I'm grinding hunter's call now. I selled 78 fishes and some meat and i gain like a third of the xp bar to level 39. Selling gems is the way but sad that fishing has a lot of varietys and its so hard to level up by selling them
A quick tip to you, Cliff, or anyone that else for that matter: Whenever you have this smoke/dirt effect on your screen like at 7:43 you're about to be sucked up by the Kraken. Just go below deck until it disappears again and you're good.
Personally I absolutely despise having to defeat the Karen's of the seas, but the energy this channel gives me can inspire me to do practically anything, so thanks so much for the pick-me-up Cliff! I can't say how grateful I am for all your hard work and my wish is to perhaps come across your crew on the seas one day
i kid you not, for four days in a row i spawned at galleons grave, and every time, every time, and i counted, through my footage, 36 seconds after i dropped my sails and went west, a kraken spawned on me, 4 times in a row, 4 days straight

I wonder if this is actually a thing or just a HUGE coincidence. Either way, it's insanely annoying whenever I'm just trying to do peaceful merchant alliance voyages and I get interrupted by Karen, screaming at me to stop and go do some PVE

On the topic of new ships: I believe a way the devs could implement new ships without drastically changing the game is adding variants to each ship. For example the brig, they can bring in a 3 manned ‘Junk’ that has bow and stern cannons instead of broadside and is fastest in cross winds. Or maybe for the sloop they can add another 2 man ship the ‘flute’, which on spawn has barrels that are stocked with supplies, it isn’t particularly the fastest in any category but it has gunpowder barrels/fire barrels that can be thrown off the back to deter chasers
Uuuh, I think adding any ship with front and/or rear facing cannons would drastically change the game. Not saying its not an interesting idea. I just disagree with the "without drastically changing the game" point.
I downloaded this game, captiened a ship, reaper five came along an sank it my two random crew mates on my brig left and i was taken as a slave and was only fed bananas 10/10
Ohhh mann, we did the kraken 2 days ago with a brig. It was hell. On halfway we managed to glitch out from the black water and we had to go back to the tentacles and we were low on cannonballs + wood. We somehow killed that animal and barely got any loot because of the glitch. Still I m happy that I and the crew ate some of that kraken meat while the ship had 2 holes left on the way to an outpost bc we had no wood. Im new to the channel and played the game for like 2-3 weeks and I love it when you post ! Keep it up

Already know this is my favorite video Found 1 kraken so far and it seems like the best place for kraken finding is between the ancient isles and the ashen area, theres barely any rocks/islands closely packed together there. Also, not sure if getting kraken hunter commendation gives a title or not
Birdie was shooting for the Legendary Kraken Hunter commendation awarding that title. I found out later that this Kraken kill SHOULD'VE counted towards that, even though it didn't spawn on us, but for some reason it just.. Didn't

I was watching your other video on the golden sands, and decided to do the reaper quest to see what it was like. And after blowing up the row boat I had to head back to the reapers hide out to finish it- and gotten krakened XD It always happens at the worst times and I was solo slooping so- Sadly, I didnt fight it since I didnt have enough supplies and had to sail out of it's zone.

So I have an explanation for why Karen was so tanky: When a kraken spawns, it has a set amount of tentacles needed to be slain per ship size. 2-3 for a sloop, 5-6 for a brig, and 7-8 with a galleon. Krakens also have a sort of health/durability scaling for what ship it's taking damage from, sloops having the highest amount of durability due to only needing to kill 2 or 3 tentacles meaning the tentacles take less damage from sloops. Why does all this matter? Well, you were fighting a brigantine kraken, meaning you had to fight 5 or 6 tentacles to kill it, and it didn't take as much damage because you were a sloop. This means you had to kill twice as many tentacles, and they took a lot more damage from you to defeat.
if u use cheats you can see that every kraken spawns with with 8 when its brig or gall dk bout sloop but its 8 for brig. not cheating btw just watch certain people who do -_-
Killing the Kraken when it spawns on another crew still counts for the commendation, as my first win against it was with another crew a few island away from me. The reason you did get the commendation is the same as what happened to me once. Since it scales of off your ship size, stronger Kraken take longer to defeat. On a sloop, it would be difficult to defeat a stronger Kraken within the time limit. I can relate to your pain as I also have 9/10 on the commendation, but also had one respawn on me :(
@@CliffTheStoryGuy Well I assume so at least. I know there's a time when no one participates in the fight, but I think there may be just a general timer from when it spawns. Explains why when (in the video) it despawned on you, as you had some travel time, and many distractions throughout the fight.

Thats quite funny, because I had started sailing 20 min into spawning on a new server; a kraken spawned and I panicked thinking I somehow ended up off the map into dark seas? nope, just Kraken's hating solo sloops!

