedly the payment doesn't speed you up enough to actually use it for the long-term.
That being said, there are some things you can do to speed things up:
Grind out a single character to atleast be 4 star rank. With a third card slot, your stats gain a massive boost and you'll be able to go on for much longer, and each levelup will add more since you can level that card further.
Save your lives for big pushes: it's generally not worth it to use your programs on any stage you die in. Instead, use them sparingly for big story pushes if you know an unlock is around the corner, or for unlocking higher tier events so you can then skip those. (Gacha game logic at its finest.)
Remember that every little thing gives you stat pushes, so sometimes you just need to wait a few days. This is how they try to get money out of you.
The game is not for everyone, but if you like Mega Man and can deal with/are a fan of gacha mechanics, it might be a fun little timesink.

DiVE is more of a game that you play in short bursts. I can imagine coming into the game now while it has two years of content available from the get-go makes it seem like there's too much going on. Really liked your take on the game, though.
And you get lives naturally through small events and several daily, but again, I can see how that gels better with a "play a bit each day" game rather than a "play it all at once" experience. Either way, I'm very thankful for the new artwork and models.

That kind of game usually expects you play by schedule or play at least once per day, because if you don't you will get punished by missing out in special events or promotions that give rewards for the all players.
Some games have one of those every 2 weeks or even 1 per week so you better play everyday specially if you're a f2p player, and as a result the game gets more addictive (or feeling more like a job, those who quit MMOs know what i am talking about) and that's how the game gets you and tempts you into spending real money, and apparently it works because this kind of game is a huge business.
You really are not expected to "finish the game" in a couple of days but i feel like there should be a balance, not sure if there's a game that has balanced those aspects correctly.
But still, i agree that this kind of game isn't for everyone, just like MMOs, some people just don't have the time for those (or are too impatient, can't expect to "finish all the content" in a MMO in 2 months)

I played MMXDive, and honestly the game felt really good to play, eventually I also hit the part where the game started to get harder, but after upgrading my weapons, chips, cards and armour (it's not complicated neither expensive at all, I've never spent any money in this game and was able to get to chapter 7 I think in a matter of weeks) the stages never felt too punishing to play, and honestly if you're doing literally 1 damage against an enemy, why are you even trying? You need to upgrade weapons, don't try to upgrade all of them, pick a favorite, upgrade your favorite characters, I wouldn't recommend this game to someone that wants the simple and straightforward nature of the MegaMan series, but if you're willing to spend a couple minutes to get stronger and X dive is definitely a good game for that, the only reason I don't play it anymore is because after an update the game started to crash constantly at my phone

The problem with the power scaling on XDive is that a lot of the content you see through the game is stuff that was slowly added over the course of 2 years. So, instead of having the difficult slowly progress as you normally would, they had them adjusted for the power level most players had around the time those were added, and this made everything even more of a slow grind.
For a new player to get there and see all that content, just to hit a wall pretty early on and have all their hopes crushed, it can be pretty disappointing.

and most meta character have durability mechanic like shield, def or i-frame
shield can absorb some damage but can break when absorb too much
def is important for a character that has total def from passive and Fixed DNA over 30%
but ef up when meet def break or massive damage build or luck based critical build
and i-frame can withstand all damage but only at right timing because duration is very short

    J, if you're reading this, you can tap the power counter icon on the main menu and it will tell you where your power total is lacking if anywhere;
Or if you're on par for the current level, that's basically where you should probably do side content or wait for the day. I've never spent on lives or anything else I've got over 400 of the extra lives saved up.
Lastly, this game is generally pretty generous by gacha standards; there's are regular events that give loads of free pulls with guaranteed S-ranks, including several that are available at day one for new players.
Not sure if it changes anything for you, but the knowledge certainly improves things.

