gameranx yea, I played it for a little bit on ps4, but kinda got bored, just not my type, it is a bit like Minecraft tho, not the graphic wise, kinda-sorta gameplay wise, and i liked Minecraft, but I guess ark just isn't my type of game, also you would need to invest a lot of time to get to higher levels and stuff like that. But i can also understand why there's a fanbase.
i just bought the game for xbox can you help me. if you decide to help me message me at JoshRobinson180 and i will message you back after the game has downloaded. so i hope to hear from you also i have a mic.
JoeyDaPlayer Yes it is I remember when my friend helped me tame my first ever Dino a Trike I loved him so much but I left the tribe and made my own and I’m onto better things :)
Ng, being a low level, knocking out a gig realizing you don't have the stuff to tame it, it waking up next to you, running away and ending up enevidably dying
I am going to admit it pretty much is chores especially if your in a tribe for example: feeding the dinos, watering and fertilizing the crops, building turrets, and much much more but ark is really fun and ive been playing it for 3 years and i met my best friends on xbox through it. My funniest story is when i tried out pvp for the first time on a dedicated server, I built a base and didn't know what turrets were or anything so i just has spiked walls. I went out to tame a mammoth and i get back to my base blown in half but some people on the server gave me some stuff and i joined their tribe. The people that gave me stuff are my best friends on xbox still and a reminder that this was three years ago. From when i got raided a year later while playing ark i found out my friends that gave me stuff were the ones that raided me and felt bad. sorry for the long essay lol.
I too didn't know what turrets were, and the first time I tamed a pteradon (sp) I spent forever (Had no idea what kibble was at the time) And literally got shot down within 5 seconds of going upwards on my first flight. Naturally being the sour person I am I went on to only spend 350 more hours with the game. Only. Also ended up repeating this incident with a very well bred argy while exploring a part of the northwest i wasn't familiar with. Circle of ark.
I usually play on single player since my WiFi isn’t the best, and if your on single player, I recommend playing with the multipliers a bit. It can make the game a lot less time consuming and fun to play. My basic multipliers are 4x taming 6x harvest and 3x supply crate loot. Also be sure to enable single player settings so it doesn’t still take 5 hours to tame a Rex. Thank you!
Why would you grind for that long? Did you forget it was a pvp server? Just get raiding gear and go out raiding bases that's how pvp is meant to be played
I'm a bit of a new player to the game, i haven't really seen any tutorials of how to play. But i think one of the funniest experiences I had with this game was when i was looking for my friend in a server we just joined. He said he was up on a hill so i began making the trek up, and the bush growth became quite dense. After a minute or two of climbing, i was passing through the next bit of bush growth, only to find a T-Rex head inches from my face. All my friend hears from my mic is: *gasp* OHJEEZWHATTHEHELLRIUHFAIUEFHISUHGSDIUKGXHSIUDKZHJYNGISH and other gibberish along those lines...it shocked me so much especially since i was NOT expecting it, and it was my first encounter with a T-Rex up close.
Dude I screamed my head off when I got jumpscared by a T-rex the first time. I had just tamed an ankylo and was happily riding it, until I walk past a rock only to find a T-rex staring at me. RIP Anky
My favorite moment was shortly after it was released on early access on steam a friend and I joined a public server and started a small wood hut. Got some tames and made some walls. We went out exploring and our screen started shaking. We both laid down in some bushes when a huge tribe of people riding Rex's went running by, It was equally scary as it was tense. We had a tribe of around 12 people running by us just yards away from where we were laying down in bushes.
First time I bought this game, I wanted to see what being alone was like. What the game was, and how it felt on your own at the beginning since...I had no friends to play the game with, and I thought I would be alone in the world full of murderous beasts of the past. I was on the center, since it looked neat, and seemed more different than Scorched Earth and The Island. First spot I settled for nearly a week as on a beach at the northern islands. I built a raft to go around, and made a tribe for myself called the "House of Nomads", as I would have multiple bases for multiple purposes, since I thought there would be a sort of wiping mechanic or water disasters. A week has past and I made 4 bases; one for smelting and gathering resources on a main island, one for flying and travelling for crates, one for residing and just waiting it out, and another for storage and collecting important materials. I felt proud of myself, having 2 pteranodons, a Quetzal (which are a bitch to get solo, by the way), an ankylo, and 3 trikes with a bronto. "I think I'm ready" I remembered to myself, and I exit my singleplayer world and went onto an official server on ARK. It was a very rough start at first, especially with people just killing me for no apparent reason. But I soon made a small 4x4 wooden base besides what's known as an "Alpha Tribe". I didn't know what they were at first, and they had T-rexes, so I thought "Maybe they'll ask nicely for me to leave, I'm sure they must be looking for other tribemembers, or want to be alone when they notice I'm on making my own base." It took nearly 3 hours to start up on my own, and without a tribe of sorts besides my nomadic tribe, I went to sleep and left the game until the next morning. I woke up to a sign in front of me saying "Are you new here?". It was made by the same people that had the rexes! I got so happy that maybe they would invite me, or show me the ropes of the game, so I replied with another sign saying "Yes, I am. This is my first time playing on multiplayer :D" And that's when I learned...I made a grave mistake. The next day, I had tamed a level 15 pteranodon, and I had passed out due to having a rough morning. I woke up to this: My pteranodon was killed by a level 184 T-Rex, and I was killed by a man who was in that tribe. My base was completely gone, and I had to start all over. I respawned in the lower sectors of the Island, onto to spawn in a house, stuck between a stone stairway, and a stone wall. I respawned again, to only find myself surrounded by metal spikes, and again...And again. This was the moment when I realized that starting off wasn't hard. It was a nightmare to just survive a fucking night in this game on multiplayer! I went to a boosted server from an unofficial pc server list and I met some of the nicest people that day. They helped me survive the ARK, and sent me to my very first boss fight with the Broodmother. They showed me how to farm plants, what quality crates are and how to properly gather resources and what can be best for what. I still appreciate what they do for me today, as they sometimes help me out when I'm having trouble being their tribe's farmer and scout for animals. My advice for anyone starting off on ARK is to NOT head on official at the start, unless you want to be broken from the inside out. Head to unofficial servers, you may find yourself having a better experience, and possibly meeting friends to help you through this harsh game.
Is this game worth playing it as a single player ? I mean I bought it before the official realease and got it dirt cheap but im more of a single player type of guy I havent invested into the game, if the servers get wiped will it affect me ? also what does endgame single player feel like ? is it boring? Im thinking about reinstalling it but dont wanna waste my time. answers anyone ??
To be honest: Your comments are making me happy guys : ) I am so tired reading about all the people moaning about ARK and forgetting about the great stuff you can experience. Of course there is some time-consuming and cruel things going on without a tribe and as a new player. But there are this other _kind_ people you meet and those unique ark-moments you have that makes the game so great
actually really suggest newbie go unofficial server if just fresh started playing this game and train some skill for survive from internet A**HOLE which exist in official server.... because official is tired due to its harvest rate taming rate and for the newbie which got no kibble for each dino and needed to spending 10 more hours beside a t-rex just to waiting its eating food and tame it..... newbie will easily feel tired to game if the realise the dino which spend them whole day to tame and once they wake up it had being murded by others ppl, they usually will feel sad and rage quit the game... at least some of my fren did that. so what i suggest is go play at unofficial server. due its not only can getting more knowledge on farming and taming or even pvp in short time due to the high harvest rate in unofficial... u might also able to having the skill which official server need and u will be able to join the alpha tribe in official server so u will have another kind of feeling which unofficial cannot give u which is the stress when ur tribe decide to invade others server or defence the invade from others server..... that farming stress srsly no kidding..... an advise from official server player haha
