    You have to do Bushy parkrun in Greater London! The home of parkrun, surrounded by deer in the park, very flat and just celebrated its 1000th edition. Usually around 1000-3000 people take part - stiff competition! It’s also the original site where the D-day landings were planned. Lots of history!

    Hi Nick I just wanted to say that I love your channel, I find it very inspiring to watch runners such as yourself who love the sport of running.
    I really enjoy listening to tips that you provide as I am new'ish' to running, I started just over a year ago and have improved lots. Still don't understand what I should be doing next to take my speed to the next level, I really want to be as fast as you one day. Currently I have a PB of 41:36 for 10k and my overall goal is to be in the 30mins bracket/ just as fast as I can be as I want to compete for trophies 💪 I am very competitive, have ADHD so I am always full of energy 😂 and I am very determined when my mind is set on a goal.
    Do you offer coaching as I would love you to coach me to my goal and offer me personal tips on how to improve from your years of experience that you have 💪🏃🏻

  • @kenmare16
    @kenmare16 2 місяці тому +2

    Best piece of kit to have is a chest strap heart monitor for training. Heart rate is good measure of exertion. Controllling this allows you to progressivly adapt to greater running stress as pace and duration increase while also avoiding injury. Building an aerobic base through low heart rate training over time while concentrating on improving running mechanics for better energy efficiency are the key. Worked for me. There are no quick fixes. My local parkrun has a lot of hills and turns which i see as a positive as it builds strength and endurance essential for running faster times on other flatter courses. Warm ups also elevate heart rate and blood flood with oxygen to muscles to avoid a massive heart rate spike and that near death feeling caused by oxygen demanding muscles early in a run.Therefore warm up well just before you parkrun to run a PB. Mingling and socialising at parkruns are better left till after the run is over.

    • @sebjessup123
      @sebjessup123 2 місяці тому +1

      Agreed, but I find the armband HRM just as precise and so much less obstructive than a chest strap!

    Recommend Walsall Arboretum parkrun. 3 flat tarmac laps in a beautiful park. Course record there is 14 mins 12 seconds, it's super quick. It is still possible to view the course records and the fastest 100 male and female at each course via the stats in the 5k app. If you know where to look, it's easy to view them. Plus age grade records.
