They need to update the kraken to where it drops the same amount of loot as a megladon, cause on a sloop, you get maybe a skull and a crate of rare tea.

It seems to be more of a hazard like the storm than an actual event for gaining loot. Every kraken I can remember from the past few months occured during a pvp encounter.

one more useful tip if you play with someone , you can just harpoon your team mate if he gets sucked.

nah just have your teammate use their fishing pole
The harpoon is even useful if your crew mate falls of the ship by accident 😂
(Aka my bf who constantly falls out getting loot)
Or just use the fishing rod to not get sucked in the first place

New player here that fought a kraken yesterday, I’ve noticed that using an object that gets you “stuck” like a cannon can also be used to prevent being eaten, either that or I didn’t hear enough ramen noodles when I fought it

For some crazy reason i got megged and Krakend with my teamate and we escaped some how, it was like the meg nudged us which made our ship drift out of the krankend water
Some people have gotten a kraken, meg and a skeleton ship while also getting attacked by other people

Useful tip: when you get sucked up in the mouth you can use your gun and shoot the roof of the mouth to get it to release you
Your sword also works when the mouth parts are in the center of your screen

In addition to updating the loot the Kraken drops they need to make it so that it spawns closer to the boat. Most of the time I feel like I have to swim/sail a long way just to get it. I would also love if they added quests for the hunter's call to be able to spawn a megalodon or kraken at a certain location. Maybe add different tiers of kraken as well. Maybe in order to not abuse it they'd put a small cooldown on being able to do those quests.
And then you have me who never ever gets to fight a kraken

The most important tip: if it picks you up, shoot your guns or swing your sword and it will let you go
Only when it closes it's mouth. If you just hit the air it doesn't do anything.
Me and my friends were new the this game and we came across a kraken. When I got flung to an island. We weren't even close to the damn thing. Anyway I find a keg and I kind of do some weird movie shit, wait for the kraken to try and eat me and then when it does I go boom. It ended up killing it. Lol

I've defeated the Kraken in under 30 seconds. Its more of a minor inconvinence than a real threat
It’s kinda sad, I was so terrified when I was first attacked by it, but once you know how to beat it, you realize how much of a joke it is, you just roll your eyes and think of it as a waste of time.

I was the same and yeah, totally agree. We get so annoyed when it comes for us; But also hilarious when another ship chasing you gets kraken'd; It happened twice. Lmfao
It’s a major inconvenience if you are in a battle with another ship

Best thing to do is full raise sails, bring the ship about 180°, and then full sail out. It is much faster than fighting. This is true for every class of ship.

slap battles kraken boss fight be like:
with the addition of throwing knives i highly recommend them for the kraken fight. it has the highest dps when you throw all five so it quickly gets rid of tentacles. useful when you DO want to take care of shipwrapping tentacles or currently have no angle on an arm

Just immediately pull a U-turn as soon as it aggros, turn toward the nearest non -black water, keep helm straight, angle for wind, go below deck if he sucks and leave him behind. If he whacks your ship off coarse, readjust heading. Not even worth fighting
I just met a kraken earlier, certainly easier than soloing a Meg on a sloop
Played with my boyfriend for the first time. I was somewhat experienced but it was his first ever voyage on the seas. Shortly after leaving port, we get krakened. I thought, easy enough, just shoot his tentacles. Well on my way to repair the ship and to hide from his ramen noodle slurpage, I get sucked up!!
I tried my best to get released, but couldn't, all the while our ship was taking on water. My boyfriend had no idea what to do. He didn't even have wood in his inventory lol
Suffice to say, we sunk pretty quick. Pretty awesome but sad first adventure with my babe, lol
If the kraken begins the animation in which it pulls you, you should prioritize shooting its open mouth to get it to let you go. I advise using a double barrel pistol for this. If you fall into the water, aim up as far as possible. The inky black water is impossible to see through, but you are going up.
Also, the kraken is frightening. Sea of Thieves is the best horror game I've ever played, because the ocean has many unknowns. It's frightening.
Oh, also the grab attack consists of two dips into the water to drown the player. It takes only two of these to drown a player. If your crew is quick enough, they can destroy the tentacle to free you.
i got kraken my first day ever playing, since i watched a few videos before playing i knew we were being attacked by a kraken because of the water turning pitch black, we ended up defeating it pretty easily
"dont shoot the wrapped tentacle" good luck getting below deck or to your cannons when the tentacles blocking the way. Oh, and he drags you down faster, any holes you have below deck? Will fill faster.
Or use the fishing pole to cancel the animation so you dont get pulled off the boat.
It’s also easier to try and aim your sales in the way of the wind to get out of it although it is hard when it tries to suck you up and hits your boat
Yesterday I just wanted to do some solo action and instand got a Kranken, then he hit my ship once pulled me away from my ship literally for a whole minute and my ship sank nice

When i found a kraken i would usually hide below deck and shoot at it with my flintlock but then i actually faught it with canons and it was surprisingly really easy
Within my first hour of playing (forever ago) legitimately i killed I think horatio and fought a meg. Shoutout to the random lady I encountered that helped me with both and showed me the ropes
Long time player here I don’t feel like I struggle with the kraken very much I just got out of the oil lol it’s kinda small!? I feel like what they need to do is make it slow radius with the oil or ink bigger, but make the slow less would make fighting it more enjoyable, but also feel more difficult/longer to get out
I survived my first kraken by keep sailing the sloop and keep repairing the damage as a solo player. I only shot a few shorts when it strangled the sloop

If it does grab you, chuck a fire bomb down at the tentacle holding you and it’ll drop you.