My favorite Ark experience was the first time I played ark with my friend one summer. I had Argy named Barnes who I tamed when he was level 7 or so, but I leveled him up to level 89 (I vividly remember) I painted him, made him his own house, he was my favorite Dino to use and have because I had him since I started the game. I had a deep connection with him. And then one day me and my friend went to the top of a mountain that sat _right_ next to our base, to get metal from it but there was a level 30 or something Giga that was totally guarding the metal. So we decided to try and kill it by trying to get it off the mountain and then we go up the mountain so it can’t get to us. So It took Barnes up the mountain when the Giga was gone and we started shooting the Giga He started flailing around the mountain so it was hard to shoot him. So we eventually ran out of bullets and arrows but the Giga was on the verge of death so I got on Barnes and went In for a couple hits to kill the thing, but I accidentally pressed the button to dismount the Argy when I was attacking. I fell off Barnes and me and my friend were both screaming as I fell, but Barnes kept going for the Giga. According to my friend who was watching it, Barnes and the Giga hit each other at the same time and both died at the same time. My poor Barnesy boy killed a Giga but got killed also. It was such a memorable death and maybe the best experience ever. Now me and my friend worship Barnes on all of our servers that we play on. GOD BLESS YOU BARNES
@@jasonxyz142 my partner actually just paid for a pc server a couple days ago. I don’t play ark that much anymore but since she and some of my other friends do I might do some Argy scoutin…
Me and all 7 of my friends were on a pvp server we owned a boat that we turned into a base. Two dudes with really good stuff attacked our boat and we managed to kill them.the leader of their clan threatened us to give them back their stuff or they would destroy our stuff so we hid in the deepest reaches of a swamp. Unfortunately our location was sold to the big clan by a bigger clan in exchange for metal tools. So the large clan used one of the strongest birds in the game to drop a guy on sabertooth tiger on our boat somehow we managed to defeat him but at that point they just got bored and shot our boat with a rocket launcher
You should it's great but what I didn't talk about was the 4 hours of grinding it took me to build practically a mobile fortress just for it to get insta rekt
XII haha I feel ya man, I went through same thing, pretty much pissed off the biggest clan on server, they came to our house so we threw everything on the floor so it would disappear and then we hid. They found us a few days later and put is in cages and kept force feeding us so we could never die...
What you are describing is an alpha tribe, what I'm speaking on are tribes who control multiple servers and, as one huge tribe, battle for control over other servers in the game. They are especially prevalent on xbox due to the fact that the only servers you can play on are official. Look up Drop Bears, Stray Cats, French Touch, etc. It means you have no easy mode to play on like pc with the private servers they offer. Also level 100 rexes are extremely low
I like playing on small servers with friends that makes it worth the while and reduces the grind involved with the game and I would suggest a server with offline raid protection on because otherwise big tribes wipe the server
island 28 has a dino farm babies about to be born there in the ice cave with tek gear barely anyone on base just like four and the rest are bobs waiting for a big tribe to crack it open
I totally understand where you are coming from but I truly love this game. One way that me and my friends solve some of the problems that you stated are through the settings. For example, we changed the taming speed to take away a little bit of the grind factor. Although the game is a little buggy, I feel like it is probably one of my favorite games.
I’m a Xbox player that has poured 2500+ hours into this game from online pve and pvp to singleplayer and in all the maps from the island to extinction It’s been my main game for over 3 years and with the announcement of valguero I’m more pumped than ever. I really doubt I’ll stop playing ark for a long while to come and i always look forward to meeting new players. I hope you join the community and have fun to anyone who buys this awesome game
I'm an ARK Veteran, I got the game as soon as it was introduced to the Steam Market Some of the progress it has made is great! New and exciting tames and bosses to shake things up a bit But one thing I could never do was understand why the game supports clans so much I understand it's a multiplayer game and it should focus on multiplayer activity but why is it that you have to have a clan to get half of the items? And Tek Tier? Tek Tier was basically their response to the amount of people in the modded community. But think about it, if the Rust devs made Rust like Terminus, it would be the same thing. Some people like the tech, but not Tek Tier, meaning they can't use Prim +, and seeing how Alpha clans work it's annoying when the alpha doesn't want to be kind. ARK is rewarding to those who have time and large groups, and can punish those who don't. Getting friends to get a game isn't easy, and making friends in game doesn't always happen. Back when I started ARK I had died 20+ times to Dodos (Anyone else remember that?). I respawn and escape them and I meet a guy with a spear. The guy attacks me and I'm saved by a dude on a raptor. He lets me take the dude's stuff and goes on his way, but before he does that another fresh spawn walks up. The fresh spawn and I tame a Parasaur and we go on to live our lives. The server got too laggy so I found another one. I walk up on a guy who's taming a low level Trike. He hands me some tools after we greet each other and asks if I could go get some materials. I do him the favor and we travel to the green obelisk. Once there we find a small tribe, the leader kindly makes him a Trike saddle and lets us build near by. Recently I redownloaded the game and hopped on an official server. I was running around for five seconds before a guy on a Giga kills me. I respawn somewhere else and I get killed by turrets. I meet someone my level and he kills me before I can say hello. I finally meet someone kind who gears me up, gives me a Ptera, and helps me build a base. He allies with me so I don't get killed going by his base. The next day I fly over and he's being raided by the Alpha because "he was getting too big" even though he was a solo player. Back when ARK first got started it was about helping others, about teaching them the ropes, about encouraging growing larger and letting everyone be. If you got an army of Rexs, good for you, you can go raid someone if they piss you off (not saying no one was rude or toxic, there will always be those people), just help your neighbors. Now it's about having a bigger penis and making sure no one can touch you by killing them all so no one gets a chance. I saw the ratio of tryhards and friendlys switch entirely. I can only play singleplayer or PvE, but PvE makes most of the game worthless. I don't want to play a game with PvP elements and have people breathing down my neck waiting for me to leave the server. Not to mention the toxicity allowed because a nieghborhood of tribes can't raid the bastard who's whining in chat that someone killed a dino he wanted to tame. Maybe I've just seen bad servers but, ARK was better before in my opinion, if you disagree that's okay but, I think the community makes the game just as much as the mechanics.
Psych0Pyr0 Gaming you have a good point but teams are supported as that’s how old belive ark should be played with more people because ark is fun to play with others that way not everything is so hard and it’s just fun to play with others but I hate the fact that I have to pay for ps4 plus to play with my friends but I find it fun to have a giant group so we help each other a lot and we have recently built a giant city and castle in scorched earth with 25 people in my tribe and I think that you should play with others it’s very fun
alex xumidiani his point- Ark was better back than because people were friendlier and tribes weren’t all about the stupid alpha this alpha that shit, now everyone in a tribe especially on official servers take the game too serious and have little server wars and that shit is just too cringy and pure annoying. You think a guy wants to freshly spawn into a server where some tribe has 50+ turrets armed camping and waiting for some poor soul to run by, that type of stuff discourages new players from playing. Now if you don’t have a tribe to carry you it’s hard to make it far in pvp. I get the leader of the tribe and this and that but alpha? Like cmon people take it that serious that they go by “alpha” on a virtual game how low life and scummy do u have to be to act like an asshole to a random person whom I suppose some of young and call yourself the tribe alpha and go around killing new spawns and griefing the shit out of people, this guy said it himself the guy he met that helped him got everything stripped away hours taken away by some nerdy ass person because the “alpha tribe” saw and told him he was getting too big. Like umm excuse me do u own the fucking server lol? Don’t get me wrong I like ark a lot but I only play pve or single player and rarely pvp because of stupid alpha tribe bs.
As a person who has put more then1400 hours into the game, dont play official servers. They are full of toxic people and grindy rates. Find a dedicated server that has uped the rates of gathering and taming. This game is amazing once some rates are tweeked. And i dont know about console but only one out of the four currently available maps are paid for so I have no idea what he is talking about when he said 50% of the official servers are behind a paywall
