I am still so amazing at the progression of guitarist in these days. No one would have even imagined people playing like this 20 years ago. Good job man.
It just sounds like advanced jazz to me.
I don't mind listening to stuff like this when I'm out shopping, but when I really sit down to listen to music, I prefer something with substance.
I totally agree that it sounds beautiful and shit, but when you prefer punk or you know, the small errors humans make, this genre could just as well have been made by a machine.

@@Tableworm Interesting view that I kind of share. Like Polyphia, it seems like a new breed of guitar player has come out. This guy is out of this world, technically for sure, however his melodies are beautiful. But is it getting too technical for the sake of it? Or are we just jealous we can't play like that?

@@Kcaedenn They are, they just happen to use similar chords that are used from the Great Fairy Fountain Song. Nobody owns a chord or set of chords, its just that both use similar ones that create music that sounds heavenly or angelic

I like how when he plays tims guitar it actually sounds like tim playing, but when he picks up his own signature it's classical ichika again
I love how dystopian the neon metropolis looks, and yet there are still people creating art in the midst of it. Maybe in a way that could have never been done without it. These modern guitartists/producers are definitely a reflection/expression of the environment and technology available. Love it!

Most of the time ridiculously talented guitarists show us just that, their talent. He does not lose the art in music, it's art first, it carries emotions. He uses his talent to make art rather than using his art to show talent.
This explanation destroys so many haters who say fast and technical guitar is emotionless.
@SecondhandKid alot of times it is... look at guys like Trower, or Emmanuel. It's literally just guys playing the same 50 yr old songs for 50 years, and adding a bunch if superfluous extra notes, not for melodic reasons but to show off.
There are musicians, and then there are sonic engineers. Everything about your sound is so deliberate. Every little detail has its place. And it's in every single video. Just sonically flawless.
And then there are songwriters like Tim Henson who assemble killer hooks into actual songs that run rings around UA-camrs. The more I listen to and enjoy everyone else the more I admire Polyphia.

I just wanted to say that when I discovered your channel, this was the most recent upload, and it has now been more than a year. I've loved all of the artwork that you've made so far, I can't think of a universe where you are not in my music recommendations. Love it all, keep it up.
Ichika usually goes for simple mixes, but this has some stellar production. It's cool to hear his unique style of playing in the Polyphia trap beat context if there's a name for it

This is bitter sweet for me as I used to play guitar but I ended up ruining my arms and hands due years ocd abuse and had to stop and my love for guitar ended but your music has brought it back for me thank you

I can't get enough of this man's playing. I fancy myself a decent guitarist. I can drum a little, and play bass. He's a real musician. I will never be as good, but it doesn't really matter. I don't get jealous of someone better, I just marvel at the talent.
It's a style. A bit of a boring one tbh. Develop some soul because this style of playing I see all over UA-cam is so robotic it reminds me of something AI generated, it's gimmicky and niche.

@Mikey NemBang Sounds like you're projecting your short comings onto me. This piece isn't a difficult one. Unique style.... unique to who? What makes it unique? Humor me. I'll give a history lesson with your answer. Have you seen polyphia play live? The "crowds" might as well be at an opera with how silent they are, if that's your thing, fine. Ichika has put in the hours, but it's a style that pops up every now and then for at least 300 years. To the original commenter saying he "will never be this good" is a crappy thing for me to hear, and I hear it all the time from young musicians.
This is so sick! It feels like Ichika has unlocked a new level. The combination of the nylon and the beat production is completely fresh for him! What a great vibe to end the year!
The amazing thing about this guy is ability to scale all sorts of modes together, and form his own style based on Japanese musical instruments. I always hear Japan in this guy when he plays.

I come back to this song daily. I had lost my desire to practice guitar a few months ago until I saw this video for the first time. My thoughts consisted of admiration for Ichika's insane skill, and me just thinking about how much I wish I could play that well and skillfully. I hope I'm able to play this song some day with that same level of percision. "Orb" was another huge motivator too

I feel like this is one of the few songs you've made where the more I've watched it the more it speaks out to me. The first riff just perfectly conveys the chaotic thoughts inside our heads especially in these times, just going into a slippery slope with no way out, only seeing the dark and terrible things going on in the world.
And then the tone changes, it sounds as if a loved one is calling us back to reality to show that there are still so many things around us to love and appreciate, it shows the fight in our mind a couple times when eventually the voice truly reaches us, when you change guitars it shows when we start to reawaken and see things again, but we aren't just done with it, this is something we'll have to learn to fight on our own, but we're going in the right direction again.

Thanks bro, I really appreciate this piece and video at this time! I've been having an existentialism crisis at 22 lol! Everything feels meaningless and for nothing, and I've been fighting to find purpose in music and stories whether that be in film, animation, or T.V. format. I celebrated the New Years with some of my friends, but felt so disconnected, lonely, and above all, old. Like time is fading faster. Your music makes me feel like there are new things to explore, and reminds me I'm still young. It also reminded me I'm in control of this moment and I should do my best to live life to the fullest however I can. I agree. People are all too pessimistic about the world since 2019. "You say the whole world is dying, but it already did" is not a good mindset to have, and not even true. There is still so much beauty and wholesomeness, awsome stuff, life, culture... its just not as bad as they think. They look, but they don't see. Its sad, knowing some people can't comprehend there is stilp beauty all around.