I remember getting into the beta, trying it, finding it neat but trying to play on phone was kinda annoying. I stopped playing the beta after about 2 hours and just...forgot. Then last year the GL version released, so I tried it on emulator. But apparently the GL version had issues...so I played TW and been playing it.
It's one of those games where at first you need to invest some time to focus on improving, especially since there's a wall like J mentioned. It happened to me too, so I stopped with the progressing part and just used the Dive to get materials and improve everything else. Power Evaluation is pretty important, moreso depending on your characters. If you pull the right charactewr, then you can ignore the Recommended Power.
Or at least I could once I got Dive Armor X since he's pretty broken in PvE. 2nd skill gives a shield that deals damage and gives your more survivability. With enough Stars to get the Skill Upgrade, you can make it also heal 25% of your max HP on use. Even when I was 200,000+ points behind the recommendation, I was clearing with no deaths, had some damage potential with a Neon Laser gun.
Nowadays I login and usually am off within 10-15 minutes since I can just Dive on most of the stages I need. I've finished all the Story stages so just waiting. Leveling is now a grind (Currently 123) and takes weeks for 1 level. Common for mobile games with gacha though, so the best thing to do is just build up in those 10-15 minutes. And/or pull for your [Robot] Husband/Waifu character.

My problem with P2Ws usually isn’t even the micro transactions (I mean those are dreadful, but I can usually at least play the game for a while if the game is at least streamlined). It’s the UI. Every mode, currency, event, etc is treated with equal prominence. So it’s difficult to figure out where I’m even supposed to start. And either they end up over-tutorialized, or they fail to properly convey any information. Immediately making me want to jump ship, P2W or not. I hate it.

Capcom is pretty notable of dropping those "collection tests"
It happened with darkstalkers long time ago for example, it sold poorly so they automatically assumed "nobody is interested in darkstalkers so there's no point of making a new darkstalkers game"
Thry did it too with street fighter and also the arcade compilation they released recently.
The problem is that their collections are pretty bad products with a ton of issues that they won't bother to fix, such as the inability of changing your controls in legacy X collection.
Also it's mind blowing how the legacy X collection is worse than the X collection in gamecube, the gamecube collection actually has the alternate music thing from the other versions of X1,X2 and X3, somehow legacy collection didn't bother to bring the ultimate experience.
It's hard for me to imagine they would actually make another megaman X collection so probably that's the last one we will get ever.

  • @MiaowGaiGar

In the interest of fairness, this game actually does a pretty good job of giving you what you need to get through the game from the gate; the default Buster you start the game with upgrades well and has good skills, making it viable even late in the game, and base X himself, while lacking in defensive options, is easy to upgrade and about middle of the road in terms of ability. Whether intentionally or not, this means you're never really screwed in terms of progression regardless of what the gacha throws at you.
You do have to be willing to deal with the most typical element in gacha games other than the gacha itself: resource management. Having to upgrade your weapons and characters is your true foe in this game, and without it you're going to fall behind and run into the problem our host did. It wasn't that he didn't have good enough characters, gear, or enough lives; it was that he didn't have good enough stats. Because he wasn't upgrading his gear and characters properly, this would have been a problem regardless of what he got, and incidentally, he had two of the best weapons in the game, the Biochemical Buster and the Sniper Buster, kinda proving that further, although as mentioned, the default Buster remains viable because of how cheap it is to upgrade, and its good skills and rate of fire. You seriously can use it well into Hard mode and be just fine. Sometimes you're just gonna have to grind, though, regardless of what you're rolling with; you'll never be able to play through the entire game in one continuous go, and as a result, you'll be repeating stages and challenges. That's just the nature of the beast; at the end of the day, X Dive is a mobile game first and a platforming action game second.
Obviously, damn near everyone is going to want new characters and new weapons for the fun of it, and something else that wasn't mentioned is that while every character handles the game's weapons the same way, they all have two active abilities unique to them, such as X's charge shot, and a handful of passive abilities that dictate their playstyle and which weapon types they favor, if applicable, so you're not just getting skins over the gameplay, for the most part. There are unquestionably some characters that are better than others, as well, but again, you don't _need_ them, so while getting screwed by the gacha is frustrating, it also doesn't mean you'll never be stuck as long as you're keeping yourself properly upgraded. You'll have to be patient with your gacha currency and not throw it at anything that sparkles, though, making sure to save it only for characters or weapons you really want, or will fill a hole in your arsenal.
That said, the three S-Rank characters you get one of at random via free beginner rewards are all viable as well, with Cinnamon being the least glamorous but probably the most beginner-friendly because she can heal herself, First Armor X being basically a better base X whose second skill grants brief invincibility, and Black Zero having solid abilities. I also want to say you can get the Biochemical Buster for free via new user rewards as well, but I don't recall.
Don't get me wrong, the gacha is bullshit and the game can be a bit of a slog because of its grind-heavy focus, but you're by no means required to pay to succeed; you just have to know what you're doing and be prepared to grind, which is just the nature of mobile games in general. You also have to accept that you can't upgrade everything and everyone you have right out of the gate; it's best to pick one or two characters and weapons and focus hard only on them early on to ensure they get powerful enough to progress through the game. Once you're at a point where you're consistently keeping up, then you can worry about trying new stuff.
It's not what I'd consider a great game overall, but if you _are_ interested, it's only fair that you know that the video doesn't really paint an accurate picture of what you're getting into. So if you're looking for a time sink that's Mega Man-themed and also surprisingly decent gameplay-wise, you could do worse.