I really feel your pain having no luck the first 3 days of kraken hunting I did. The fact of the matter is the moment the world event is done, you must head to open waters. Keep the key on hand and come back once you've calmed Karen down.
I love how you keep equating "Out dated" with "easy" but yet, both times you've said that about the Skull Forts, they've proven way more difficult than you were thinking they'd be. XD
0:30 The Kraken is NOT a random spawn (/emergent encounter), it IS a world event, hence why it only spawns when no other event ist active. The Megalodon Spawn rate should not be influened by world events, same for Skeleton Ships. which is also why skeletons, Megalodons and Krakens can spawn at the same player ship while another one is still fighting the players. Also, no, Sunken ships don't count as world events
Man i would love to sail with you guys just to practice my PvP XD. SO i just wanna highlight some things i love about your channel 1. Your not toxic. Lets be real theres a lot of toxic PvP players. Or even just Assholes. But you arent. The best comparison i can make is that your one of those honorable dark souls invaders that (after bowing to the host) doesnt heal mid fight because u actually have honor. 2. You acknowledge when the game fails. I feel like a lot of people love to either simp massively for games refusing to acknowledge flaws, or totally shit on games for seemingly no reason. You like this game and love playing it, but are not afraid to call it out when the game pulls some BS. It kinda emulates my own love/hate relationship with this game XD. 3. I feel like this one is the most obvious, but the way you tell stories in these videos is fantastic. It is very reminiscent of a pirate sharing their adventures in the tavern. I also know how much work it must be to edit 4 hours into 10 minutes. Keep up the good work. Your my favorite SoT youtuber. 👍
i still remember my first kraken. joined friends on their "flameheart farm" as reapers in galleon. with another x-box galleon that kept dying to us and a sloop that just was way more skilled than us that actually scared us. but when we wend to sell we got a kraken that we were able to "endure" and also trap that reaper-hunting sloop that actually scared us with its skill in the kraken. laughs where had.

My bro and i had to defend a fort of Fortune against 3 different Crews, as Reapers. I know there are the reapers bones, the runners bones, but today we were defenders bones.
To explain a bit on the Kraken part (This might change in season 9, idk); The Kraken basically is an 'intermission' event inbetween world events. It never spawns during a world-event, and a world event doesn't spawn until the kraken is defeated or when it despawns. When a world event ends, after about X minutes any random ship on the server gets krakenend. If all ships were too close to an island, then the kraken is skipped and the next world event starts.
actually the kraken defeat is if you kill all the arms. there is a set amount of arms that spawn, and if you kill all of them BEFORE the kraken retreats, THEN you get the kill.

you can also cast a fishing line into the water apparently and it'll just stop apparently (only heard about it but never tested it myself)

At 1:38, you can get the boss to reset (health stays the same) and go back to the center if everyone in the crew dies at the same time

Last time I summoned a kraken, I was in a trio with my friends, we had a chicken in a cage. Not even 5 seconds after killing it, a kraken appeared.

Man i would love to sail with you guys just to practice my PvP XD. SO i just wanna highlight some things i love about your channel
1. Your not toxic. Lets be real theres a lot of toxic PvP players. Or even just Assholes. But you arent. The best comparison i can make is that your one of those honorable dark souls invaders that (after bowing to the host) doesnt heal mid fight because u actually have honor.
2. You acknowledge when the game fails. I feel like a lot of people love to either simp massively for games refusing to acknowledge flaws, or totally shit on games for seemingly no reason. You like this game and love playing it, but are not afraid to call it out when the game pulls some BS. It kinda emulates my own love/hate relationship with this game XD.
3. I feel like this one is the most obvious, but the way you tell stories in these videos is fantastic. It is very reminiscent of a pirate sharing their adventures in the tavern. I also know how much work it must be to edit 4 hours into 10 minutes.

i still remember my first kraken.
joined friends on their "flameheart farm" as reapers in galleon. with another x-box galleon that kept dying to us and a sloop that just was way more skilled than us that actually scared us. but when we wend to sell we got a kraken that we were able to "endure" and also trap that reaper-hunting sloop that actually scared us with its skill in the kraken.

A lot of the curse grinds are extremely repetitive so I usually stay away from them (except the ashen curse which takes like 45 minutes)

My bro and i had to defend a fort of Fortune against 3 different Crews, as Reapers. I know there are the reapers bones, the runners bones, but today we were defenders bones.

To explain a bit on the Kraken part (This might change in season 9, idk);
The Kraken basically is an 'intermission' event inbetween world events. It never spawns during a world-event, and a world event doesn't spawn until the kraken is defeated or when it despawns. When a world event ends, after about X minutes any random ship on the server gets krakenend. If all ships were too close to an island, then the kraken is skipped and the next world event starts.

actually the kraken defeat is if you kill all the arms. there is a set amount of arms that spawn, and if you kill all of them BEFORE the kraken retreats, THEN you get the kill.
I didn't know the Kraken retreats at all I thought it just keeps going until you kill it......

Just to clarify, there was a world event. The Reaper's chest and Reaper's bounty chest both count as world events. However, a shipwreck doesn't.
