I raced for the third time yesterday, in Stavanger. I love that it's so open for anyone, and all personal victories are celebrated. I ran for the first time under 40 min, which for me is a victory!
@@clivewitcomb2839 210!! Wow, that's mindboggeling for me! I'll have to try to catch up. 😅 Love how inclusive park run is, it's about your own journey, together with others. So for those that are motivated by the race aspect, they'll find someone to push them, like Göran does in this video, for me, it's about finding someone a little bit faster than me, and trying to keep up with them. And then thanking them for being that inspiration. Or hearing that someones managed to run 210 parkruns, and wanting that number of parkruns under my own belt. I hope someone will say that to me one day. 😆🤞
@@oddbob6675 I've yet to try running them! I just walk up, and whenever it evens out, try jogging a bit. The first time I saw that first hill, I just laughed.
Holy shit that overlay was incredible! So cool to see all the relevant stats and the course map at the same time. If I could make one suggestion, the "distance" metric was kind of just a line getting slowly filled up maybe it could have been replaced with an elevation profile? You could still have the distance counter under it as a number but I think the elevation would be more interesting than just a distance progression bar. But that's just my opinion of course! Really really awesome content!
Parkruns are great fun. I've come second a few times and thought I'd pulled a miracle the other day when the two guys in front of me ignored the finish and continued running, leaving me first to cross the line with a PB of 17:06. For some reason I was still second and first was 'unknown' with no time. One day I'll get there!
Coming from England (outside London) where I have 7 parkruns to chose from within 30 minutes drive and one that is 2 minutes walk that has 1000+ every week, I hope it catches on in Norway like it has here.
here in New zealand the 50th parkrun is starting on saturday. i started parkrun in may this year and have done 7 so far, i got my 9/12 year old sons to join me for 2-3 times each and ive lowered my pb 3 times from my pre-parkrun 5k times. my local parkrun is 1.5km so thats pretty handy. im so grateful a runner i met online encouraged me to parkrun as otherwise i wouldnt get up early on a saturday to run usually (8am start here is pretty cold)
Goran is the best running youtuber and, for me, the most consistently interesting in general with all new videos - there hasn't been a single bad one. Perfect tone of educating and entertaining 🙌 Congratulations on the win!!
Parkrun is great. We got introduced to them while we’ve lived in Germany, but would love to start one if needed when my family and I move back to the US. Good job!
Great to see parkrun coming to Norway. We've been fortunate to attend nearly 600 over the years at 284 locations. Have won a few inaugurals too like yourself. Now we're happy to Vlog them. 83 and rising so far. We alternate between a scenery run and racing now.
Being from the UK and now a travel dude, I always miss ParkRun when living in a country without it. It gives me a goal every single week. Even if I'm just doing a recovery run, somebody will always be at max effort next to me which is super motivating. So happy to see it spreading. Austria in the last couple years and now more in Norway! Hope to see you at a local ParkRun there at some point in the future and loving the videos of course! :)
17:13 is incredible, especially on a pretty hilly course, maybe you can do a series where you train to break 17 minutes in the 5k, maybe even 16 minutes in the 5k, the same way you did with the sub 9 minute 3k? I would LOVE to see that. Good job on the 5k and continue to make amazing videos!
I really like your channel. That is an amazing time - my body is not yet capable of doing this, maybe one day! Beautiful parkrun, and a very well produced video, bravo!
So happy to see Parkrun expanding in other countries. It helps so many people, and pushed my running up some knotches. What beautiful scenery, and well done on your performance.
Ran a parkrun in SW England yesterday. So great to see it continue to spread around the world. Congrats for winning the first ever one in your hometown :)
My weekly Parkrun is an out and back course. On the way back I always say some encouraging words to the people I'm passing and I'm 100% certain it makes me go faster and helps me push through the pain.
Love showing the HR and pace! I always think something is wrong with me when my heart rate tops out after only a few minutes into a race so it was good to see how yours reacts. 165bpm for that pace is insane as I would be at like 185 and dying. But so nice to know that elite runners aren’t crushing at 120bpm and that they are actually working hard
Looking forward to trying this Parkrun at some point! My local Parkrun is Løvstien in Bergen, a quite challenging and hilly course (130-140m of gain total) with a great view of the city. I volunteer there regularly, and we would of course love to see you there sometime!
Glad to hear you liked it, don’t think there are any more data I can put on screen that would as value to the video. But let me know if you have some ideas 😊
I have to credit Parkrun for helping me improve my running. I started running almost a year ago, but I started Parkrun about 9 months ago, and it helped push me to another level. For me, it's a good social event. I go with my friends and we go for a swim and have coffee afterwards. On Sunday, I will run my first marathon. I was training for the half, but I didn't register in time. I have been training longer runs, but the regularity of Parkrun is a big part of why I am now able to do this big race. That and Göran's videos 😄
Were you running in Italy 🇮🇹? Just a joke about the shape of the course. But seriously, that is an amazing course and I would think the terrain and the slight elevation adds a minute to your time. Watching you run up that hill was impressive too! Congrats, that was an excellent win in your first park run! 🏃♂️
Amazing time and what a nice scenery. I would like to run a Parkrun too but I am not an early bird. I am used to run or go to the gym in the late afternoon or evening.
@Goran Winblad Just watched the Olympic 1500m... what a competitive race. I guess Ingebrigtsen got his race tactics a bit wrong. I enjoy all the videos, all the best from the UK.
Great content, congratulation for first place and simply amazing how 'low' your heart rate is compared to the pace. My best 5km race pace was around 4:30min/km with a peak heart rate of 203 😂
In high school cross country 5ks, you have to start off fast because there's no way you are making up that gap on a hilly muddy course with a bunch of people in the way. If someone goes out too fast, hang on to them because they'll definitely slow down.
Yep, not a race - Parkrun call it a “timed run” - not a race. Maybe the first five or ten race it, but most are just out for the exercise and friendship. That’s the fun of it.
Hi Göran, nice video and a very good run! Congratulations! Two quick questions if you dont mind: 1. Is there a club for newbies when it comes to running in Moss? 2. What kind of shoes is best for that kind of surface? Would Saucony Triumph/Brooks Glycerin/Saucony Guide be ok, or is it to soft?
As a parkrun addict in Australia 🇦🇺 with nearly 40 different location I’ve ran at, I must say this is a beautiful course! What is the live tracking you are using on screen? Love your stuff by the way.