It's fun...until the gacha wall, as it is with most gachas. As you said i loved that you can shoot and back away, that's such a neat touch and the lock-on was implemented well, as a megaman fan its neat, even seeing Bad Volnutt new design with his dumb sunglasses made me smile, it lives, Legends lives, it's crawling but it lives.
You CAN map the dpad if you tinker with Steam stuff, but its a bit crusty, idk if its cause I'm in brazil so the latency is wonky but sometimes it feels like my input wasn't being read properly, but it never got in the way, well, before ZE GREAT GACHA WALL, but i consider the gacha wall finishing gacha games so i stopped playing when i got to it, sure you can grind and do dailies to slowly get past the wall but that's where it stops feeling like a game and more like a job to me.

I haven’t spent a single dollar on this game but been playing at least 2-3hours a day and can make it to top30 in most events. I’ve done lot of research so I’ve been pretty smart about EM management so I have all the meta characters and weapons unlocked. You can get by all the PvE stages if you are really good at the game.
PvP is a different story tho. Without spending money, you’ll never make it past GA1. All the whales are gatekeeping that league.
So overall this game feels great, looks great, and with new events every month it keeps it fresh for me. Although the gatcha system and PvP makes you insane sometimes.

@@King-Giygaz yeah, it requires skills too of course. I said past GA1 because everyone at that level not only have 5* meta characters (which is attainable as F2P) but when you start adding the DNAs and 5* S cards, it’s simply impossible to beat them. I can barely scratch them even with my proto.exe because their defense boost is on a different level.

Yeah. X Dive was a great nostalgia trip and fun to play. However, whenever I would get stuck, more time would get invested. Time I didn't have xD
Eventually I would just at the very least log in everyday and do the missions. But even at that point, I wouldn't get many new units and when I could progress in the story, it would only get me through 2 more stages. And that would be after doing my log in and mission routine for a month or more.
I haven't spent a cent on this game, mostly because I never spend money on games like this. Not because of some special reason but just because, if I can get it free, I'll try. But I suppose the nature of micro transaction don't fit well for me cuz games like that gear more towards "success" if I spend money on it xD

I recently got a new phone though so I was halfway through giving it a shot and getting sort of used to the controls...but I'll have to see if it really ends up clicking with me at the end to keep it there, hook me enough to even have me try it on PC (if it is possible to use traditional controls which would be 10/10 for a game like this), or if I'm gonna drop out from it. That said, great to see your review of it happen to land the same day I decided to try it lol; will be good to see if it is for me or not at the end of the day.