"Find a dedicated server" may not be a better solution. I played on 2 officials, but the rates were horrible. I decided to go on an unofficial server, but after 4-5 months it has been shut down. I switched onto the next unofficial - went down after 1 month. After this a friend rent a server, didn't enjoy it anymore after 2 months and I took it over. Now I'm playing for 15 months on my own server. But at least I play with the 3 guys who started with me on the very first unofficial... :-D
I've played on ps4 since day 1. I have seen the progression over time of the servers getting better and can say it was well worth it. There is a grinding element to this game but if you are a casual player I think it's enough to chew on. There is no requirement to go for higher level Dinos early on, and if grinding isn't your thing, it's avoidable by boosting stats on single player worlds or player educated servers. This game is not for everyone, but like jake said, there is a strong feeling of accomplishment and joy from taming your first Dino or bird. I like the game a lot, but if it's worth $60 is up to you. Max
Been playing ark on the ps4 for about a year now, and I think it's one of the best survival games on the console. Also if u are new to the game I recommend u play single player and change some of the harvesting multipliers and the taming speed, some tames can last days. ( not in-game days either). :/
If you're gonna play official, better be prepared to nothing else but that. That is of course if you wanna build up even a little bit. Play on boosted pc hosted servers, so much more fun!
im in a massive mega tribe on ark and its not fun at all. when i played with friends in a small tribe the game was amazing but if you arent in the big tribes then you'll just get wiped off offical.
Cody it's all about the right server, some alpha tribes wipe people, some help them build up. If you're in a mega tribe, be that person who makes smaller tribes want to keep playing
My love for dinosaurs took me into ark, and that love for dinosaurs is what makes me love it. Wildcard has comitted some mistakes in the recent times but as you (Jake) said, most of it can be fixable
@@mrdodorex897 omg im so sorry that happend!:cccc But dont worry Ark mobile is fun too tho ! The same thing happend to me but with ark mobile. . :c I had to reset my phone so i lost all the progress i made.. :c But when i reseted my phone, i installed it again, i was playing for 1 week or more and now im lvl 62! Its pretty easy to lvl :3
I've had the game for a long time now. It's really fun if you play with friends but alone it's kinda shit. Don't know if it's worth 60 bucks tho(bought it for 20 or something myself). If it's on sale and your friends have it, go for it it's great.
Emil Ekroth I also got this game awhile back the real fun does cone with friends I tried playing by myself but it's seems like too much work especially for just one person to handle but if you have a big enough tribe the game can be absolutely amazing.
I got it a while ago and just found some people to play with on an insanely boosted server and it was extremely fun. I just put most of my points into movement speed and I could outrun most dinos, it was hilarious. But without people, it's shit
I watched this video a few years back, when ARK with all the DLC was on sale in PS Store. I was sceptical… but now I’ve played hundreds and hundreds of hours, I love the game! I love that you can play it however you want. All the beautiful worlds are your own playground especially when playing local/unofficial server. For me the game is more about exploration, base building and the dinos above all else. While this wasn’t one of your favourite games, you played a part in Ark becoming one of mine. Thank you for that :)
I noticed you point out some servers are walled off behind paywalls. The cool thing about Ark is this is only one of the maps, being the desert map, which is up to you whether it's worth the money, but I'd say fighting deathworms there without some super Rex or wyverns is an amazing feeling. There are two maps that are completely free to play, and both are better than the island in my opinion, only losing to it in lacking the story element, instead opting for fighting two bosses from other maps at once. Still, Scorche Earth being walled off might turn some people away, but hat map is a great deal more difficult than the regular maps anyways and might turn away a new player even faster.
Ball it is worth it I really liked all the new dynamics like being hot instead of cold and having to have lots of water and sandstorms. It was fucking amazing when I first survived for 10 minutes at a time with an adobe house
Yea I loled too.. competitive survival games NEVER have particularly good communities. At least some of Ark's unofficial servers don't have completely toxic communities though..
Ive been playing this game ever since early access release and im glad to say that this game is my number one most favorite open world survival game. I love how in depth you can go with the setting in your survers or solo game and also the fact that you can build almost anything and build anywhere i highly recommend getting this game and getting to kno how it works. P.s great vid ☺
The grind wouldn't be so bad if you didn't just get wiped every time you get something done. I still love the game and playing it with friends has been so much fun getting wyverns on official servers may take long but are so cool because you know who hard they are to have
you can install a mod called 'gravestone' that if you put the gravestone next to a bed spawn or anywhere you can recover your items by opening it an ark youtuber callled 'nakedzombo' has it installed on his abberation server
I mostly play single player, because of a bad online experience, and my best experience was the first time I tamed a Quetzal. I got a lvl 178 quetzal and was sooo happy! Love the game so much. It is worth the grind
My favourite part of ark is breeding animals and getting triplets its so satisfacting when you see a tiny little baby rex and 2 other siblings next to it. Having a house full of mutated rexs is awesome. Also painting dicks on the side of my tribe mates dinos is funny
I like ARK. I don't play it though, I play for a few hours, until I get bored, and I never end up returning. It just doesn't appeal to me like other games do, but I do think it's a good game, like you, I'm not the biggest fan. I do understand why the people who really enjoy this game do, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had discovered it back in the days when I played minecraft, when I lived for that feeling of finding a nice community, making friends and just playing for hours on end with them, going on trips to mine that felt like life threatening excursions to find the diamonds required to craft an enchantment table and destroy your enemies. The feeling of slowly progressing with your knowledge of the game and feeling like you are genuinely good at the game. Then stumbling across someone even better, and striving to reach the level they are at. I completely understand why this game has the exact same feel as minecraft did for me, but like I said, I've moved on from that, to preferring the feeling of having three to six close friends, and fighting endless waves of enemies, overcoming the challenges that come with the raid we've gone on, and the feeling of stealthily outsmarting my opponent, and catching them when the least expect it, winning, and basking in the glory, before being thrust back into a battle with an even stronger enemy, and failing terribly, only to work my way up, and prepare for the fight soon to come. It makes sense why people would enjoy a game like this, it just all falls down to personal taste, and what each person prefers. That's my opinion anyway. (I'm not talking about a specific game in the third paragraph, that's just a feeling I've gotten a few times playing games like Destiny, Diablo III, Hype Light Drifter, and other random games.)
In ARK I always enjoyed being a low level hermit, I always got beat down by high level players so I learned to be defensive of my little raft house. Lots of memories of sitting round the fire with some random people I found in the sea
I was like you, getting bullied always! So i had enough! I created a new survivor and did all melee damage, now im lvl 74 and no one would bother fighting me! and im solo btw
I always play with my boyfriend, and for a more casual experience for newer players or people who want to relax you can always change up the settings to suit your skill level and playing style. The game is long enough to keep you entertained and you won’t run out of things to do lol
I got 600 hours on pc ARK. and most my friends have 6,000+. Games really fun when you have a good server, good players on the server, good and fair rules that are reinforced on the server, and friends that will be as cooperative as you will. Lots of aspects of ARK are really unique and arent really experienced in other games, such as raiding a massive metal base with hundreds of auto turrets with 5 of your friends with your insanely tanky Brontos. While saying this, it is indeed very buggy and probably always will be, but at one stage it was worse. Oh and theres a space DLC for it releasing in October 2017 with like alien monster things, gonna be crazy.
I've been playing ARK for 2 years and put over 470 hours into it. I think it's a great game but it does take a lot to run it. It can be grindy but I don't mind that to much.
After about 2,5 years I now have 900+ hours in the game and still haven't gotten through all the content because I only play PVP. But that's exactly what makes it so damn fun. Finally reaching Tek tier the game goes from being one of those survival games to a full on tactical fps game (only on PVP of course) There are millions of ways to defend, attack and build your base and it's always changing. Even though the game has a ton of problems and glitches I still think this is one of the best games around.
