The amount of freedom and happiness I feel when I play them is indescribable. And I’m so happy to be able to revisit the first game with refined graphics, motion capture and frame rate!❤️❤️
Part of the reason why they did this is because it was relatively easy compared to other older games. And yeah, the original facial animations were really hard to ignore if you played HFW first. Some new QoL settings and features are nice too.

I like Ashley a lot, but I hate her performance as Aloy. Her voice just isn't fitting for the character. It sounds far too "modern" and clean for an outcast wilderness woman who's had to tough it out on the fringes of society. I wish they would've gone with another VA.
@@oystersoup3434 You should hear her in Lego Horizon. She sounds like a different character. Like almost spastic and dorky 😂 I think it's perfect for a game aimed at kids, she sounds like she's having a blast. It's just wild work knowing the story is about murderbots that run off "biofuel" 😂

I like Forbidden West way more because of how we find out more of the world is out there with their own customs, politics, and weapon options. I don't think Zero Dawn needed a remaster but for 10 bucks I'll get it. Thanks Jake 😎
Ive started both games and still haven't beat either one yet. I always pick up months or a year later and attempt to load a save then I don't know wtf is going on or the mechanics so I start over. Then that cycle continues over and over
Same here. Bought both games. Played for about 4-5 hours, and then they lose me. Pick them up again months later, and have forgotten all about story and mechanics. Aloy and the characters in this world just don't do anything for me. Gameplay is ok though.
I did too. When I FINALLY got into it tho worth it. Recommended: DONT restart, go from where u are and figure it out along the way. The game gets better as u go, which is a good thing to be able to say about a good game.
Oh man I couldn't feel more different on this. Horizon forbidden West is probably my number one all-time best game I've played. No other game besides maybe GTA V have I ever gone back to make sure I completed every side quest, revealed every save point on the map and completed pretty much everything the game has to offer... Well maybe Harry Potter but that game still isn't as good as these installments. Not only is the gameplay and the combat unbelievably good but the amount of options you get and ways that you can approach combat make it just a blast every time. The side stories being actually woven together and having NPCs know about other side quests you've already completed and changing the dialogue based on that... Chef's kiss. Not only that but an original sci-fi story that is almost believable. This game is incredible. So much so that even though I played through forbidden West and watch a playthrough of the first one, I went back and purchased this remastered one just so that I could play through it myself.
@Phoenix11720 that was a great name too It's a shame they've started this thing with trying to enforce the PlayStation Network. That's causing me to not purchase all of those games.
We have problems with cars lasting ten years and on here it's been a thousand years🙃. My biggest pet peeve about Forbidden West is the sounds are inconsistent. The Tenakth Reaver should be the quietest and they have The Quen Commander as the quietest. This is backwards and when running through the base the Tenakth sometimes sounds like a Clydesdale🙄. Well that and they should have the save for the base inside where she can go to sleep😒.
3:40 yes they were Jake, yes they were, I got so immersive with the open world and story cutscenes, and when I approached an NPC that immersion was gone, this is the reason the paid the 10€ difference, finally will enjoy to understand more about HZD, as I did with HFW
Having only played Forbidden West, I’m excited to play this one and experience Aloy’s origin the best way possible. It’s $10 people. A Big Mac costs more in today’s world. Buy it if you’re a fan, move along if you’re not.