So I just finished watching the video, and while it sounds that the game does indeed play well on a controller and has a lot of levels from previous games, I'm definitely not a fan of the idea of Hard Mode being artificially padded with enemies that take forever to kill, bosses that take forever to kill, and being unable to survive other than spending an horrible amount of time per level/boss, spending forever grinding for useful equipment or stats...or pull out your wallet, and I absolutely refuse to do the last for absolutely any game with microtransactions.
Well, guess it wasn't meant to be, but it does fit with the Steam reviews...glad to have watched all your MMX videos though; I know that its not even an MMX fangame, but I'd definitely recommend you to try 20XX and 30XX, which are clearly inspired on the MMX gameplay and I've played 20XX A LOT (the main gimmick is that levels are randomly generated)

  • @PassingNeet
    @PassingNeet 2 роки тому +6

the big thing with the road to getting to rank 100 is that you do need to focus on at the minimum a specific set of weapons, chips, and cards. Characters aren't actually affected by this so as long as you're fine with not having their passives or skill chips thats fair game, but everything else does have levels and you need to keep those up. Making sure you're around 30K power ahead of the curve is pretty essential unless you get a cheese strat like black armor zero's 4* passive+Raikousen CD down combo. once you get to 100 the games progression slows down dramatically, but it also gives you breathing room to expand your stuff outward rather than forward.
Its prudent to keep in mind that its a mobile game, and after around an hour of playtime, being generous, your gains on the front of developing your arsenal are pretty heavily diminished.

I played Dive when it first released globally on mobile. It actually had some half-decent controller support, so I played it for a couple weeks and was totally hooked. I ultimately dropped it, however, because progression was heavily time-gated.
You sort of mentioned how it would take either hours of grinding or an inflow of cash to get more powerful, but there was more to it than that. At later levels when you've finally used up all the excess stamina, you'll find yourself constantly in need of resources, from both grinding story and running the daily dungeons. But in both circumstances, you could only refresh things so many times; so, it eventually became a pattern of logging on, grinding what I could, and then putting the game back down until the next day.
I'm sure if I paid into it I probably would've been able to circumvent that somewhat, but IIRC even the whales were not immune to this time-gating, as even the top players were only so far above the rest power-wise. It just kind of wore on me, until finally I had to tell myself "if I'm not having fun playing a Mega Man game, a series that basically started my love of games, is it really worth trying to stick it out?"

To any newcomers, Cinnamon is one of the best characters for PVE. Her self-healing is already really good considering unlike the main games enemies in story mode do not drop healing items and the sub tank only works once per stage. But once she reaches five stars (this isn't easier said than done because any repeat characters give currency used to give any character more stars), you can make her healing move also give her a shield that completely nulls damage until it breaks or wears off *and* make her needle attack recharge her unique meter that would otherwise stop you from spamming the heal move. I strongly suggest you prioritize maxing her out before your favourite (Ferham is said to be pretty good too, but I don't have her and I'd rather not give advice I haven't tested).
As for my own gripes with the game, this review covered how Hard Mode is mandatory for story progression, which I agree sucks. But one thing that really bothers me is that the game picks some bosses that don't mix well with time limits, like Sting Chameleon (who gets *much worse* in the Jakob Elevator fight with two desynced Sting Chameleons at the same time under a time limit) or X4 final Sigma. In the early game, I agree that the power scaling sucks (though I'm glad there's a recommended power level instead of the unhelpful recommended level most gacha games have), but after I beat World 14 close to the recommended power level, I've been able to beat World 15 and 13 Hard in an afternoon thanks to Cinnamon.

Megaman Classic has been very useful to me in Jakob Elevator and Volnutt Alt's ability to activate invinvibility every time he heals make him surprisingly useful for a gag character. But the thing that makes Cinnamon stand out is that she's available since launch and gives you easy healing on top of that so that you don't need a sub tank taking one of two slots.

As a pass time, to play here and there it's doable and can be fun, specially if you play the coop stages with friends. But the grind is real, and PvP is mostly broken.
The last time I played it was about a month or two ago, but I enjoy seeing the announcement of new content (like Ryu Cosplayer Dr Light lol), the new art and 2D stages remade in 2.5D, characters, and some of it's ideas are interesting...