As a solo slooper I was surprised how easy it was the first time I got attacked by one
I just fought a skelly ship and a megladon at the same time so i ran out of resources, 2 minutes later i faced a kraken for the first time and i didn't expect him to be this easy i was ready to get sunk and lose my loot lol
When the kraken slaps the ship jump and when the kraken wraps around the ship shoot the open mouth and when the kraken sounds like eating ramen noodles go to the bottom deck
I think not being able to repair my ship would be the least of my problems when im in the mouth of a kraken

for those who want to find it, just wait at the shores of gold for an hour (in game time) and that would force it to spawn an encounter, so it could be anything like theShrouded Ghost

If you do get sucked up, make sure to have a blunderbuss, you can shoot the inside of its mouth, and itll drop you, letting you swim back. Its better than letting it kill you. Im pretty sure any gun will work, as long as you have an angle. I guess your friend could also save you.

Iv returned to SOT in the past 2 months after not playing since launch. Iv not had the Kraken spawn on me once. Only time iv seen it was a Brig was chasing me as a solo sloop and the Brig had it spawn on them.
Iv had about 30 megs and 15 skelly crews spawn on me in that time tho.
Yknow when sea of theives started the kracken was the scary thing the draw that kept you on your feet and now it’s out matched and way to easy for a massive beast of ocean far and wide

when it's sucking up use your fishing rod in water it apparently stops the kraken from sucking you up for some reason
They need to do a summon the kraken like the Shanti summon the megalodon thats brings the megalodon to you and if there was summln the kraken then it spawns
summon the megalodon doesn't actually sumon a megaladon...
being able to summon a meg or kracken at any time would be broken
If you get grabbed if you look all the way down there’s opportunities to shoot part of the tentacle with your gun and it’ll drop you
If you throw a blunderbomb at it when it sucks you it will let go

Killed a kraken the other day on a solo sloop with less than 10 cannonballs. Takes 2 hits per tentacle to knock one down
I got krakened yesterday and it stopped my ship and attacked for like 2 mins before I started sailing away while it was still there
Is it me ... but ive ALWAYS defeated the kraken when ever it strikes, im Fairly new and a solo slooper btw.
i just shoot the tenticals in front the cannon.
Tips about megalodon plz
If it goes for a bite and it’s coming for one of your cannons you have a small window of opportunity to cancel the bite by quickly hitting it with two cannon shots back to back. If they both hit he’ll dive under your ship without taking a chunk of it. Megs are a cakewalk even on a sloop if you keep this in mind

Here's another tip; just get out of the black water, it's not worth fighting it as it drops maybe 4 pieces of kraken meat and if you're lucky a random shit loot item.

if you hear the Vacuu-Suck 9000 and you have a gunpowder barrel, its a really fun way to deal a bit of damage

The day I started playing sea of thieves i went afk and came back to my ship being attacked by a kraken and i was freaking out and I panicked and I shot all the tentacles and everything and I ended up winning I was scared shitless

The first time I came across the kraken it was so easy I killed it in like 2 minutes it just straight up stood there and only hit my boat once
What I do for the wrap is use a double barrel full charge it one shots
That weapon didn't exist when this video was made.
Also, you can only use the charge shot 3 times before having to reload on ammo.
And the reload time is very slow. A sniper is better. Does almost the same amount of damage. You get 5 shots instead of 3. And if it isn't, you can quickly switch to a sword or dagger to finish it off
Also...the tentacles have more than 80 health. maybe on a sloop? Idk. But you can't one hit a tentacle with a simple weapon like that. Takes me several sniper hits to get rid of one
If it wraps around near the cannons you can hit it with the cannon

Yea sloop krakens are a joke. So are megs, my brother killed the shrouded ghost a few days ago. I am VERY jealous that he got that lucky
Black sea means: the kraken is coming
Red sea means: you're close to the edge of the map
Blue sea means: nothing you're stil in the map and no kraken
Another great channel for sea of thieves content is "Jumbo G".
Tip 4:if you see the sea getting black run
you dont get pulled away from your ship too when you at your cannons

I somehow survived my first Kraken attack by myself. Apparently, it's difficulty is dependent on the amount of players in server, size of crew and ship, or both from what i was told. I dunno if its true.
has nothing to do with how many people or ships are on a server.
The difficult only gets impacted by what type of ship it spawns on. sloop, Brig, Galleon.