I really love ark and the reason is that you never feel like your out of things to do. everyday update's,new dinosaurs and weapons and buildings and decoration's. And its not even just dino's there are so many animal's in the game like wolf's.there is a lot of exploration in the game like the snow biome or swamp that I really love and resource management is pretty good and honestly I don't give a shit about bugs and glitches. who cares about that when you ride a flying dinosaur? these are the reasons I love this game. Its just my opinion and my experience in the game.
Ediz Benam people who payed 60 dollars a for buggy mess that already had a dlc before release and another is releasing next dlc next month care about the bugs
Kristian Andrews that dlc was released because the developers got in a lawsuit and lost more then half of the funds for ark and needed money back so they could work further on the game if they didn't do this ark would be pulled of steam
Kristian Andrews How is this not an excuse the game was literally going to pulled off steam if they wouldn't have done the wich means u couldn't play it anymore also if you didn't know it costs money to put a game on steam
This game is amazing and very rewarding. One time me and my mates were in a little wooden base with not much things. Then a guy on a massive t-Rex gave us awesome tools and equipment which just felt amazing and now I’ve got nearly every Dino in the game and a massive metal base. It’s just so fun and I’ve nearly played a month of it
i dont get really nerdy when it comes to computer stats and that but my computer costed like 1,000 for gaming and its been added with some graphic cards and optimization (plus it can play a lot of games like farcry and witcher 3 on extreme graphics so my computer is not bad). the max graphics i can get on singleplayer is medium with ground clutter off and the ping on servers for multiplayer are horrible even the best ping related servers i have to have everything on low.
ARK is such a fun game. I have it on Xbox and me and my friends are obsessed with it. I will say, it is a bit hard when starting off, but when you get the hang of things it becomes so much easier.
Best Ark experience? Have to say when i played Scorched Earth for the first time. I had made a HUGE effort to avoid UA-cam videos on it. I had NO idea on what was friendly, what to avoid, where the best water locations were, how to tame some dinos, what their actual uses were, exetra. That or killing a Dodo for the first time. XD
Corey Dunn my best experience was when ark first came out for Xbox. I tried avoiding UA-cam videos on it too. Learning how stuff works on your own is always so fun and satisfying.
hobojoe357 exactly why I quit this game even after having about 1,600 hours of playtime. Some servers are impossible to build up on and once my tribe was very successful then got wiped by a mega tribe.
I know I’m 3 years late to this video but I love Ark. I’ve been playing it for 2 years and the best experience I’ve ever had in there was when I made a giant pirate ship on a PVE server and got like 10 random bobs in on it and made them run around like crew mates. It was crazy fun. I’m thinking about doing it again. : )
Ark is an interesting game for me. I've always been one that likes challenging progression with some grinding elements. You know, where I can choose whether to just relax farming something or where I can stress my own skills and ideas in order to progress and ARK really hit the sweet spot for me. I've had days where I farmed metal for just 4 hours straight, so I could surprise my friends with something. Some of the best feels were when I first knocked out a quetz, Giga or the spino. Or when I first tamed a dino, which was a Carbonemys! (Absolutely tiresome for a first tame and not really worth it in the beginning tbh, you should rather get 3 dilos or something) - I had massive sittings where I played for about 18 hours straight and I just enjoyed myself with the game. And I never got mad at someone destroying my tribe and everything we built, because I always used that to take a few weeks or months off, in order to focus on school / uni. It had so much more great moments beside the ones listed above... first time diving, getting my first ascendant weapon blueprint (was a wooden club, lol), riding a giga into a battle, joining a tribe of people I didn't know and hopping on their teamspeak, hosting my own server through which I got to know friends which I hold dear to this very day, although we don't play together anymore and the list goes on. This game is not for everyone, but for me it's bloody brilliant. (currently 1.3k hours put into it :) )
My opinion: ark is a great survival game, if you cqn play on high quality it is truely amazing. The only thing is the bugs, yeah there are some bugs who defenitly need to be fixed but ark is such a huge game. Its hard to fix them al in a quick period of time. If you want to play with your friends, thats eazy. Just ask eachother what kinda server you want, you can play low rates all×1 or go for a bit easier and all×10/20 on this point its just how you like to play. The hard way or easier way. But the choise is all yours. So i dont think ark is q bad game becus all is qbout your own choises: if you eant friends just play with them, high rates? Just look for them/ put them on.
"there are some bugs who defenitly need to be fixed but ark is such a huge game. Its hard to fix them al in a quick period of time" - They've been in early access for ages, many of these bugs have always been there... They just haven't bothered fixing them.
Dan Maginnis They needed to add all their content before bug fixes. Otherwise new bugs would just pop up everywhere every five minutes. This way they can deal with them in several bug fix updates.
Dan Maginnis True, like meganuras and just creatures not spawning in caves. Or when you leave the game before resources respawn and u have to do something to fix it. I love the game but it would be better if they gave us a page for bugs etc and actually listened to us
You completely forgot to mention the major problem with hackers as well as the dominant clans in some servers, that will simply destroy you the moment you start really evolving in the game. Add that to a game with a HUD design that still seems early access and many unpatched bugs you got yourself a game that was made to profit of the early access feature and is not worth $60.
Mike Nie Agree with the 2nd half of your statement but why are you blaming the game for having hackere and alphas that's the PEOPLE in ark not the game itself big difference.
It might be the people but it does show they're being lazy with their anti-hacker stuff. These hackers should be banned and Steam VAC put on so they can not continue.
No one understands this game... You have to build up on a pvp server and try to survive agianst the other players to be having fun... I have almost 5k hours played now lol.... It's the greatest and most garbage game of all time.
We're fixing all the bugs for release and that's part of why it's going to be $60 they said, still just as buggy as it was on day 1 and unoptimized as hell, you need a high end computer to get 40 fps if you're lucky
You need a minimum of a 1080ti, i5 and 16gb ram to get 60fps at 1080p ultra, still unoptimized, my 1070, i7 7700k and 16gb ram PC has no issues running most games but people say my PC is broken, well funny how the games that run poorly are Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, Wildlands, ARK, ARMA 3, Battlegrounds... Yeah, those games are apparently optimized according to some people, but they are far from optimized
Nicholas Del Rossi if you just started, how would you know the difference? I have 200+ hours and I can say: "fck the flyers nerf". You remind me of those kids from high school that would agree with you on everything.
Nicholas Del Rossi What was the flyers nerf? It seems like my Quetz is slower and I can't increase it's movement speed but idk if that's what it is lol
Barry Allen I can understand maybe 500 hours, but 6,000 is a bit excessive. Imagine what you could’ve accomplished within 250 days instead of playing a stupid video game.
If you bought the game before it was fully out when it was about $20 instead of $60 do you still have the full game? or do you have to pay for it again?
Kalen Grinnell I don't even understand what could lead you to think that the developers could take your right on a game because it's released and costs more...
Kalen Grinnell The developers pull a Dj (I say my name in all my songs "Khalid") and say "You're smart, You're loyal, I appreciate that" and let you keep the game at the 20 dollar price.
This is my favorite game, I’ve had it since it was released as a beta on PC and I spent almost of my time on my camp. Me and my friends have done tons of massive exploring and that’s where I find most of the appeal. Bc you see what’s going on and get to theorize on your own
After thousands of hours grinding and getting fob wiped we became alpha on 3 occasions and kept on getting wiped but now were stronger than ever more turrets and strong dinos we also allied with the big ww and met more and more amazing people! This is my favorite moment in ark when hard work pays off (until it comes tumbling down but still fun while ot lasted)
Man your lucky dude, I'm stuck with my friend that barely gets on and helps and if I leave the tribe I'm gonna loose all my hard earned dinos and stuff :(
This game has to be one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. It does not hold peoples hand and I like that a lot. My favorite moment was I had a pack of dilophosaurs's. Then a t-rex came threw now I'm back to the beginning
Not the biggest fan, but I can understand why some people will really enjoy it.

