Good lord I have NEVER seen the AI bug out that badly before. The problems you've been experiencing have been making me antsy for this series's future. I guess by some miracle its buzzing along, but you gotta wonder how many glitches have infested your file at this point. I can only imagine you're a pretty busy bee trying to keep things from flying apart.

@@EditEdward by the way did you know you can but weapon mods on the bolt caster by switching characters in the menu where you choose what piece of Armor/weapons you want to mod i do it just to put Some reload mods on it so the unit using it does not fall that far behind cause of constant reloads

I can't iterate this enough: the amount of effort put into these videos seriously doesn't reflect on the subscription and view count. I think those oughta be way bigger. I love binging on snacks for these, even if the extreme difficulty is giving my sympathetic pains.
ALSO, I think I had a similar reaction when I saw that ginormous Cryssalid. Now that is just unfair. Honestly after the disaster that was the Avenger defense I'd take the AI bugging out and accept the freebie.
They might've been bigger once, but life keeps parading delays and crushing my relativity in the eyes of the algorithim system. Can't help it rly :)
Can confirm you're dead to the algorithm. I literally didn't know this video ever existed until today- 7 months later. It never popped up in the subscriptions
I also love OverEnglishman, but I think the subscription + viewership is on point (at the moment). Not because he doesn't deserve more, but as TearOfGrace showed once, the bigger the fandom grows, the harder it is to keep up with viewers, commenters, criticism and recommendations. See how much OEM keeps up with daily commenters and people that give him tips throughout the videos, and then picture how hard it would be to do that when you're dealing with a crowd of 500,000 instead of 50,000 for example.
It's a selfish way of viewing things, but it would be nice to see him finish at least series like this one that relies heavily on fanbase participation to fill in the custom soldiers, THEN blow up on UA-cam.

Y'know, I thought this mission would just be a massacre with all your units dying due to encountering the chryssalid hive queen alongside her children, thankfully the chryssalids were mentally deficient and the 4 advent units that appeared didn't even get to do anything too harmful before being shot down, not to mention that nearly every time something attacked your units it'd miss, considering the amount of enemies your units were up against, this mission went about as good as it could have.

I am deeply concerned by the mere existence of the Chryssalid Hive Queen. Thank God the AI broke, because that much armor and HP _on a Chryssalid that is also a Ruler_ is a violation of the Geneva Convention and several other laws of war.
As for the Exaulted Custodian Grandmaster...I hope someone paid the modder to design that, because it was stunning to gaze upon.

There's one other issue...the second Hive Queen.
Custodians and Pathfinders are amazing - Hive too when you don't install mid campaign and break their brains
@@EditEdward very, I've already encountered and murdered multiple Custodians in my own series.
@Isaac Barrett I...can't quite remember at the moment, last time I played XCOM 2 was eleven months ago, and besides that, I'm pretty sure I'm using the Standalone versions of the full mod, which just give you the Metion Battlesuits and Custodians independently of each other.
So, sorry, but I...can't really help with this. It'd probably be a good idea for you to check the actual mod page or contact Claus (the creator of the mod) in the XCOM 2 Modding Discord, honestly.

Ah yes. my solution to the hive fleet was:
a lot of Bolter fire.
Man that one Bolter Weapon mod is op.. and negates the op stuff from enemies..
P.S Ok.. I did not encounter the hive queen in my legendary -too many mods - playthrough.. ouch..
P.P.S naaah, I think the mod spawns enemies near you and bigger ones move in concealment.

Depends which bolter, there's a few bolter mods. I personally like the one that just makes it another cosmetic for guns (ie same old stats)
@@EditEdward "the bolter" one of the earlier ones. Yeah I like variety. The high stats were countered with a clip size of three. But then.. Everyone of those has rapid fire what really makes them op.
I like variety, especially if a bolter is supposed to be devastating. One can still properly balance stuff like that.. Most people don't. There are some incredible shit in the workshop

I normally end up recording mission some weeks after the setup / liftoff - thus have no idea what’s ahead or what I brought. But I try not to roll out the wtf material unless the enemy is hefty or “unknown”. I appreciate struggle and like to maintain it where I can, and where the AI doesn’t hard derp
But if ADVENT go full YuGiOh Dartz by the end. I’ll give ‘em hell

