- At the top of the Golden Gate Bridge, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that travel spending in California reached an all-time high of $150.4 billion last year, surpassing the record $144.9 billion spent in 2019. This comes after the state retained its title as the world’s 5th largest economy and had a population increase, both of which are directly tied to California’s nation-leading tourism and entertainment industries.

Born and raised there. After 45 years, I was finally able to get out of that nightmare. Every year, that state got worse and worse. After my daughter graduates this year, I am never going back to the he|| hole again. Someone related California to a super model with secrets and I could not agree more. Like a Monet, from far away it's beautiful, but when you get up close it is just a jumbled mess. I used to say the majority of people that want to live in CA never lived there or never been there, which is totally true. California is the state that the other states look to -- to see what NOT to do! Gov Nuisance just helps further drive that state in to the slums. So sad.

I fled California years ago because I could see what was happening. San Francisco used to be my favorite city. I loved driving around the city and over the Golden Gate bridge up to Saint Helena in the Napa Valley to visit my sister and brother-in-law. I would not even go there now. If you paid me, I would not drive through the city nor drive over the bridge that I once felt such joy crossing.the far left has ruined everything. Every blue city has turned to crap. Such a sad day for such a beautiful state.
People are leaving Florida too. Healthcare, and Too many Old people. Conservatives destroy education and gaslight kids minds.

This guy is amazing. How he twists numbers around. We have a 19% inflation rate. People are not moving back here. They are still moving out of here. I know quite a few moving and have moved. Gas is $5.41 today here. Now they want to tax us even more for the homeless people. They spent 30 billion on that already. Enough already. You are not going to fix that no matter how much money you take from the poor. You have lots of folks making big money on this whole homeless thing. It's a big business. They could have bought a home for every homeless person already. This guy is a flim flan man to say the very least.

California is beautiful with its natural beauty, but I won’t visit again with crime, homelessness, sky high prices, crazy people, etc. Don’t forget the businesses closing or moving out.
Just as many are moving in, also homelessness is relegated to specific neighborhoods, not tourist destinations, and there's crime everywhere, as a California native my entire 30 years of life I've never been a victim of it but you can stay in your little propaganda echo chamber.

By the way, why are you boasting about tourism instead of condemning it? Tourism is a large contributor to climate change and you should be telling tourists to stay away from your state at all costs. According to US Government climate cultists, tourism is responsible for roughly 8% of the world's carbon emissions, so if you believe in your climate cult nonsense, then start condemning tourism and close down the California Office of Tourism.
Quit spending money we don't have on illegals and make California natives your top priority. As a senior on a limited budget I no longer have any money for entertainment like I used to. Some weeks its a choice between food or gas. I'm using 40% less electricity but paying 40% more. Do us all a favor and RESIGN.

150 billion . Example last year in ca a big mac combo at mcd was 10$ this year 17$ . One tourist expenditure is inflated for the same good and service YoY.

I’ve been in San Diego and it and CA are paradise to me. No need to vacation elsewhere, so, lots of money saved by vacationing here.
I want CA lawmakers to tax the sales of processed foods and to give benefits out for the sales of produce. Processed foods are sometimes loaded with unhealthy additives and corporations are getting away duping us into buying them, we want conscious shopping and more healthier options.

Beautiful scenery, hot weather, beautuful beaches, lots of amentities. Screw Flordia with their tourism, California has better amentities. Same with Hawaii.

As someone who lived in California and now lives in Florida, it is my opinion that CA is superior. I also travelled throughout CA for many years. I always thought it was the most beautiful state in the U.S. I disagree that CA has hot weather though, unless something has changed. FL is notorious for that: extreme heat and humidity. San Diego was always known as having the most perfect weather in the country. I won't get into other factors of FL/CA here. Miss CA and much respect to Gov. Newsom.

@@gabrielspianohouse6583I loved it. My only regret is not staying. I lived in Orange County and was there due to the aerospace industry. I'm originally from the East Coast. I had already visited the state SO many times before that and traveled nearly all of it, mostly by car, and not just along the coast but far east into the valley, desert, etc. It is all gorgeous, but in my humble opinion, I thought Central and Northern CA was the most beautiful at that time.