gameranx hi plz reply
gameranx yea, I played it for a little bit on ps4, but kinda got bored, just not my type, it is a bit like Minecraft tho, not the graphic wise, kinda-sorta gameplay wise, and i liked Minecraft, but I guess ark just isn't my type of game, also you would need to invest a lot of time to get to higher levels and stuff like that. But i can also understand why there's a fanbase.
Kinda funny how even a GTX 1080 Ti struggles with this game at 1080p ultra settings lol

Thank you!

Juhis01 50 hour week numbers try 6 months just to get wiped by meshers
Exactly why I play singleplayer... And the fact that I play on switch.
Just join a tribe
Just dont play pvp
Why would you grind for that long? Did you forget it was a pvp server? Just get raiding gear and go out raiding bases that's how pvp is meant to be played
I'm a bit of a new player to the game, i haven't really seen any tutorials of how to play. But i think one of the funniest experiences I had with this game was when i was looking for my friend in a server we just joined. He said he was up on a hill so i began making the trek up, and the bush growth became quite dense. After a minute or two of climbing, i was passing through the next bit of bush growth, only to find a T-Rex head inches from my face.
All my friend hears from my mic is: *gasp* OHJEEZWHATTHEHELLRIUHFAIUEFHISUHGSDIUKGXHSIUDKZHJYNGISH
and other gibberish along those lines...it shocked me so much especially since i was NOT expecting it, and it was my first encounter with a T-Rex up close.

