In this video I discuss the 5 things I wish I knew before I upgraded to a 1000cc motorcycle. My first bike was a 2001 honda cbr f4i and then I moved on to a 2003 honda cbr600rr. After that, I bought a 2008 yamaha r6 and absolutely hated it. It was the only bike I bought from a dealership and had a terrible experience both at the dealership and during ownership. After I sold the yamaha r6 I bought a 2007 Honda cbr1000rr which has been seen on the channel in other motovlogs and videos.
In this video I pretend that you are a friend that is thinking about upgrading from a 600cc motorcycle (zx6r, gsxr600, etc) to a 1000cc motorcycle (gsxr1000, zx10r, etc.). Here is exactly what I would tell them. Take the advice as you want.
    1) Need to have ultimate respect for the bike
    2) Understand how to maneuver, corner, emergency brake, etc. your current bike
    3) Be comfortable with wheelies
    4) Plan for increases in insurance, maintenance, and gas budgets
    5) Get excited for all of the technology that comes on the 1000s!!

Another quality video man! You just need that one viral clip/video and ur gonna blow haha ! - I had a 650 for about 900 miles (4-5months) and jumped to the R1 .. have about 5200 miles on it and have had it a year and a half now..had 0 riding experience of any kind before the 650 I just would say I’m “mature” and know the damn thing could kill me! I wish I had my go pro on the other night .. did have one of my bigger “oh shit, this is it” moment..I was racing a 370z and I knew the road and all but I obviously smoked em but I hit a pretty big bend in the road and just countersteered hard, leaned, and looked through the turn and like magic all was good !
Stay safe out there everybody, never let ur ego get the best of you !

I sure hope so...that'd be a dream come true 🙌🏾🤣 I always tell myself my bike is a better rider than me so it ultimately comes down to how much balls and confidence I have to really lean the bike over in those situations! Experience is the BEST teacher! Glad you made it out safely! Thank you for always watching and supporting 🤟🏾

Probably one of my favorite videos you’ve done. I literally just got my bike in late April this year and about to hit 41k miles when I got it it had 21k miles. Nearly 20k miles on a 650 in less than 6 months a lot of twisties and straights It’s been a absolute blast riding, a lot of smiles and laughing. I got good experience driving in ATLANTA with vehicles, after a few months of riding I decided to take my bike to Atl man that was wild for a new rider but I managed and cut up a little bit and the sunset and city lights it was a good ride just gotta remember your limits and ride your own ride I try to keep
That In mind. I ain’t been back since though the 650
Just feels weak on the straights and weaving through Atlanta interstates, but on them back road curves I love it. Really looking forward to putting several more thousand miles on my current bike and upgrading to a 1000. I’ve been thinking about a CBR or Suzuki but gotta save up a tad bit of cash and sale
My current bike. That bike life is awesome wish I would of gotten a bike sooner in life, love the content bro be safe!

I started off on cruisers and then moved to sport bikes starting with the Honda CBR 600 and not long after I went and snagged the '06 CBR1000RR. Just cuz it was such a good deal and I immediately was like I actually prefer the 600. I feel like it's a little more forgiving on the throttle. Lighter and plenty of power. I don't need to be going 180 everywhere. I'd rather get up and go super fast which the 1000 does but like I said it's not as forgiving. I think all in all a 600 has plenty of power. Maybe even a 750 would be a good happy medium. Appreciate your videos man!! 🤘😎

GSXRaiders oh tell me about it lol i definitely did not just hop on that thing and i was in the driveway for about the first 2 days just finding the friction zone. Then it was a ride around the neighborhood at about 10 mph before i had to take the bike to the shop so yea the rims after that it was a bunch of practice to get to where i am.. putting myself in a heap of uncomfortable positions like riding in hail but i wanted to be good at this cause like you said this shit coulda been over whenever messing around

so true. Been only riding three years, but every day rain or shine. (even when the city flooded and water over the engine) Can't really see myself in a car again. Come a long way, few bad accidents, few injuries. Gained some maturity and a lot more chill. Enjoy those rides, feel it, be in it.

Your right hand controls the power keep it under 7k and you’ll be fine. What other mods you got planned? I suggest -1/0 or -1/-1 for sprockets. My bikes got pretty much all basic bolt ons aside from velocity stacks and the graves cam.
Also see that your bike hasn't been flashed, you'll fall in love with it again. Send it to Nick from Xplane R1 Custom Tuning.

    • @FastLaneD
      @FastLaneD  3 роки тому

Is that where you got your tune? I have a video that I want to make before I get her tuned, but plan on getting that done ASAP! She needs it...did you get a speedoheeler when you did the sprocket change? I'd also love to get a quickshifter. Thank you for watching 🤟🏾

Yeah my bike has that flash now. I used to have an SBU flash, then I sent it to Nick and the bike felt SO much better.
And the flash takes care of speedo calibration if you decide to change your sprockets. I personally have the Danos quick shifter and I’m happy with it. A lot of people use the dynojet one and are happy with it as well.
I highly suggest joining the R1 owners group on FB, tons of good information on there 👍🏽

Ride it. Just take it easy, get down some nice quiet roads to open it up, start getting a feel on the straights then the twistys. I'd recommend you open it up tho It it will make you less nervous when you understand the bike more, but do this in your own time, litre bikes can flip you fast.
