#WOTC #Modded Beyond Reason is basically an edited highlights playthrough of the Chosen DLC Expansion for #XCOM2 on Legend difficulty, Ironman Mode, with an ever growing list of absurd mods. Plus some custom jokes, montages etc of my own thrown in for the odd funny moments! I love this game!

Just fucking around my ass... you started the Avatar hunt, and added a lot to the story by killing all 3 chosen... (BTW this is a reference to the pre-premiere chat where he said this episode wasn't anything to do with the story and this episode was just fucking around)

The episode was well worth the wait OEM, great job in it, had me interested right from the intro and the ending was great too can’t wait for the next episode

Rising tides ghost gatherer Is where that particular ability exists. And the funny thing is the Gatherer is the WEAKEST of the ghost classes (there are three)

Also i liked how every chosen Chamber was different too.
Assassin: Massive primarily Focused melee Beasts that walk funny.
Hunter: A fuckload of Boiiiiisss (And tech priests) .
Warlock: A lot of Himself??? And Cthulu s great great grand kids.
And zero too!
OEM: "I'm gonna blow up the Sarcophagus while the Warlock is in Stasis."
Me, who tried it before: *"PANIC! PANIC! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"*
I had that problem with the assassin, and I'm DREADING the day I gotta fight the warlock next!
This episode, man... The voice acting, the "three squad leaders" scenario, the hard-fought wins and utterly BRUTAL pyrrhic victories... It's not even a battle anymore, it's a messy, messy slugfest of bloodshed. Most Let's Players make sure to not begin a series until they have finished and mastered a game back-and-center, especially in strategy games like this, but the sheer desperation in this series *really* sells it as a masterful After-Action Report.
I still want to see what the Warlock was talking about, though... And given the game was Modded Beyond Reason, I don't think he was just talking about the Elder's Avatar...
We were supposed to release the Avatar Project when we skull jacked the Codex...
We released The Man Behind The Wall, may god help us all...
I mean even if he was a pro at XCOM I don't think anything could have prepared him for this modded nightmare.
OEM, who had repeatedly stated he's never actually played through the game before and even if he did doesn't remember what's modded and what isn't anymore. "FIne! I'll skullmine a Codex since they keep throwing them at me!"
Me, who has played through the game multiple time, although not modded what so ever. "No! Not during a big mission! Never during a big mission!"
And then a super avatar pops out of it.

So... given that a lot of the actual lore we have hints at the elders either running from something or being scared of something, which may or may not be the decay of their bodies... this take is actually somewhat accurate, as funny and reality breaking as it might be
"Gil heard the Earth was in trouble, so he thought hed help. He thought he could do it all himself, and if it weren't for you, he would have done it." Holy shit that's powerful couple lines. Bravo on your writing sir.

The Discount Ranger even fought a knockoff or two of him! But yes, Prak Jaws is *infamous* for his absolute ruthless effectiveness and refusal to die, and just in general how fucking terrifying he was.

The Assassin mission was so easy, I was thinking to myself, "Yeah, OverEnglishMan's got this campaign wrapped up in the bag." But then the Hunter's trolling reinforcements showed up and I was on the edge of my seat! And then the Warlocks, oh God! The Warlocks! Perfectly chaotic and a VERY entertaining!
Excuse me what the f***? How many abilities does Kaum have? Is he secretly Chuck Norris because it seems like the answer is "all of them"?
Had to rep the “Superclass” mod series at least once lol. And Choso can’t be retried so it made sense to bring some cinema stupid as a one off XD