My favorite thing from ark is trying to take down a quetzal or trying to kill that giga i love grinding too

I woke up to this:
My pteranodon was killed by a level 184 T-Rex, and I was killed by a man who was in that tribe.
To be honest: Your comments are making me happy guys : )
I am so tired reading about all the people moaning about ARK and forgetting about the great stuff you can experience. Of course there is some time-consuming and cruel things going on without a tribe and as a new player. But there are this other _kind_ people you meet and those unique ark-moments you have that makes the game so great
Baneofthetaken ok.
actually really suggest newbie go unofficial server if just fresh started playing this game and train some skill for survive from internet A**HOLE which exist in official server.... because official is tired due to its harvest rate taming rate and for the newbie which got no kibble for each dino and needed to spending 10 more hours beside a t-rex just to waiting its eating food and tame it..... newbie will easily feel tired to game if the realise the dino which spend them whole day to tame and once they wake up it had being murded by others ppl, they usually will feel sad and rage quit the game... at least some of my fren did that. so what i suggest is go play at unofficial server. due its not only can getting more knowledge on farming and taming or even pvp in short time due to the high harvest rate in unofficial... u might also able to having the skill which official server need and u will be able to join the alpha tribe in official server so u will have another kind of feeling which unofficial cannot give u which is the stress when ur tribe decide to invade others server or defence the invade from others server..... that farming stress srsly no kidding.....
an advise from official server player haha
Baneofthetaken were you playing on pc? if so pls tell me did it have a name I want to join that server