HZD is my favorite Sci-Fi story and the actual gameplay is definitely in my top 5. For a new IP upon release it was a solid near perfect game in my opinion. My only gripe was the character models in game when interacting and the lack of side quests. I have beaten HZD at least a half dozen times on PS4 but i have it on PC and just started a new game. Time to go achievement hunting again.
When I heard they were Remastering this game, I was happy and excited. I probably was one of the few. Saw it in the store yesterday and didn’t hesitate for that $10 upgrade. I ported over my PS4 save data but I restarted the game too from scratch. I love Horizon and its sequel and I think the remaster is pretty good so far (aside from Rost’s bow)
I have always loved the brutality when Ally takes down humans, spear or arrows… That juicy THWACK as you get a head shot… awesome! 10 bucks for a gorgeous fun violent game? Yes please!
I've gotten as high as 3,678 for a headshot on FW😅. Most of my human kills are long range😁. I think my ghost level is 108. Second time though because I still haven't located all the scannables😒.
I really enjoyed the original. Completed it 100%, in fact. So a $10 entry fee to experience this game with upgraded visuals and optimization is a no-brainer. Commentary surrounding Sony and their remasters often center around them as being "unnecessary" or "not something I want." It's certainly warranted if one feels that way having played the original versions of these games. However, it's important to remember that such individuals aren't the target audiences for these remasters. This is something that is often overlooked whenever this is discussed. Reportedly, 30% of the PS5 user base (20 million) are those who DIDN'T own a PS4. Thus, it makes perfect business sense for Sony to upgrade their library of their most successful IP, especially considering these remasters do sell well.
@@DanteMasaru Do they? Based on what evidence? And no Playstation commiting to a dozen of them isn't evidence they work. They commited to 10 live service games and we all know how that's going....
I've owned all editions of the original game and played it a year ago for the 3rd time, and I have to tell you, this remastered edition is incredible and the graphics are beautiful. This is a huge remastered edition upgrade. It was worth the $10 and I purchased it on PS5💯
this game is a masterpiece. can’t wait to hop back into this world. so tired of seeing bethesda and souls titles being talked about. hope this gets more people on this franchise
Maybe it wasn't necessary, but it's definitely the best remaster in recent years. Graphically it's an incredible improvement, to the point of looking more like a remake. Great job.
The best remaster was NieR replicant in 2021. They upgraded the graphics, they upgraded the combat to be more like it's sequel NieR:Automata, they redid the music (some songs were improved, others worsened), they redid the voice acting using all of the original voice actors, they added voice acting to all character dialog in the game (like for NPCS speaking) They added the cut content the original release in 2010 never got (new side story, and more importantly the true Canon ending of the game). They added a couple new songs too. They also added a DLC that let players dress the characters in NieR:Automata characters outfits, and they also allowed the player to use NieR:Automatas music instead of replicants if they wanted to. It's more than a remaster, less than a full remake. They just called it an upgrade, or "NieR Replicant ver 1.22" That is the gold standard for remastering a game. Another good (but not quite as good) remaster is the destroy all humans 1 and 2 remasters.
@stormbreaker7373 i don't care if nobody cares. Just here to share my recommendations to people. Now get lost if you have nothing thoughtful to contribute to the conversation 😁
@moister3727 yeah it's basically the gold standard of what remasters ought to be. Something like demon souls is nice too, but they really should've added the cut content of the original and improved the AI of some bosses. Replicant ver 1.22 did everything it could to be as faithful as possible to the original while improving as much as possible.
"I played Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4 a year ago and absolutely loved it. After upgrading to a PS5 recently, the first game I bought was Forbidden West. Now that I've finished it, I'm looking forward to replaying Zero Dawn-especially since it's only €10 now. It's an easy choice, one of the best games ever!"
That’s why this complaining is pointless. The game has been out for almost 8 years, so the people who never got the game most likely are never going to get it anyways, whatever version of the game exists. What’s the point of them complaining? Most people who like/love ZD are going to get this, let’s not act like $10 is a lot for a game. Especially one that has about 30-40 hours of content.
@@DaneWinter1213 Bought it on Epic Store, I CANNOT play it unless I upgrade (at least for now) so, paying $10 to be able to play a game I bought years ago? Yeah, I'm gonna complain.
As someone who couldn't afford PS3 or any consoles years ago & watching & falling in love with Infamous franchise I really wish they remake & bring it onto PC & current gen console. I wanna see damn good visuals with gameplay.
Love this series. Can't wait for part 3. Played Zero Dawn 3 times already, looks like I'm going in for a 4th with this upgrade. Highly, highly recommend both games.
Before Burning Shore came out, I replayed through both games in order. While HZD ages well enough, hopping from HZD to HFW showed some minor problems. Have QoL changed to HZD is something I'll gladly accept.
The worst part about this awesome remaster is the fact that I can't buy the remaster of the game I OWN because the REMASTER requires PSN. Like, what the hell...
People getting mad for the weirdest shit. It didn't need a remaster. But did Sony want to pay a studio to remaster it? Yes. They are only charging $10 for an upgrade and $50 retail. If you are playing on Playstation you didn't have the option to play Zero Dawn at 60 fps. Now you do. Remastering a game like this is going to be a lot easier for a studio to do than remastering a PS2 or PS3 game.