My god, man. It just keeps getting better. Gill's boys slapped FIRE from those Chosen tonight. This was one hell of a dose of retribution. But that intro. Commander Edward appealing to the crew of the I.S.S. Hammond (I seriously want to hear their story at some point, if possible. I saw somewhere else in the comments about "episodes" of "Sam's RPG" which I guess is the campaign they're from?), their arrival crashing the Chosen meeting with the Elders after celebrating their take-down of X-Com's most celebrated Sniper... to the building "oh shit" on the Chosen's faces as they prepare for the unholy reckoning they have just brought down on their own heads.
To say nothing about the missions themselves. I haven't dared take on the Purge Priests in my own games yet, and this isn't helping my courage any! But holy terrifying tits on a Faceless Slenderman, that Warlock Chamber! The anomolies, the MULTIPLE WARLOCKS, that WHATEVER THE HELL that Avatar got turned into...! Based on abilities, I guess that's from the Avatar Ruler mod? Since he was getting Ruler Reactions, and I remembered reading about that power that tries to Mind Control *everyone*.
...also, I can't help but notice that Tekh Jaws survived Ghar'ah's Kamikaze Annihilation attack...

As a storyteller you have my respect for your dedication and ability to engage. Found you through Sethy boy's XCom series... Two? Three? Years ago? I enjoyed what you had of XCom at the time, then I watched your Darkest Dungeon vids. When I reached the end of that series I KNEW you were something special, and to this day you have not yet let me down. I LOVE your content, and the fact that you are not a vastly bigger channel than you are is a great injustice.
I should have finished it by now, but I keep rewatching that magnificent opening sequence.

I'd still love a mod that lets you at least turn the Hunter to your side. He seems like so done with the Elders.

there is not a mod but a command for it that you can let any chosen be on your side, in a mission. It would take 2 turns for them to be ready to be played.

Well, sad to see the hunter go. Your interpretation of him was genuinely incredible, so much so I written a character like him. The chosen were my favorite part of the series, and I’m glad they went out with a bang.
I really appreciate the creativity and effort you put into these. These videos feel like a perfect combination of our unchained childhood imaginations and a narrative crafted by a seasoned story teller. You're amazing.
It was a good idea to merge those three missions in one video like that. They are very similiar. becomes somewhat tedious over time. tactics are repeating over and over because there are so many rooms with closed door so you do your breach room tactic over and over again and so on...
Indeed. The idea hit when I realised for rhythmic all the three runs were with “beats” in the same places. But I wasn’t sure people could take the switching so it was a bit of a gamble. Glad I combined them all in the end tho

I haven't really had a chance yet to comment on any of your videos but *man* does this one show just how much effort you really put into this to make it something wholly unique. From the different messages the chosen send, the cuts into the prison with our new enemy to look forward too, combining three separate missions into one cohesive story that actually makes sense? It blows me away on this one. Thank you for putting so much of yourself into these and I'm *very* excited to see where this goes next good sir.

I've been binging this series for the past couple days and it's been an absolute blast. Awesome work OEM, you're an absolute genius and legend to come up with this awesome story in an already great game.
When I played WOTC the first time. I was so scared of Assassin that I went to her tower unprepared. Everyone died, and I had to deal with her for the rest of the play through. I thought she would be the worst.
Turns out WARLOCK dude is the fucking worst! I wasn't playing with mods or anything, but it was still super hard with him teleporting everywhere. None of my weapons did crazy damage like this, so multiple turns went by with Warlock teleporting and constantly flanking everyone. Somehow I won without anyone dying. I have no idea how I pulled that off. I played on Commander difficulty, which I don't think is as hard as what you're playing?
Yeah Assassin hits like a truck early game but can be countered hard later - Hunter is sort of midrange - Poorlock starts out laughable and ends up monstrous.
Also, apparently their "in-house" AI is different from their AI out and about, they all derp a bit in their chambers due to the devs knowing there's multiple "rounds". Which can make even weirder chaos.
I gotta say your editing abilities are awesome. Had a fun couple of runs like yours, in that I've got a ton of mods running, but it's the editing and adding hilarious lines, editing cutscenes, etc, that give your videos a fair bit more flavorful fun.

Your intros for these videos are insane they never fail to get me so hyped up for the video, keep up the amazing stuff and hope you're doing well mate

Oh wow, that was.... something else. Those supersoldiers were ridiculously OP, but what i find absolutely hilarious is that the enemies are able to keep up the pressure. Even more so when what I have to assume is the new series antagonist in the form of a LUDICROUSLY powerful Avatar did a UNO reverse card move and mind-controlled the one OP guy.