XII haha I feel ya man, I went through same thing, pretty much pissed off the biggest clan on server, they came to our house so we threw everything on the floor so it would disappear and then we hid. That tribe sounds like a bunch of dumbasses
You forgot to mention the underworld of mega tribes who basically run the game LOL
Freezetyle unworld of mega trades controlling the game? Pls explain
Those people dedicate their lived to this game
Freezetyle yeeeh
Lol that’s power rangers and KC for ps4
I like playing on small servers with friends that makes it worth the while and reduces the grind involved with the game and I would suggest a server with offline raid protection on because otherwise big tribes wipe the server

I'm an ARK Veteran, I got the game as soon as it was introduced to the Steam Market
Some of the progress it has made is great! New and exciting tames and bosses to shake things up a bit
But one thing I could never do was understand why the game supports clans so much
I understand it's a multiplayer game and it should focus on multiplayer activity but why is it that you have to have a clan to get half of the items?
Maybe I've just seen bad servers but, ARK was better before in my opinion, if you disagree that's okay but, I think the community makes the game just as much as the mechanics.
ye the good old days. i miss being raided by frogs with c4 and now it's 30+ giggas etc

Domi Darko That sounds like quite a nice story tbh :P

I've played on ps4 since day 1. I have seen the progression over time of the servers getting better and can say it was well worth it. There is a grinding element to this game but if you are a casual player I think it's enough to chew on. There is no requirement to go for higher level Dinos early on, and if grinding isn't your thing, it's avoidable by boosting stats on single player worlds or player educated servers. This game is not for everyone, but like jake said, there is a strong feeling of accomplishment and joy from taming your first Dino or bird. I like the game a lot, but if it's worth $60 is up to you.

Been playing ark on the ps4 for about a year now, and I think it's one of the best survival games on the console. Also if u are new to the game I recommend u play single player and change some of the harvesting multipliers and the taming speed, some tames can last days. ( not in-game days either). :/
It hasn't even been out a whole year on ps4 it came out last December

Jordan Sorrell why?
Why???
Jordan Sorrell I play official and it’s fun
If you're gonna play official, better be prepared to nothing else but that. That is of course if you wanna build up even a little bit. Play on boosted pc hosted servers, so much more fun!

im in a massive mega tribe on ark and its not fun at all. when i played with friends in a small tribe the game was amazing but if you arent in the big tribes then you'll just get wiped off offical.
Cody thank god, my go to official server's alpha tribe are very helpful and kind
Extr3meDude919 and what server is that I could use less ark related cancer

Move to an unofficial server.
Cody it's all about the right server, some alpha tribes wipe people, some help them build up. If you're in a mega tribe, be that person who makes smaller tribes want to keep playing

I've had the game for a long time now. It's really fun if you play with friends but alone it's kinda shit. Don't know if it's worth 60 bucks tho(bought it for 20 or something myself). If it's on sale and your friends have it, go for it it's great.
Personally I recommend a buffed server, taming is way to time-consuming otherwise.
Emil Ekroth I also got this game awhile back the real fun does cone with friends I tried playing by myself but it's seems like too much work especially for just one person to handle but if you have a big enough tribe the game can be absolutely amazing.
Emil Ekroth that's what my friend and I did if people mess with the settings the game is a lot better
I got it a while ago and just found some people to play with on an insanely boosted server and it was extremely fun. I just put most of my points into movement speed and I could outrun most dinos, it was hilarious. But without people, it's shit
It's not just a dinosaur survival game it's a dinosaur survival game with jet packs and lots of lag
ExpWars u should buh it on xbox less lag
ThatPikaGamez! Yea if you play unofficial pic servers on console it's less lag

"Where ARK really thrives is the community"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yea I loled too.. competitive survival games NEVER have particularly good communities. At least some of Ark's unofficial servers don't have completely toxic communities though..
Aaron J same though
Ark community is cancer. Especially between language barriers
It's toxic, this guy has clearly never had to deal with egotistical children that make up "alpha" tribes
RP community's are awesome though. But yeah...I avoid the Official server communities like the plague
Ive been playing this game ever since early access release and im glad to say that this game is my number one most favorite open world survival game.

