If how you've been responding is any indication, it would make sense for you to not understand this as if your UA-cam responses are similar to your irl conversation skills, the concept of a friend may be foreign to you. In a professional band, it's no one's job to make sure everyone's ready, it's everyone's job always be ready. Nothing looks more amateur than a band that has several seconds of dead air time after every song while everybody gets a drink and everybody make sure everybody's ready... Usually a setlist will be broken up into three or four song chunks after which the band. will say something to the crowd then bust into the next group of songs playing each one immediately following the previous one until time to interact with the crowd again.... The young lady simply tried to sneak in a quick drink or forgot that the next song was going to immediately roll. Whoever is not ready is at fault not the person who starts the song.

@@clutchinson7438 my band has 5 members and we do mostly rock covers and a few originals. most bars only wanna shell out around 400 for 3 sets (weddings usually pay double that). we load and unload our own equipment and then split the pay evenly between the 5 of us. our drummer has an assistant that hes willing to pay seperately to help him. i cant afford a tech and i dont trust any one appointed to me to handle my expensive guitars. and yes we tune up as fast as possible. I know that G string took a beating during my lead on Johnny B. Goode so thats the one ill check. the digi tuner cuts my sound so no one has to hear me check it and yes i do it quickly while my singer sets us up for the next one. theres levels to this shit and just cuz you aint on that 20,000 screaming fans level dont make you a chump. your comment made me laugh btw, theres always drunks bumping into our shit. the worst is when people think that they can come up and sing into my mic or they try to touch our shit while we are on break. and theres always a drunk dude who wants to play the drums while we are tryin to setup and we have had to get mean a few times like "no you cant play the solo from moby dick while we try to soundcheck. fuck off." i could go on forever but i wont lol

I take the Norm Macdonald approach when I drum. If someone tries to start without me I let them. Then I just stare at them smiling while they try to figure out how to make it look like I'm the one who screwed up when they're the only one playing.

@@alexrivas1993the snare would normally be to the left of the big kick drum you see. Also, the cymbal on the rightmost side (hi-hat) would normally be played with the left foot, and the kick drum with the right foot Its inverted in this case
this is one of my biggest fears between each song. Do I have enough time to take a drink? Will I spill my drink if I don't? I never know. This is why you always have songs that have at least 10 or more seconds of another instrument as an intro haha. Or don't drink on songs that drums start.