Because they hate money, apparently. Ignore the Bloodborne fans for over 5 years; try to shove Concord down our throats; remaster ZD when absolutely NO ONE was asking for it… What other conclusion could one come to? 🤷♀️
I did not expect this upgrade to do much but wow the faces. They weren't bad in the original but they were a weak point and now they're good. The rest of the game always looked great but I'd not regret climbing a tallneck and seeing the view in the updated version if I had a better screen. 100% recommendation for everyone who did not play it or did not play the expansion, it's a fantastic game and the lore is as great as the world is beautiful. They really created a very interesting world with good stories and great characters and quite a few good emotional moments, too.
I didn’t finish it originally. I just couldn’t get into it - there was just something I couldn’t put my finger on that put me off. Maybe it was the bad facial animations or the lack of gyro aiming for the bow. Maybe it was my old tv…. But HFW was soooo much better for me. I played it straight through. The remaster of HZD, however has changed everything for me. I truly like playing it now - I get the same feeling as when playing HFW. Best $10 I’ve spent in a while. I am now enjoying it so much, and can’t wait to finish it.
I’m a big fan of the Horizon series(yes we exist), and remember my experience with HZD on PC as: I got it around the time it launched in 2020, saw it was a buggy mess that got slowly patched back up over a few months, and instead finished my half complete PS4 save. Then Forbidden West came out(still haven’t played Elden Ring lol), I dumped 200 hours into it, and have been kinda burned out since(at least until the 3rd game). Burning Shores was good but felt like a bottle episode story-wise, which it was, same with the Call of the Mountain. I agree with the other comments that this remaster shouldn’t have been nearly as high on Sony’s priority list, if at all. I’d only pick it up because it’s $10 and only if I actually felt like replaying a game I already 100%, not likely any time soon.
For new players to experience when they play LEGO: Horizon Adventures on the Switch. Sony wants to get some of that sweet Nintendo cash from their gamers in hopes they’ll get turned on to Horizon. Also at some point it’s getting a show on Netflix. That’s why.
I guess we need a third category for this type of work. "Refresh" maybe. So Remake for totally new version, Remaster for visual overhaul of the older titles and Refresh for keeping relatively new game up to latest standards. I do believe it makes sense. You release the game and keep it updated for latest machines so whenever someone decides to play a game can enjoy it in the best possible way.
@DRPOOPZILLA yep, i still have the 1st and 2nd dino crisis and both prima stragety guides for them. I doubt Capcom will completely remake them or sony paying Capcom.
@@TorryGood I got them as well! but not the strategy guides, it sucks cause I feel like they’d make good money from remastering them, seems like a no brainer to me 🤷🏻
I've never played HZD, but I was interested. However, I'm not paying $50 for 7-year-old game, and I will never buy a PC game that requires a PSN account.
Everyone in here asking for remasters and remakes all day. But what we need is new games that are breaking ground, or at least games that do established mechanics well. You all ask for remasters and remakes and this is what you get.
I am playing the remastered for the second time. The first time, I did the new game+, now doing a new game with the "easy" difficulty, which in my opinion is hard enough without the perks of a newgame+ Anyway, what I wanted to say about that new version of Zero Dawn is: first, it is lighter on the pc than the first version (which I played with lower settings to prevent the game from crashing), now I can set the graphics a bit higher. A second thing is the graphism. Awesome!!!! Really! The texture of the skins, the fabrics, everything has been polished perfectly. And a final plus is the re-acting of the characters. If you remember (if you have played Zero Dawn before) the mimics of the characters in cutscenes were a bit odd. Now, it looks a lot more realistic. I understand the gamers who wonder why a recent game has been remastered while some old games are still pixeled and still in vogue. But, I think it was easier to do HZD, as, you must allow that, the game was already almost perfect compared to many games sold at the same time. That means, maybe it was a test for the work to be done and also for the reaction of the market. We all do the same: we correct and polish our last or most recent work and find out we could just do the same for old ones too. Another reason might also be that, seeing the evolution of the quality between HZD and HFW, the people who created the game thought they might just do a bit of a lifting to the first game. Haven't we seen many videos that compared HFW with HZD remastered, and few comparing HZD with HZD remastered? Anyway, for those who can and are still enthusiastic about the game, I recommend Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
I bought the upgrade so that my wife could play the game for the first time. It is a pretty impactful overhaul overall, and it looks like a great way to experience the game in 2024. I'll definitely jump in for a second playthrough at some point when my backlog is a little smaller. I've spent £10 on far less in the past.
When I heard about this remaster I fully expected that it was almost solely done to make the MC chubby so people would stop comparing the original design to the sequal design.
Yeah but the difference is, that bloodborne is quite a bit older than for example horizon. The game feels like it runs at 20 FPS and 720p. (And such a fast Game NEEDS 60 FPS - I would like to replay the game but Im Not doing it at that Framerate) Also it looks ok but not amazing compared to the Demons Souls Remake for example. Biggest reason still is that we still dont have a PC port. Oh and Bloodborne is just an amazing game in general and would be worth it.
The nonstop discourse around whether or not something "needed" a remaster never fails to entertain. I get it, but as someone who has owned and had Horizon Zero Dawn on my backlog for years, this makes it feel truly worth the wait.
I mean, I've played both and I still bought this.. I played zero dawn on release and the forbidden west o release too. Now il go through zero dawn remastered on ultra hard and see how far I get. Let people enjoy what they enjoy ffs
