  • There are different ways to breathe during sex.
    Sometimes a deeper and/or more fast-paced breath is natural and fitting during sex.
    But more effortful breath can also make it harder to relax, which can make it harder to keep an erection or last longer.
    So I recommend practicing a calming, slow breath to activate the parasympathetic nervous system - that "rest and digest" part of us that is associated with pleasure, curiosity, play, and relaxation.
    Ejaculation is associated with the sympathetic nervous system.
    This is the "fight or flight" system that is more associated with danger and protection.
    So the more we can be in the parasympathetic nervous system, the better.
    Mix and match this calming breath with the 3-Part Breath and other more fast-paced breathing styles.
    This will help you become more flexible in your breathing.
    And becoming more flexible will help you to feel more pleasure and last longer.
    Try this exercise to build in a more relaxed, effortless pattern of breathing for sex and self-pleasure.
