Hi Tristan, hopefully we get to catch up and I can show you but for the browns I find a fairly large rubber legged stonefly pattern works well when sight fishing or this time of year a big dry fly like a cicada. When fishing the pools blindly any nymphs like pheasant tails and hare and coppers work with a bead size relevant for the depth of the water, either under an indicator or as a dropper under a big dry. The river has a lot of flow and is more swift than many realize so make sure you are getting down, 3, 3.5 and even 4mm tungsten beads are often needed.

Amazingly beautiful environment and fish. Paradise for trout fishermen.
Couldn't agree more!
Nice one Johan. Well done for showing the fish you are trying to or did catch, certainly makes it more invigerating. Almost like being there.
Thanks mate. Need to take you along on one of these. There is one spot you will love.
Good to see another south African fishing rotorua. Try the uhtahina by the stadium that's my spot to catch fish
Thanks, I have looked at it so many times on maps and never been. Will have to fit it in on my next trip to have a look.
What flies do you use on this river?

Sick video bro! Hey where did you get the subscribe gif from?
I do video production for work so I have a motion array account. I get my titles etc from there as well. Just saves a lot of time.
You’re gonna need a bigger net dude! Great video 👍🏻
Haha thanks, I certainly hope so.

I'll know for next time