Loved this game when it came out. Got the platinum for it and everything. Haven’t really played it since the DLC came out for it though, so for 10 bucks I’ll gladly revisit one of my favorites. Definitely liked the story better in the first than the second.
While the original still looks great. There is still a lot of jank because it was Guerilla's first try at a open world action RPG. The most glaring part is the lack of motion capture in the games dialogue scenes. The characters talk while their character models are stiff and robotic like. It VERY pronounced if you play the Frozen Wilds DLC (which had motion capture in dialogue scenes) and then go back to the base game. They go from having so much life in their performances to being stiff and robotic like. The child character models also looked really weird in the original. Also the original had some areas that lacked a lot of pollish in regards to the foilage. The team for the remaster went to the original concept art to bring the game up to a standard that wasn't possible in 2017.
I love this game , I preordered this and will be downloading on Steam today. Looks so good on PC and much more fun to play Bow Spec with mouse and keyboard. Also got my Forbidden West.
Personally, I got a PS5 from a trade. I also picked up the original for $5 on disc. Enjoyed the game a lot from the little bit I played to where I bought the remastered upgrade for the $10. For what I paid, it's a bomb ass game. I'd say it's easily worth the $50 if you don't already own the game.
This is one of my favorite games of all time. Ive been itching to get back into it again and I think the remaster might be the push I need. I just wish it didnt require a PSN account when the original didn't
What an absolute waste of resources. The game is literally 7 years old, and by no means a dated looking game to start with. The original runs perfectly on PS5 and if I remember correctly also can run 60fps as well. Like what was the point of this other than a cash grab/tech demo for the PS5 pro? Literally NOBODY asked for or wanted this. Sony could have gave us that cancelled Spiderman Spiderverse game or The Last of us multiplayer standalone, but no, we get Concord and a Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster. As a PlayStation simp, I really want to support and defend them, but...I'm genuinely shocked and appalled that the higher ups keep making choices like this. Like are they allergic to money, or just tone deaf??? Do some research and listen to your customers, otherwise you're gonna sabotage yourself into the ground. The state of the game industry is a joke. I'll happily just support indie studios instead of giving my hard earned money to stupid tone deaf corporations at this point.
Ps5 has more of same stuff than having original ip. It's a shameful generation. They are giving a remake and remasters to games that already looks good but not to those which are older like ps2 and ps3 games and have better stories. It's just a cash grab because they don't want to do the hardwork of making new assets, characters, stories and new gameplay.
Been playing it. It's easy to just take the graphics for granted and get into gaming mode, doing the missions etc. If you just take a minute and slowly walk around and really take everything in. It's just a stunning game.
This is one of my top 10 favorites. The open world can be overwhelming and the grind for machine parts for upgrades gets a bit much sometimes. I like the old mix with new tech. The second game kept me on my toes with the storyline twists and turns.
Bloodborne which runs at 20fps, feels like its on 720p, and with the entire world popping out of existence if you turn a corner too fast? Nahhhh, remaster a game that already looks great and ran great for no reason
@@oystersoup3434 She's not uglier. Why is she uglier. She looks cleaner. She looks hot in both to me. I'd rather they undated face movements and left the more warrior looking face. But both look great. And far from ugly. Go look at Starfield female character in that DLC. My God that is a horrible character model.
I will try it but just saw the video and confirmed they did nothing to the health system which consists of gathering plants to fill the green bar that you can then use to refill your health. The problem being how little each plant refills the green bar and how much green bar it takes refill your actual health. It's the first thing you notice they fixed when playing the sequel.
The added visual flair is neat, but the original game could already go 60fps on ps5 and still looks awesome. Sure, you could nit-pick some things but honestly its a beautiful game today that didn't need a remaster. I heard Sony pulled the old game from sale so the remaster is the only option and that's absolutely ridiculous. Even Sonic Adventure 2 is more reasonable. you could buy the "dreamcast" equivalent version, and then cheaply upgrade it to the "Battle" version. I would much rather see a "Killzone remastered collection." I never got to play the original games, they seem pretty impressive, but the PS4 was my first Playstation console so I completely missed out of the PS2 games. I imagine alot of people are in the same boat as me, switching from the Xbox 360 to the PS4 so I think a Killzone remaster would move ALOT more units!
This game was my first "All Achievements" on Steam (aka Platinum). Took me 180hrs. Also: Nixxes should do a Blood Borne remaster. They know what they are doing (technically) unlike From Soft :D
Discovering what happened to the world through side missions and a deeper understanding of the relationships between those involved really made me wanna explore more in the first one. Petition for the studio to apply this level of lore to the Killzone franchise. Shadow fall had something going for it 😢
Remember, in the original pc port of Zero Dawn, the eye and face animations were tied to the framerate and would bug out if the framerate was over 30 fps. This doesn't seem to be an issue now with this remaster. I honestly couldn't play the OG port because of it. Now I can enjoy the game.
I've only just finished the main story of the game, and have a lot of other things to do. Been playing it for about a week and a half. Absolutely love it, and am getting the upgrade as soon as I can.

