Love when you take us all along with you Damian. The Spider is gorgeous, no question, but if it were my money, the F8 Tributo with that F40 style rear screen with slats over the engine bay wins. Wonderful design touch and tremendous new Ferrari. Totally agree with your strategy. Enjoy the Tributo... and if a special edition comes up, snap that one up. PS. Hopefully thoughts of selling the 360 Challenge Stradale have been banished. Lol Forza Ferrari !
Good call on the track car / road car reasoning. Also, I'm not sure why Ferrari doesn't redesign their Spiders to have a clear panel to show the engines.
Went to my dealer, Stratstone Ferrari Wilmslow last Wednesday to see the same car. Lovely motor. A beautiful evolution of the 488 Spider. Started it up in the showroom. It was then that I realised that why I’m still sticking to my 458 Spider unless Ferrari can improve on the acoustics. That’s my take chaps.
That was a great walk around! The F8 has really caught my eye and now in spider... it would be my choice, but for track the coupe. Thanks for that. Brilliant video!
Nice camera work. Thanks for the inside and outside tour. Will the F8 special edition version be released before you take delivery of your Pista? That would be a kick in the jingle bells.
Hate to say it but the new Corvette C8 has this beat for me. Its about to be announced with RHD for the British market and Ferrari dosent one up manship GM in its design cues anymore. The C8s design dosent need that voluptuous look to make a statement. I rather like GMs fighter plane layout.
That is a beautiful car, love the silver, and I am amazed at how good looking the tan interior is! When you said tan with silver I flinched at first -- but it is gorgeous together.
Damian I have to say the F8 Spyder looks fantastic, but I would go for the F8 Tributo hard top for UK track purposes. I’m envious that you’ve got the option to select one of these. Well done!
Nonsense...only very, very experienced track drivers will be able to push the car to limits where chassis-flex actually is noticeable. For the rest of us, it makes zero difference...
You are right about that F8 being a stunner. Silver and tan really works. Such a sculptured look. Art. But those carpets... be afraid to put your muddy boots on them. Thanks for sharing Damian
That particular car toured all over Europe, I suppose. I have been sitting in it at the presentation in Düsseldorf on November 20 th 2019. Gorgeous! Take a look at the wheels at 3:36 forward. The design of the rims is different in that way, that it is mirrored from one side of the car to the other.
They've done pretty well on exterior styling, interior is a letdown and hasn't evolved/improved since 458 which would be a deal breaker for me, regardless of what colour the seats are or how much carbon they stick to it.
No doubt it is a beautiful car. This is a very difficult choice. The F8 coupe is also a beautiful car. I guess it is really down to which car ticks the most boxes for you. The other thing is if it was your only Ferrari the choice might be different then the decision you face. If I owed the cars you do I would buy the F8 coupe and change my 812 coupe to the GTS. That I think is a fantastic duo of cars.
I think the Spider is the better looking of the 2 over the hard top. The hard top is still stunning though!! That silver with tan interior is mega cool!!
Good day, good sir. As a man of discerning taste you should consider getting the Lada Samara Cabriolet, also called "Natasha". Now thats how you name a convertible.
What a stunning looking car, but Ferrari are not doing themselves any favours with such a quick succession of new models. Great video Damian, thanks for taking us along .. 👍
I have to admit I'm starting to lose track of the current Ferrari line up, as well as a lot of the other exotic car makers for that matter. From a kid into my 20s I knew them all but these days if I take my eye off the ball for a few months and step back in there's yet another more hardcore version launched of the current model, alongside the replacement base model, speciale this, pista that, tributo......exhausting. Appreciate you guys bringing us these in depth videos, gives me half a chance of keeping somewhat up to date. Oh, and ALWAYS the hardtop. Spiders for the more reserved, posing-mobiles
Decisions, decisions I love the spider as well. It eclipsed my love of the Tributo. But the Tributo is making a comeback in my heart because you can see the engine and it has better lines.
Looks really awesome. Love the tan leather interior - the seats, in particular, look great! Not sure about those wheels, though - I feel Ferrari needs to up its wheel game. Also, I'd have liked to have seen part of the rear engine cover in glass - maybe glass slats instead of the carbon fibre.
