- We are back in Run 8 Train Simulator and we're exploring the NEW Baldwin DLC from Hyrail Simulations. In today's vid we'll be taking an empty autorack train from Baldwin yard, up the Callahan sub, then onto the Nahunta sub, finally ending just north of Folkston!

I drive past Baldwin every day on the way to work and back, there will be a week where there’s a few tracks being used and the rest are empty. Then business picks up and it gets full again. There isn’t many that go south from Baldwin, they build some pretty extensive trains out of it too. Seeing the game version vs seeing IRL is sweet, they got it pretty spot on. Waiting for them to add the S Line expansion if they will
Haven't watched you since may, great to hear u again :)
Thanks friend! I really appreciate that!
I want to understand railway operations better for my Run8 enjoyment, so your videos are helping me in that regard. Thanks! When a crew runs from yard to yard, are they put up in a hotel and then operate another train headed back to their home yard the next day or so, or are they shuttled back home in rental cars etc.?
Thanks for the question! So basically, you would have a home terminal, that is where you were based out of. Then you would have an away terminal and that is where you would run to. Some home terminals would have multiple away terminals, like mine had 3 different away terminals since we had 3 different lines coming out of our home terminal. So typically, what would happen is you would go on duty at your home terminal, run to the away terminal then rest. I usually claimed 10 hours undisturbed rest. Once rested a few things could happen. You could take a train from your away terminal back to your home terminal or if there wasn't a train running back or if there was a crew imbalance, they would deadhead you back to your home terminal. A deadhead for us, back then consisted of riding in a van that was provided and driven by a contract company called PTI. Sometimes you would ride in just a regular, run of the mill taxi service.
Cool, that does make sense, thanks! I've only been playing Run8 for about 3 or 4 months and have sort of selected Baldwin as my home terminal, so realistically speaking I might go to Jacksonville or Waycross? I suppose with Run 8, we don't have to care about absolute realism, so we can drive down to Taft from Baldwin or even run the entire Fitzgerald and A-Line in one setting LOL 😅 I'm guilty of that and do not feel bad about it, but sometimes it is really fun to try and mimick real-world operations. I look forward to watching more of your videos!
