    The zig clean colors are water based. They're almost like a watercolor. Kuretake, the company that makes the pen, actually suggests using water to blend the colors and give a more "watercolor effect" :D

    Just saying the zig brush is a colouring tool and it is water reactive so that's why it smeared:)

    18:20 i used a copic liner to outline a water color piece on watercolor paper and let it dry for about three days and it still picked up loose ink when i was treating the paper. just a heads up for anyone planning on using watercolors with copic liners!

    I have the faber-castell PITT brush pen and the Pigma brush pen, and I find that my faber-castell pen's nib really worn down after just a few weeks of using it and that it no longer had a pointy tip. Wouldn't recommend it.

      +AddictedToArt The faber castell nib is double sided. You can take a piece of paper towel and pull it out and use the other side! They also make big brush pens and I use those to do large fill which is less stressful on the smaller pen's nib.

    if you want to avoid those broken lines, squeeze on the barrel of the pen a bit (the black part that houses the ink) so you get a deeper colour and better coverage

    Have you ever tried the Kuretake Fudegokochi ? I discovered it thanks to Will Terrell and I fell in love with it. it's a brush so you can play with the nib but it's stiffer than a pentel brush (which I own too but I find it a little bit too flexible...)
    Thanks a lot for the test, it's really helpful ! I had troubles of smudging using copic with faber castel pitt brush, and I wondered what I could use that doesn't bleed...
    So thanks again !

  • @QueenWaspGo
    @QueenWaspGo 8 років тому

    I haven't needed to replace my copic sp brush pen nib, but I've destroyed a lot of the pigma ones. I think the tips are actually similar because they're made of felt. I don't use my copic brush pen on toothy paper or the rough side of bristol, but I will with the pigma. Also with the pentel color brush you need to store it cap side down and you can actually squeeze the reservoir to get more ink out, but be careful because it stains fabric really bad.

    I have one of those super big brush pens, I believe they are more often used for shadow lines in manga work and less for the bulk work of lining but I agree they feel so dry sometimes and it's hard to get enough ink on the tip to work with. Still pretty neat though. Also I have also really loved the faber castell brand so I might pick up some of their liners since I know where to get them locally at least!

    • @JellieBee
      @JellieBee  9 років тому

      Torotix Yeah I was wondering if it was just me or my pen, but it would definitely be better for colouring with rather than inking. I was really hoping it would be a similar pen to the Pentel Brush Pen but with coloured ink ;n;

  • @firecloud6503

    Just one thing about the pentel brush, it works exactly as the one you like ( the black one) but because you are using it a few times you have press too much the ink, that's what happened to me, but then its just amazing .
    Btw I like this vid :)

    • @vimarioly5763
      @vimarioly5763 9 років тому

      ***** I mean that the first time you use it you have to press the ink in order for it to work properly, but then you don´t need to press it often because you´ll overcharged the ink and the thin part will be thicker. I hope you understand me and hope it is useful.

    I almost took the Pentel color brush back to the store yesterday, but then I found a commenter who pointed out that in Japan, things screw on and off in the opposite direction from the U.S. So instead of "righty-tighty, lefty-loosey," it was the other way. And I finally got the red band off and got it started.

  • @JessieSketches

    I do already buy pretty much all my pens though Cultpens already. They have fast delivery rates. Normally I get my stuff within 2 business days at the latest. I have never had a problem ordering though them. I am in love with the Pentel Brush Pen. First I brought the Copic brush...I tried to get on with it but it just very nice to use. Then I brought the Pentel and it was amazing. It was a lot better then the Copic. I have gone though about 2 refills on it already... I do most of my sketches in it at the moment. It just a lot of fun and you can get some really good washes with it. I do write a lot Japanese in my classes and the Pilot Petit Fude Brush Pen is a really good one to write with. Don't worry about your Japanese at all. 良い一日を

      The Petit are sooo cute ♥
      Yeah Cult Pens are always so fast! This time I got free pencils and sweets with my order :0

      Jellie Beeそれを思い悩んだって無駄だよ. No use worrying about your Japanese! It does take years to become fluent and its not horrible at the moment. Keep up the hard work! 頑張って.

    can i use acrylic paint on a refillable brush pen?

    • @JellieBee
      @JellieBee  8 років тому

      Probably not as you need a super thin liquid to go through the pen itself. Even some inks wont go through a brush pen nib.

    You should try the kuretake the ones with actual brushes are the #8 #13 #40 and #50 the 40 and 50 have sable hair bristles and the 8 and 3 have synthetic fibers. I just ordered a pentel pocket brush pen and a Kuretake #8 can't wait to try them. One review I read said the #8 is like the #13 just without as sturdy of build but its a lot cheaper. I also heard the Sailor brush pen is pretty decent. Jetpens.com is great for all kind of items you can get some of these on Dickblick.com also.

    The only thing bothering me with your Japanese is that you don't start with the horizontal strokes, otherwise you have really good penmanship.

    I'm a beginner artist who really wants a nice brush pen, but I don't want one that will bleed through the paper too much. Can anyone recommend one that at least doesn't have an awful bleed?

    it may sound stupid but why dont you try a real brush with Indian inks if you want to try different colours. i no its not as convenient as pens but you get the effects you want and you can get waterproof inks. many comic artists use brushes rather than pens.

    • @JellieBee
      @JellieBee  9 років тому +1

      hoshikou I find brush pens far more convenient! I do my commissions at conventions in these pens and it'd be really annoying to get out bottles of ink :) As I'm more illustrative than comic, I don't need to use them constantly, so the cost of refills isn't an issue, and the convenience far outweighs anything.