Absolutely stunning looking car, feel for you that your pista has been superseded before you’ve took delivery, why are Ferrari bringing out so many cars? Great video again, keep them coming!
I don't understand how Ferrari can come out with another car when they haven't even delivered all the older ones yet? That is bizarre. Is it even worth it to still get the Pista Spider at this point?
@@TheCarGuysTV By the time you get your Pista Spider they will be having the event for the announcement of the Pista version of the F8 and I am only half kidding. lol

Oh, and await inevitable recession and subsequent classic car price crash and then bundle in and scoop up as many as you can before they're banned. With the spider you will be able to hear the engine better and I heard the lexan on the Tributo makes the rear visibility more difficult. Is that true?
Or for one-third the price with lower maintenance time and costs, get a fully equipped C8 Corvette, 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, naturally aspirated, advanced electronics, dual clutch transmission, removable top or a convertible (spider), a similar metallic white with tan interior, etc. Astounding.
Looks a stunning way to lose a massive amount of money on depreciation. The number of cars they are producing and then evolving is insane. Unless it gets you on a special list for a real gem in the future.
The music gets very irritating, I'm afraid - as it always does in car videos. As for the car not a huge step on, but the dashboard is a massive improvement on 458/488 - always thought they were a mess, especially the weird angular vents: these are much better, I reckon. Oh and well done you for tracking these things!
@@TheCarGuysTV It might be only me who has such a visceral hatred of music in car videos, to be fair - I think it's because music is such a personal thing that most people will dislike whatever it is.
I think so as well, the thinner headlights make the front look too wide. Felt like they didn't know what to do after the 488, tried to copy the Hurican and failed.
i wished they made the SF90 the Tributo ...i like the hard top love the Lexon over the spider as well...it is beautiful to look at....thank you so much Damian for sharing this launch....Cheers
If you do swap you will be in the same situation by the time it gets delivered cause Ferrari is pushing cars out every year, it's a never ending game, stick with your choice.
@@TheCarGuysTV Thanks for this. On a separate matter, will you be interested in doing a video on how to maintain a Ferrari and what to lookout for repairs? Love to learn more on how best to keep my Ferrari for the longer term.
Beautiful car. This one is starting to grow on me but not sure I'm ready to give up my 458 Italia (which has the same color scheme)for it. Good video. Keep em coming :)
Hi Lads: this is the 458 Canadian guy. I`d buy the F8 spider because you get 2 cars in one. Forget that Lexan screen in the back....it`s not worth 200k quid.
The Tributo will make a very nice 458 replacement and the Spider is surely a romantic looking thing. With this release schedule, I worry they will invite you to the F8 Pista Aperta reveal this time next year - just as your Pista Spider has been delivered. While these cycles crush the flipping trade, the brand impact is hard to ignore. Thank you for sharing.
I saw one today. I agree, one of the best looking Ferrari’s yet. Hard choice to make, they both look great. I don’t know how I feel about the screen on the Tributo though.
It's a good-looking machine but not really one I lust after. When the 458 came out my jaw dropped, Same with the F12. I kind of miss that with the newer cars Ferrari has launched recently.
It is a really stunning looking car. Couldn't agree more with you as the hardtop is where I'd place my money. I love the Lexan rear screen & that is what does it for me.
if you're not looking to get that extra tenths of a second off your track time i don't see why you would get the hard top. there are way more pros than cons when driving a convertible, the biggest one probably being the noise/theater, parking is ridiculously easy, checking your blind spot. For everyday use it's the clear winner, i'd go spider and being that it is ferrari, the performance vs a hardtop isn't going to be compromised by all that much if at all. Probably won't notice unless you take both car to the limit...spider for me please!

