      Speed kills. You could only manage 1 mile - less than 4% of the marathon - as a result of having increased your best marathon pace by about 16%. May I ask, were you surprised? Or maybe you're surprised that we're so surprised.

    i did my first run (17.1k with absolutely no training) in 73 min, but was not able to improve as much as you.
    but i was only 15.5 years old back then. at the age of 17 i did 10miles in 55:38 min and then retired. 😶

    What’s your thoughts on training on a tread for the majority of your runs? I’m in an extremely cold area. The winters are snow and ice. So I train on my tread mostly during these months.

    • @sebjessup123
      @sebjessup123 9 місяців тому +1

      I do most of my speedwork on a treadmill as well during winter to avoid ice. As long as you keep a 0.5-1% incline on it, I think it's decent compared to outdoors. I'm nowhere near as fast as he is, so I'dbe curious to see if the opinion is shared, but still, aiming for 2h48 in the spring

    • @justalilbester
      @justalilbester  9 місяців тому +1

      Very well said. So in those conditions you need to train on a treadmill. It’s your only option. It can be a great training tool. When conditions get better outside then try do the bulk of your running outside as ultimately races are on road.

    I've heard that 1% treadmill think before but have never been able to get any actual science behind it so I ignore. There is also so much variation between treadmills...I never get close to my road training pace on a treadmill and also never get close to my race pace in training so I reckon you have a few more miles at that pace in you 😂