So honestly, the same thing happened to me with lives when I started the game. But they introduced the card system into the game which essentially allows you equip more stats your characters so you can actually continue playing probably up to world 8 or so until that rock hits. So yeah, you are right about that, but reading the in game dialogue and upgrading everything you can is key to enjoying the game. The gacha does not really matter at this point either, since all the A rank stuff is inevitable and enough to complete the game.
You should stick with it to see the events and play the later content the game has to offer, because story mode is probably only 5% of this game and once you complete it, you never properly come back to it again.

The microtransactions are predatory, and like half of the characters are just shameful. It's really cool to play as Vile MK 2 or Dr. Light in Ryu cosplay, but half of the roster is just swimsuit alts of the female characters and it gives me secondhand embarrassment for the devs. The game's idea of "difficulty" is inflating numbers for enemy attack and defense, and the level curve to keep up is very steep, so you're forced to spend a ton of time grinding for items to even stand a chance.
I can only recommend this game to platformer fans who own a bluetooth controller and can strongly resist spending money on a free app.
Also, it's sick that you got Nick from Planet Ripple to do some art!

The game definitely had the potential to be great but is overbloated with micromanagement systems daily. Like every day you spend like 30 minutes going through menus to get that Battle Power up so you can spend your next 30 minutes inching through progressing the story mode.
The gameplay itself boils down to hallways with bullet sponges that test how much you micromanaged, with minimal platforming and forced combat sections sprinkled all over the stage.
The game would've benefitted more by being a looter shooter type of game like Warframe where you spend your time/money gathering resources from missions to craft weapons, armors, characters, etc of your choice. Instead of using that time/money on a slot machine.
And "X DiVE"? More like "S RaNK". The sheer overabundance of S Ranks (the RAREST characters in gacha) is ridiculous and some of the characters don't even make sense being that rare, most of them should be A heck even B Ranks.
Hopefully someday fan game developers will just rip the assets off X DiVE and make an actual Mega Man game with it.

I've been playing xdive everyday for the last yr (with a controller) and i love it. What makes it easy is sticking to who you like and who fits your play style, and investing in only that character or few characters to make them stronger. the only money i really put into the game is for the monthly rewards after i get the last item on the list. i save up the in game currency i earn for things i know i want when they are released so that im not short and tempted to put my own money with the risk of not getting what im after. You just gotta play it smart and have self control lol. And count on your luck when they give away free pulls.

You didn't level right dude. Your chips suck, you have no leveled cards,...alright. Maybe you haven't played many games like this and that's ok. I myself haven't paid money, but I got as far as being rank 24 in the server. So I don't agree that this is like a standard mobile title. There are like seven different ways to unlock characters without spending money and the fact you spent 15 plus hours fighting a boss is egregious. Please, if you think there's a problem just ask for help. This game has an active community and they're pretty good at helping new players out. I actually kinda want you to continue playing because this game offers a lot that fans have been wanting for a long time. As a long time MegaMan enthusiast I feel that it would be sad for your journey in MegaMan X Dive to end on this note.

It's honestly fascinating how fast the mobile gaming industry evolved on a technological scale. About a decade ago we could barely play NES games on phones without them crapping out their existence and being 2 FPS. Nowadays phone games have the capability of having the graphics of 360 and PS3 games and can at least run in the double digits in the frames department consistently, that also coupled with just how much shit they jam pack in mobile games with all of these extra game modes. How fast we make technology more "efficient" is really interesting.