Spot on Damian. It’s hard to stomach the sheer frequency of Ferrari launches 🚀 and the inevitable disappointment of any Ferrari punter who hasn’t even received delivery of their dream order only to find out that such event has been surpassed by a new launch making your dream feel more than a bit less special. A pity that Ferrari have chosen this path although I would dare to say that it is rooted in “arrogance” since they know they can get away with it and they don’t literally don’t give a about their Tifosi clientele. Perhaps they are due a reality check. On that note, can’t wait to read and see an upcoming Tesla Roaster 2 versus SF 90 Stradale review! 😳
Have you seen SF90 Stradale in person? On photos and videos it doesn't seem to be that beautiful, but knowing Ferrari I can imagine that in real it could be amazing. I would like to know your opinion on SF90 stradale.
Damian, may i ask, what is the fascination with racing to buy the next ferrari product before you've even enjoyed the current one? Love your content, but this race without a finish line is surely not enjoyable? In 20 years time, will you even remember your time with some of these cars?
Hi Ben, It's not a question of racing to buy the next one, it's more a question of finding the ones you want to keep long term. The 488 was to get a Pista (Spider) - which is hopefully a keeper. In this episode we debate whether a hard top or convertible would be best if we were going to have an F8. That's not to say we are going to have one, but it's more interesting to cover new cars like this from a potential ownership angle, because that's what we are - legitimate potential owners.
Stunning looking car. Agree with your decision to keep the hard top with lexan rear window. Do you know if either F8 model has rear wheel steering? Would seem to be a sensible option for a car with this much power and torque.
And the GTC4 Lusso. But, don’t you think that with less care for engineering standards of road surfaces, off-cambered corners, and more power in these categories of cars, the option to have 4 wheel steering (like on the Porsche 911 series) is a sensible and safer driving proposition?
Nice video. Yes, stick with the hard top - the view of that engine, plus you have the Pista Spider coming. I assume form your end comments that you think that this excellent car (F8TRibuto and now Spider) that even above your previous comments, 488 prices are plunging like lead weights? As 458 was the last naturally aspriated V8, I guess the question is when will 488 prices get below 458? (Only a matter of time, surely?) Good Luck!
You are right, but if the magic is lost the numbers will maybe drop then everyone has lost out. And then it’s just another car company producing great cars but with some magic lost. I may be on my own here but how ever good say Rolls Royce are I think there is just something missing now, and I know that might be because they are owned by someone with some other company’s parts in places but it’s the heritage and history that make car companies like Ferrari and Rolls
Beautiful car but the rate at which Ferrari are introducing new models makes it impossible to own the latest thing and maybe adds to the appeal of the Pista Spyder which can stand or fall on its own merits because you know that the F8 Spyder will itself be superseded by the time it’s delivered.
I like the passion (testosterone) for purely enjoying automobiles has a man; when I’m ready to purchase my cars, I’ll surely get in touch with you guys. Keep up the good enjoyment/fun.
Im getting my Pista Spider in May and i really think the look of the Pista Spider as well performance is superior to the F8 - until the special edition...
Very interesting business model Ferrari has. Introduce a new car, get buyers, never ship the new car, introduce the next model that replaces the ones you haven't shipped to the customers yet, repeat...buyers will just keep giving Ferrari money and never actually get a new car. They are geniuses!
WAITING FOR YOUR DETAILED IN-DEPTH REVIEW OF THE F8 TRIBUTO, COMPARING AGAINST THE 458, AS WELL AS 488 !!! IF COULD POSSIBLE, PLEASE DO A COMPARISON WITH THE HURACAN EVO, WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED!!! THANK YOU!!!
I think you’re right with the Tributo and agree that the silver on that model really brings out the lines. Are Ferrari just bringing out too many new models these days though, I’m loosing track !.

Yeah it defo annoy me but will the piste be as special as the 458 speciale or are there starting to be too many?? There all stunning there really on a roll with there current design ethos
Stunning car, but would stick with the hardtop if you plan to track it. Would cancel the 488 Pista spider order if possible, sharing concerns that the general downturn in the market in combination with imminent new models, will impact residuals.
I do hope that I am wrong and your continued purchases from this brand is rewarded handsomely... not just in the pleasure you will derive from driving what will undoubtedly be an incredible car!
It’s a good looking car for sure but they really should update the interior more. But what do I know? They make 34% profit per car and we keep lining up to buy them. The Pista spider will always be worth more than the standard F8 Spider.
