This focused lessons are gold for some of us. There is just no way to learn this things by yourself, and sometimes there is no one to ask. The basis are sure covered in hundreds of videos, but this bits are just awesome. I have actually avoided logs as pest by raw fear of injury, but I will sure start working on it now.

I was out riding today and hit an old overgrown trail with lots of fallen trees. I used the method of do nothing and hope for the best...haha.
This advise is something that I’ve done for decades and don’t really think about it. It kind of cool to hear the explanation and told very well. Good job sir. 👍🏻
In order to become better riders, we have to practice the things that we are not good at.... things that take us out of our comfort zone. Adam, you have a special talent for riding, teaching, and explaining things as you do them.

FWIW - many of the techniques are familiar from the days that I rode observed trials with the local club. Some viewers may or may not have had the opportunity to ride trials, or experience what a trials motorcycle feels like. Firm believer, that a trials bike geometry makes difficult things easier. One would have to feel it, to understand it. However...... that being said, I am so madly in love with that TE300 - too cool for words

I’m picking up my new WR250 from my local shop this week. Haven’t been on a bike since my teens and at 55 I have it all to learn. I’ve been soaking up your vids like a sponge for a couple of years and wanted to get into a bike again since your series on the WR’s. Hi Adam, thanks for another great video. I think slippery logs at an angle have been my biggest undoing on mountain bikes and motorbikes over the years. The best success I’ve had with big logs on a motorbike is when they come up quickly and I haven’t had time to overthink getting over.

@ARiemann1 would u ever consider sharing ur Comp. and Rebound Clicks for the T7? Recently got one and I have about the same weight as you. It'd be awesome to have a point of reference to go from. I know you made a video about suspension before and mentioned you don't wanna get into the specifics of it, but actually a video on it from you would be "my dream". Your stuff is always heaps more understandable than from others and I'd love to get your take on how to "feel" if comp or rebound is either too hard or soft. There has got to be some sort of relatable indicator on how it "feels right".

So good man, please keep on teaching. Your ability to talk out the moves as your doing it is brilliant, and hearing the throttle and watching the reaction of the bike
is full of valuable information. A clutch hand cam, like one of those little Insta 360s, would add a lot for for me if displayed Picture in Picture.

The most important lesson here is "Don't half ass it!" Almost every situation I've gotten myself into whether on the trail or the track was a result of half assing it. When you're stuck on that log, you may tell yourself and your buddies it was because the log was too greasy, but deep down, you know.

Good how-to on these. I fit somewhere in the middle of the group this is aimed at, ive gotten pretty comfortable with logs up to front axle height, but I encounter enough bigger ones i need to work myself up more, getting my survival instincts out of the way so muscle memory can take over has always been the hardest part.

I have been gaining confidence jumping large logs but that all changed with my last attempt, the bike did get over the log and so did I but only after going over the handle bars. At first I thought I had broken both my wrists but luckily only sprained.
I know where it went wrong, I was trying to use speed to get me over

Mate how many times I've kept that throttle on thinking I'm helping to ride across that log and ended up doing the sideways slide, prep early and shut it down. Its so counterintuitive! I still screw it 50% of the time. I like how you admitted some panic throttle.

2:15 that's exactly how I dropped my bike running over a small metal water pipe running diagonally out of nowhere over a wet grassland, going downhill.. Took the fall a day before and I'm seeing this video today.. Talk about timing.

Unfortunately, I broke a shoulder ligament while exercising this technique with a minuscule log. Whisky throttle :) Can’t wait to get back in shape and continue where I left. Cheers!
Haha, reminds me of when I was a kid on my yz80 and tried to ride over a football like a log..messed up my collarbone with that stunt..