Jo Chi those moments are great, me and my irl friends have some great online friends that we still play and talk to after 3+ years
When i find new players near my base i give them a tame like a parasaur or phiomia and some tools
Nah get outside instead
Who's watching this after seeing it's free on steam?
LE ME!
Oh and theres a space DLC for it releasing in October 2017 with like alien monster things, gonna be crazy.
theres no space dlc lol are you on crack?
Sooooooo i meet you again "bar code" ....... dude .... 2words .... google it..... Ark Abberation (will be the new dlc)

You have four options for calm gameplay: pve, soloplayer, a calm pvp server where you simply don't annoy anyone or good base defenses.
Summarizes ARK perfectly .. Humans are the most disgusting Animals to ever walk on this planet
The new dlc had been worked on multiple months so you can expect it to be better
Kristian Andrews that dlc was released because the developers got in a lawsuit and lost more then half of the funds for ark and needed money back so they could work further on the game if they didn't do this ark would be pulled of steam
Stapyman Games that isnt an excuse to drop a paid dlc before the game is even finished

Blazed Gaming just put everything on medium or low in the settings and turn down ground clotter and sky quality

PS if your new avoid pvp servers and spawn in the south region, its easier

Pvp servers aren't bad honestly, they make you better faster anyways, just join servers with orp and you'll be fine
XD

The game is just grinding for hours until the one giant tribe comes and destroys you and you start completely over.
hobojoe357 exactly why I quit this game even after having about 1,600 hours of playtime. Some servers are impossible to build up on and once my tribe was very successful then got wiped by a mega tribe.
Play PVE or solo
Adam Kretzmann exactly I play pve and I got my own pve server
Have you heard of PvE?
Or u become that tribe? play on a Unoffical x2-10 lel i alpha tribe on almost all the servers i join and im solo! 8000+hrs on the game
(currently 1.3k hours put into it :) )
Cydraech it has discount now on ps4
Its only for 8$ should i buy it?
Walid Kab yes
My first tame was a sarco
Just look for them/ put them on.
this game sucks balls
Mugiwara no Link then why the hell are you taking the time to comment xD
"there are some bugs who defenitly need to be fixed but ark is such a huge game. Its hard to fix them al in a quick period of time" - They've been in early access for ages, many of these bugs have always been there... They just haven't bothered fixing them.
Dan Maginnis
They needed to add all their content before bug fixes.
Ik its addicting asf tho especially when u get built up enough to wipe the server and other servers
I love the end of this comment so much.

I cannot agree more lmao
Best unoptimized game of the year
minijolo Must be client side because my game runs fine.
Wait. THIS GAME'S UNOPTIMIZED? is that why i have ABSOLUTELY no lag xD?!?
I only played 7 hours just today and I love it but fuck the flyers nerf.
Edit: there's only one add-on
Nicholas Del Rossi a new one is coming out in October
If you just started why would you care about the nerf
Nicholas Del Rossi if you just started, how would you know the difference? I have 200+ hours and I can say: "fck the flyers nerf". You remind me of those kids from high school that would agree with you on everything.
Nicholas Del Rossi What was the flyers nerf? It seems like my Quetz is slower and I can't increase it's movement speed but idk if that's what it is lol
JotheGr3at a true noob...no offense but yea...u used to be able to increase the speed of flyers
‘Laughs in 6k hours played’
Fozzy Prozzy I have something like 300 hours in
Fozzy Prozzy you spent 250 days playing a video game and you want respect? Grow up man
Cripple kid 090 you used a calculator to see how many days he’s played to insult someone for doing what they enjoy? Grow up man
Barry Allen I can understand maybe 500 hours, but 6,000 is a bit excessive. Imagine what you could’ve accomplished within 250 days instead of playing a stupid video game.
Cripple kid 090 well it’s stupid to you lmao not him
The only thing that sucks about this game is not being able to experience it for the first time again.
If you bought the game before it was fully out when it was about $20 instead of $60 do you still have the full game? or do you have to pay for it again?
You keep it.
Kalen Grinnell I don't even understand what could lead you to think that the developers could take your right on a game because it's released and costs more...
NormiesEverywhere 😂😂😂 Nah fam they dont do that
Full still
Kalen Grinnell The developers pull a Dj (I say my name in all my songs "Khalid") and say "You're smart, You're loyal, I appreciate that" and let you keep the game at the 20 dollar price.
Man your lucky dude, I'm stuck with my friend that barely gets on and helps and if I leave the tribe I'm gonna loose all my hard earned dinos and stuff :(
Lol I’ve been solo since legacy
This game has to be one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. It does not hold peoples hand and I like that a lot. My favorite moment was I had a pack of dilophosaurs's. Then a t-rex came threw now I'm back to the beginning