The only reason I was willing to give XDive a chance was because I put Vectorman on my phone about 9 months ago (free on the App Store!) and it actually handled really well for a touch screen, it’s obviously not as precise as a controller, but it also wasn’t totally unplayable and the frame rate is totally solid. I was a little disappointed with the controls of xdive after coming straight from Vectorman’s really solid Genesis 3-button controller being in the bottom of the screen. XDive on mobile plays totally differently than other MegaMan games, but after a couple of days and unlocking some cool weapons and getting past the initial highway stages I began to enjoy the game for what it did right instead of lamenting what it got wrong. Being able to play as so many fan favorite characters is a real treat. And I also had no idea that there were so many top shelf waifus in the Mega Man-iverse.

So coming from a guy who has had experience in regards to leveling in this game for about 6 months on my main, you apparently can get to chapter 6 if you wanted in this game in 2 days from starting and that's already a third of the total worlds made. There are many systems that you need to power up and to those who plan to start this game I recommend focusing on a few characters first to invest into, and a couple of weapons that you enjoy the most so its not as hard to level up initially. I recommend pressing the total power panel which shows you all the things you can power up and where you are lacking in and from there it's just a matter of being patient at times and mastering the game.
Gonna be honest though the claims of spending your time holds true and most of the times patience is a virtue in this game when it comes to getting characters you want, but hey that goes for most of the game with this genre, nothing is ever fully guaranteed unless you are prepared for it.
In any case, godspeed guys and good luck if you want to venture into this game. Have fun and don't sweat too much. Try to take the game at your own pace.

(also quick little thing, a central mechanic in this game is the power level. in the main menu you'll find a little meter and clicking on it takes you to a screen that tells you what you can do to raise it. the higher your power level, the stronger you are and the stronger you are, the more health you'll get and the more damage you'll deal. better armor can also be found in the co-op stages witch you can play alone. armor contributes a lot to your overall power level and the cards and chips you can get are awesome for this. the chips giving you a little boost to your weapons like say, a giant spike ball for your buster.)

Expecting getting characters easily tells me you're not familiar with these games. You are not supposed to get the characters in one play and it is not impossible to get the characters, even without paying. The game has it's incentives for players to pull for characters in various ways. Free 10 pulls, event rewards, even playing the game itself yields some units. I've been playing since day one as low spender and I could confidently say I got a great portion of the cast. Since I don't spend much, naturally I can't expect to acquire more than the rest and that is for copies of characters and that's ok.
Not all gacha games are created equal and I feel demonizing Xdive just for the reputation of the formula it's unfair.
The game even spares you from pulling excesively since once you get a character, you can raise it with special currency that you get by playing so no need to further spend on banners. As I said on another comment, something I wish other games replicated.

The example you gave about devil may cry 5 microtransactions deserves a bit more clarifying. Higher-ups at capcom really wanted the game to have microtransactions and even the devs were unhappy about it so to counter it they created a microtransactions system that is essentially useless. Pay money to get orbs BUT there’s a weapon in the game that produces orbs plus orb farming tech. They made a monster and then they shot it. Just for us.

I got some what i think are great ideas for an x game
There are only four mavericks but have 4 stages each, in each set of stages focus on a certain theme which gets mixed with another once you get to the third one and the boss will be based around that. Such as say Sting Grasshopper being focused on fiery acid and the weapon you get from him would start barely usable but still functional, the player would then need to upgrade it like the zero games star system but with only 5 stars this will ( in verg voice) motivate players to use them especially if a lot of enemies are vastly easier with them in in other stage sets which could create a weakness chain but for stage and boss
    For fun my maverick names
    Sting Grasshopper( acid & fire)
    Bubble snake( water & electricity
Flappy Bird( paper & glue/sticky goop)
Sky Bison( wind & storm (so like rain and stuff))

Literally if I just got regular Iris I would be fine. I haven't played over the past year and just started on the global but it's like her and other characters are just omitted on every banner listing. Are they just gone for anyone starting now or do they rotate characters eventually? Also, if she just straight up has a banner that has come on occasion I would be more than happy to start saving.
Does anyone know? I can't find a reliable calendar for banners. Which is funny if global is supposed to be following the order released on Taiwan server.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who notices this. Micro-transactions are not inherently bad, as CoD:Mobile shows us, but time sinks are.