I like Ashley a lot, but I hate her performance as Aloy. Her voice just isn't fitting for the character. It sounds far too "modern" and clean for an outcast wilderness woman who's had to tough it out on the fringes of society. I wish they would've gone with another VA.

Then that cycle continues over and over
Thought I was the only one who did this .
You will figure out what is going on if you keep playing. The story picks up towards the end.
That is exactly what I did with Horizon Zero Dawn... It just didnt really grab me. At least not yet, I'll give it another shot with the remaster.
Love both Horizon games definitely gonna get the upgrade on mu ps5 as I have the complete edition on ps4
The game that was like that for me was Ghost of Tsushima
@Phoenix11720 that was a great name too It's a shame they've started this thing with trying to enforce the PlayStation Network. That's causing me to not purchase all of those games.
Well said my fellow Nora Seeker 👏🏻
We have problems with cars lasting ten years and on here it's been a thousand years🙃. My biggest pet peeve about Forbidden West is the sounds are inconsistent. The Tenakth Reaver should be the quietest and they have The Quen Commander as the quietest. This is backwards and when running through the base the Tenakth sometimes sounds like a Clydesdale🙄. Well that and they should have the save for the base inside where she can go to sleep😒.
@@Phoenix11720I liked that one too. I would love to visit however the sulfur would put me in the hospital if not the grave.