If I owned more than one iteration of this Ferrari, yes. I would want a fixed top as one of them. However, if I could only own one, I personally would go for the spider. How many track days out of any year could I possibly go to. I think less than five.
The F40 is my all time favourite so the hard top with the perspex back cover just makes it awesome.

Yeah I love the look of the 458 particularly it’s side profile; it’s very Le Man I think.

The models just come out sooo quickly these days. One of the reasons I moved away from Ferrari to Aston. I am in love with the 812 GTS though😏
I,m wondering the same
I prefer the simpler lines of the 458. Since then the 488, pista and tributo look a bit too American.
Love it, but please Ferrari calm down too many models coming out you don’t need to follow McLaren!! The brand doesn’t need it
They surpassed mclaren in that sense
Ian Tonna think your right. Also think the F8 is a year too early
@@phillipcollins1103 it might backfire
You are right, but if the magic is lost the numbers will maybe drop then everyone has lost out. And then it’s just another car company producing great cars but with some magic lost. I may be on my own here but how ever good say Rolls Royce are I think there is just something missing now, and I know that might be because they are owned by someone with some other company’s parts in places but it’s the heritage and history that make car companies like Ferrari and Rolls
That looks beautiful. Fabulous lines. Bit of a standout for me.
Thanks, Tony 👏👏
Great video
Bite ur hand looks
As ol roger Moore would say
What a handsome craft
Such stunning lines
👍👍👍👍 you cannot beat a Roger quote
I love Fridays now we have a proper weekly car show! Although the spider is gorgeous, definitely stick with the tributo Damian.
Hardtop w/ perspex gets my vote, for a sypder, I'd go with a 720S
IF COULD POSSIBLE, PLEASE DO A COMPARISON WITH THE HURACAN EVO,
WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED!!!
THANK YOU!!!
Blimey, you don’t want much, do you? 😂
Thanks for the first look at this stunning car. I think you are making the right move keeping the hard top F-8.
I think you’re right with the Tributo and agree that the silver on that model really brings out the lines.
Are Ferrari just bringing out too many new models these days though, I’m loosing track !.
Beautiful car, although I’m a hard top fan over a spider. I hate the wheels though.
FERRARI IS AN ICON FOR ME BUT LATELY THEY ARE LOOSING THERE EXCLUSIVITY,I WANT TO PUT MYSELF IN ONE,LOVE THE V12S THE 812 IS LOST SO MUCH ALREADY,SAD THEY ARE PRODUCING TO MANY NEW CARS,LOVE THE CAR GUYS AS THEY ARE THE MOST HONEST LADS WHEN TALKING EVERYTHING ABOUT FERRARI,I WILL PROBABLY BASE MY PURCHASE ON THERE HONESTY AND SENSIRITY OF THE BRAND,KEEP KNOCKING THEM OUT GUYS,YOU ARE ONE OF THE MOST WATCHABLE LADS ON UA-cam
Yeah it defo annoy me but will the piste be as special as the 458 speciale or are there starting to be too many?? There all stunning there really on a roll with there current design ethos
No, the Pista will not be AS special as the Speciale, but it is still special.
Take the spider through a tunnel if you get the chance. Then you'll really know which one you want ;)
You could just open the windows of the Tributo :)
Stunning car, but would stick with the hardtop if you plan to track it. Would cancel the 488 Pista spider order if possible, sharing concerns that the general downturn in the market in combination with imminent new models, will impact residuals.
Never get rid of the a Pista Spider
I do hope that I am wrong and your continued purchases from this brand is rewarded handsomely... not just in the pleasure you will derive from driving what will undoubtedly be an incredible car!
That's one tasty Ferrari. I'm nursing a semi.
😂😂😂
It’s a good looking car for sure but they really should update the interior more. But what do I know? They make 34% profit per car and we keep lining up to buy them. The Pista spider will always be worth more than the standard F8 Spider.
Yes that's completely true
If I owned more than one iteration of this Ferrari, yes. I would want a fixed top as one of them. However, if I could only own one, I personally would go for the spider. How many track days out of any year could I possibly go to. I think less than five.
