I've found a really useful tool for taking down an unmanned blade is using scattershot while shooting top deck skellys with standard cannons. The skellies seem to prioritize offense, meaning while they scramble for the cannons, loading the hull full on many low tier holes is able to flood the lower decks relatively quickly
I haven't really found a problem with an unmanned blade, it's basically a weaker skelly galleon since it likes using the non-damaging flamethrower over the cannons. A manned blade however...
10:04 It's almost perfect how they left evidence of the knife. And it being guardians, the enemy of Flameheart, is the cherry on top. If it wasn't left in such a random spot, I would have thought they left it on purpose.
I was solo slooping reapers when I spotted a fort of fortune that I really needed to get to level 50 of reapers emissary, and as soon as I completed it, the burning blade spawned by the fort and so I use the Athena kegs to blow it up, but by then the burning blade had already done enough damage to my ship and it sunk and to make matters worse, other players were right there, ready to attack, so I had no other option to solo crew the burning blade and I defeated the players (a galleon and brig). It’s like Cliff says, sometimes you can get into journeys that are so unexpected and take you on such thrilling rides.
Finding the Athena Emissary throwing knife was something straight out of a movie. Then making it your objective to hunt that same Athena stealing your camps was awesome. Felt like I really was watching a pirate movie!

My experience with Sea of Thieves, Burning Blade Ship and Chest of Fortune so far: TLDR: A new player 5 days into the game gets 4 Chests of Fortune in 2 days. Bought and installed the game 5 days ago. Had some fun island hopping, met some cool dudes who gave me some good tips and took me on some good voyages to make some good gold. Bought my own sloop. Story 1: Yesterday, log on and hop on my ship. A dude joins my crew who's a hardcore old-time player. He sees a Brig on the map and suggests we go harass it. As we go to it at a Fort, there's another Sloop that pulls up. Instead of attacking, we make friends and forge an alliance between our three ships. The old-timer shares some good tips, helps us get some commendations, we all have a great time. Then the old-timer leads us to a fort map and shows us a Burning Blade that's already got someone crewing it. We all board our ships and give chase. Two sloops and a brig coming after one Burning Blade, with the Old-timer leading the charge. They gave us a tough fight (and my game crashed once, but I managed to rejoin in time), and eventually we manage to sink it. The old-timer negotiates it so that we get both the Chest of Fortune, and the Blade of Souls, and everyone else gets to split the rest of the treasure. By the end of it, basically the whole server's pulled up and we're all chilling, making friends and having fun at the outpost. A skelly ship shows up and gets obliterated in no time flat, we're all enjoying the time. Story 2: Today, I boot up the game and another old-timer experienced player shows up. Suggests we go hunting for a Burning Blade ship to command it. We server-hop to find an unclaimed one. The experienced player basically takes all the combat role, I'm just trying to keep the ship afloat and on course. Again, it was a tough battle, but the player basically carried me and we claimed the ship. Unfortunately, he had to leave right after, so I got myself a BB all to myself. I decide that I alone can't really do much in terms of rituals, so I just go to sell all the treasure from it, including a Chest of Fortune, and go messing about. Some players attack me, I try to steer it so the skellies can get a shot back, and hide in a barrel when they board, kinda just messing around. They eventually sink the ship, I board theirs, play them a shanty, all's good and well. Story 3: New server, and I'm alone, stocking up at an outpost. Suddenly I see on the map there's an unclaimed Burning Blade right there passing by the outpost. I recall a tip the old-timer from story 1 gave me, that you can just hop on, steal the Chest of Fortune, and dip. So I set sail, ram into the BB, hop over, run over to the hold, grab it and book it. They sunk my ship, but it was close to an outpost so I just swam over. In the meantime, another crew decided to claim it. As I get to the outpost, literally as I'm at the dock about to grab onto the ladder, I GET KILLED BY A SHARK I respawn on my ship at a nearby island and head back over to the outpost. I had little hopes, but as I get back, I find the Chest of Fortune sitting right there at the bottom waiting for me. Story 4 New server yet again, and this time I'm with a guy that's not as experienced. We decided to give it a crack anyway and try to take over a BB. In the middle of the battle, as we take damage and try to get away from it to patch up, the "Burning Blade Defeated" sign shows up. We didn't see another ship so we were confused what was going on. We two noobs couldn't put 2 and 2 together, even when it said "Crewed by Pirates of the Flame" we didn't realize what it meant. So we keep attacking it, and another player joins us, saying his ship sunk (yeah, even then we couldn't put 2 and 2 together). He pretended he was helping us, but eventually he turned out to be a saboteur and killed us as his crew sunk our ship. We server hop, and I say "Now we do it my way". We secure a harpoon rowboat, and we find another BB. The plan is to get it to chase us, and use the rowboat to get on it and then to get away, so that the sharks won't be such a problem. We aggro it, and as it attacks I unfortunately get knocked off the ship without the rowboat. I improv and get on the BB. They manage to sink my ship, but my buddy secured the rowboat and latches on the BB with the harpoon. I get in, grab the Chest of Fortune, and skidaddle like there's no tomorrow. I get out with a sliver of health left, and my buddy picks me up onto the rowboat. He goes to respawn with the ship, I row to the nearest outpost. So yeah... Sorry for the long read, but even as a complete freshman to the game, I have so far enjoyed every minute of it. And the way I found out about the game was through Cliff The Story Guy's channel, so THANK YOU!!!

Personally, I'd love to see a frozen region. With that increase of map size, having a new ship with a larger crew could work very well.
I still caught this in the first 24 hours, looking forward to another tale
When i saw the whole team go into the skeleton camp right before u gun powdered kegd them i was thinking "wow they all just went down?? my trust issues could never id need someone watchin the ship" LOL

Finally the story teller is back with another story.🗿🗿🗿🔥🔥🔥🗣🗣
Now I can't wait to see the chaos that is them playing Ark
Nice vid i always knew you could not resist the burning blade for long
CLIFF: "sees burnig blade chase a sloop" Why are you chasing a sloop
CLIFF later in the video: prossedes to chase a sloop
You should do this with your PvP friends I think that would be a powerhouse
