Yana Zakharyants For us, people posted on fb/insta that they started a group chat, I gave them my number and I was entered into the chat! Perhaps you could be the one to start one if no one’s done it?
My application got deferred to Regular Decision and I'll hear from them in March now. Anyone knows what that exactly means? Does that by any means reduce my chances of getting in?
Subika Haider I am not an expert at this but as per my understanding that shouldn’t affect your chances of getting accepted. EA is quite selective, so if you didn’t get in, they’ll take another look at your application with the RD applications.
Ailish Hey! I think as an international applicant it was nice to arrive a day early to meet people :) Also I think if you were to come one day early anytime before 7pm would probably be good👍🏼
Hey I have a doubt about yygs Can I apply to it if I will be graduating high school a month before the program Is it compulsory that I should be continuing high school at the time of attending yygs
Thanks so much for this video, it was really helpful! How good need the academic qualifications to be?And did most people do crazy extracurrical activities like research or having a startup etc. or is it possible to get no in as someone normal? And do you think as someone with a 4.0 GPA but not that expressive extracurricular activities it's possible to get a full scholarship? So sorry for all those questions I'm just panicking a little haha
Sarah Stone I must’ve missed this question somehow! Sorry for the mega late answer!! I think there were definitely some insanely accomplished people who had worked with professors, started charities etc. but I also met a bunch of “normal” but super passionate and smart students. Their financial aid is need based so if they want to accept you they will give you the aid, it’s not given to the most academically accomplished. GPA is a good indicator of academic diligence but it isn’t the only factor. I hope this helped and sorry again for being so late!
I’m thinking of applying for YYGS 2021. But I’m super nervous considering the corona situation if we’d be able to be on campus and whether I’d even get in lol.
apply babe!! i applied for 2020 and DID NOT expect to get accepted at all (my application suuuucked) but i did somehow! applying again cause corona though lmao
you covered so much, I'm so thankful I just found your channel 😂 I'd like to ask a question: how expensive were the restaurants on campus? like, how much money did you take with you? I'm not sure whether I need a lot or just a lil bit now 💕💕
Gabriella M I think it really depends on how much you eat out. I would say a typical meal is around $10, but you should also factor in coffees/drinks, ice cream and desserts etc. Also Yale merch tends to be around $40 for a hoodie I think, so save money for that if you want to get some stuff!
Thank you for your video. The info is very helpful. It gives a different perspective than the info avail on the YYGS official website. BTW, was it difficult to get in? What does it take to get into the program? I'm thinking for applying for summer 2020.
Yeah me too I'm from India and I don't know if anyone has been there from India but I would certainly do anything to go this program but I don't know what to do?
Anushka Dhar Hi! Sorry for the late response. My year it was a 20-25% acceptance rate but I’m not sure how competitive it will be this year. There are probably more people applying as the program gets more competitive, but also more spots because they made new sections.
Israe_ych hi! when i went to yygs two years ago we did not get to leave campus to different cities unless we had permission from family! but other ppl who went in 2019 can chip in if anything has changed!