Yes please!

And this comment is exactly why you can look forward to more remasters instead of actual games. Enjoy.

so tired of seeing bethesda and souls titles being talked about. hope this gets more people on this franchise
Maybe it wasn't necessary, but it's definitely the best remaster in recent years. Graphically it's an incredible improvement, to the point of looking more like a remake. Great job.
The best remaster was NieR replicant in 2021.
They upgraded the graphics, they upgraded the combat to be more like it's sequel NieR:Automata, they redid the music (some songs were improved, others worsened), they redid the voice acting using all of the original voice actors, they added voice acting to all character dialog in the game (like for NPCS speaking)
They added the cut content the original release in 2010 never got (new side story, and more importantly the true Canon ending of the game). They added a couple new songs too.
They also added a DLC that let players dress the characters in NieR:Automata characters outfits, and they also allowed the player to use NieR:Automatas music instead of replicants if they wanted to.
It's more than a remaster, less than a full remake. They just called it an upgrade, or "NieR Replicant ver 1.22"
That is the gold standard for remastering a game.
Another good (but not quite as good) remaster is the destroy all humans 1 and 2 remasters.

Replicant ver 1.22 did everything it could to be as faithful as possible to the original while improving as much as possible.

Are you gonna get the VR version?
At least they didn't get greedy here. $10 seems fine for what you get as you've already likely paid full price in the past for this.

The character models are a huge upgrade for sure. They look better than FW even.
I didn't realize this needed a remaster 🤔
I didn't realize games not even 10 years old yet needed remasters
It didn't unless you want to pay an extra $10 for a chubby faced Aloy.
It didn't.
It looked pretty rough if you compare it to the second one
People getting mad for the weirdest shit. It didn't need a remaster. But did Sony want to pay a studio to remaster it? Yes. They are only charging $10 for an upgrade and $50 retail. If you are playing on Playstation you didn't have the option to play Zero Dawn at 60 fps. Now you do. Remastering a game like this is going to be a lot easier for a studio to do than remastering a PS2 or PS3 game.
Man, Sony has really been milking their ps4 games... So why haven't we gotten Bloodborne on PC?
You can play Dustborn instead on PC 😂
Because they hate money, apparently. Ignore the Bloodborne fans for over 5 years; try to shove Concord down our throats; remaster ZD when absolutely NO ONE was asking for it…
What other conclusion could one come to?
A game got remastered that doesn't require a remaster

Everyone in here asking for remasters and remakes all day. But what we need is new games that are breaking ground, or at least games that do established mechanics well. You all ask for remasters and remakes and this is what you get.
Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best sci fi game stories ever made and now with the graphics of modern games, I'm in
I am playing the remastered for the second time. The first time, I did the new game+, now doing a new game with the "easy" difficulty, which in my opinion is hard enough without the perks of a newgame+
Anyway, what I wanted to say about that new version of Zero Dawn is: first, it is lighter on the pc than the first version (which I played with lower settings to prevent the game from crashing), now I can set the graphics a bit higher.
I don't mind the idea of a $10 upgrade business model.
When I heard about this remaster I fully expected that it was almost solely done to make the MC chubby so people would stop comparing the original design to the sequal design.
2:48 what the hell happened to Varl?!! Looks like he's experiencing some kind of allergy with the lower face swelling.

One thing I do like is you can turn off pickup animations like you can in FW.
do current mods work with the remastered game?
Everyone saying… oh don’t remaster ps4 games but if they remastered Bloodborne everybody would stay quiet and buy it like crazy
Definitely worth 10 dollars!
The nonstop discourse around whether or not something "needed" a remaster never fails to entertain. I get it, but as someone who has owned and had Horizon Zero Dawn on my backlog for years, this makes it feel truly worth the wait.

Why does this game need a remaster it’s like saying mw2019 needs to be remastered

What an absolute waste of resources.
The game is literally 7 years old, and by no means a dated looking game to start with.
The original runs perfectly on PS5 and if I remember correctly also can run 60fps as well.

Very excited to pick this up and start it properly, after picking up the original around lockdown and barely scratching the surface
Remember, in the original pc port of Zero Dawn, the eye and face animations were tied to the framerate and would bug out if the framerate was over 30 fps. This doesn't seem to be an issue now with this remaster. I honestly couldn't play the OG port because of it. Now I can enjoy the game.