I've used the Hive mod with FAR less mods than you have in your list, and you need to know it can be VERY DANGEROUS to install it mid-campaign; I'm not talking "the enemies are powerful and can take your squad out easily" dangerous, I'm talking *"Your game can get incredibly unstable, you can INSTANTLY LOSE MISSIONS BEFORE THEY EVEN BEGIN because the enemies don't show up so the game treats it as a default loss because your squad is physically incapable of taking down ANY of them and CAN SERIOUSLY SCREW YOU OVER IF THE MISSION IN QUESTION IS CRITICAL"* dangerous.
It's not just game-breaking bugs either. I once fought the Hive Queen and she was just like in your mission; she did literally NOTHING in the fight except stand there and wait for my units to kill her. She didn't even retreat, it was a complete anti-climatic washout.
And lastly, if you're still planning on continuing to use the mod, remember that the invisible white Chameleon Chryssalids cheat like hell in every mission they appear in, ESPECIALLY Terror/Rescue missions, they can reveal themselves and attack on the same turn, and they deal a disgusting amount of damage. ALWAYS bring along a Specialist that can use the Scanning Protocol, or another unit that can use a similar variant of that skill if you don't want to get flanked to Hell and back. The only mercy here is that at least the Hive Chryssalids targets both your units AND any ADVENT unit they find in equal measure.

That said I think the faction has basically died due to (one) queen death, so we'll see

Now, in reflection of what I said in the community post a few days ago.
There are a few ways people can react to seeing the.....big thing, I'm not far enough in to really know what the accurate name is, but the giant f off spider with 160 health. Say a quiet 'oh' and getting ready to kill it, run away or save scum, or what you did, OEM, and just be yourself about it. Having not seen a parallel in other mediums (vods, streams, etc) I can't say which the 'official best' is by data numbers, but I can say that I prefer yours.
Keep this up. You don't have to be amazing, you just have to be you.

Well, that's a fucking gut punch if I ever did hear one. Such an utterly vicious yet casually delivered question that hits so hard it made me do an actual double take. Superbly done writing, my guy, truly. I also adore how you're personifying the ever increasing amount of glitches you encounter into an in-universe phenomenon. I feel as though The Forgotten One (as I'll call it for now) has overshadowed The Elders as the main antagonist of your series by this point whether or not it is working on their behalf. Or I could be completely wrong on that front. Either way, I am looking forward to the next installment of the series. You're doing a fantastic job.

Forgotten (for now) is meant to overshadow them. Nebulous “them nasty alien masters” isn’t quite as personal for a villain, hence Firaxis own creation of the Chosen to attempt to an enemy with more of a “face”.
The Empire was never nebulous “The Empire”. Vader and Sidious WERE The Empire.
Re: working for them or not. Let’s say The Elders woke something up that they thought would serve. And they might have made a mistake.

Well, my fine OverlyEnglish friend, I have come to a conclusion. One: despite the disappointing AI shana-bananagins, I was still greatly entertained. Two: you are hilarious, the proper amount of bombastic, I-don't-even-know-what-I'm-actually-saying-anymore insanity that can brighten any number of bad days.. And third: I've decided I'm going to base a character in one of my short stories after you.
If I ever manage to publish anything, I'm sure you'll figure out which character you inspired.
I know nothing of the Hive mod, so I'm more than likely talking out of my ass here, but my guess is that somehow there was the feral hive queen and the hive queen on the Advent side and the ai just went to shit. But hey on the plus side, thanks so much for the great video, that beginning section took me for a spin. Well this one went surprisingly well, especially since all that one Hive Queen did was stand there MENACINGLY....and then not so menacingly after a while.
I can't wait until you get like a situation with 4 different sides fighting each other not including you because of the immense amount of mods in your game
Sadly impossible due to how most mod factions use teams. Cerberus, Collectors etc are all subsets of advent. The original raider factions are their own factions but I removed most of them as they conflicted with other lots that made for better video sadly
