MTB Derbyshire: Hayfield Three Peaks

- Cracking ride around Hayfield with Marc and Paul, highlighting the amazing trails around this area of the Peak District.
Starting in Hayfield we went up the mega steep zig zag climb up above Kinder Rerservoir and onto the Shooting cabins descent. This is a fairly chilled descent but with the heather out, a really fun and beautiful one.
After this the ride took us over towards Lantern Pike where we performed a large circle taking in the fast and rocky run down into Rowarth and returning via a short moorland stretch. Here we chatted with a couple of people on e-bikes exploring the trails whilst staying in the area. You made the cut, sorry I didn't get your names, but say hi if you see yourself.
After this little sub-loop we rode down past Lantern Pike and all the way back towards Hayfield where we rode past the Sett Valley trail and out the other side on a long but fairly easy going road then farm trail climb up towards Chinley Churn, the third of the main peaks we rode up today.
The run down from this section was greeted with stunning views but also torrential rain and it made the descent a little on the tricky side as you see Marc unable to stop as he goes past me.
What followed was a short Komoot issue as we somehow managed to get into a place the was parallel to the main route, so a little off piste pushing was required #adventurecycling
The final drop into Hayfield was a mix of new and old. We managed to get up onto a really awesome section of trail that in places was pretty exposed. Of course it was along this section Marc decided to apply his now scientifically proven "curse" and make me crash. Luckily I avoided the edge. I would add that this section is tricky and best avoided if you are not too confident. I would also say that I realised afterwards that it is a footpath so again I would not recommend it. Next came Elle Bank another new trail to me, short and very sweet before the final and very well known to all, the campsite descent back into Hayfield.
Only about 17.5 miles this one but fair to say it had some brutal climbs. Really tough on the old bones, but plenty of smiles at the end. Top stuff!

Some new ones in there mate 🤣 Great loop, and you guys all smashed it on that first climb challenge. Thought Marc had it, then you passed him, but then Paul just put you both to shame!! Great effort still, as chuffing steep!
Marc strikes again, and off you pop once more, not the best of places for it either mate 🙈 Great video enjoyed that, and brought back some good memories from the ride we did 👍🏻
Yes loads of madness going off. Paul was a machine on that first climb....in fact all the way around. He'd be great on the descents too if he actually used his dropper (on going joke that one). That fall, hmmm the edge was at least 4 feet away so all good! Cheers mate! Be interested to know how much of this was the same as the route you did.
@@MTB_Derbyshire pretty much like for like by looks of it, recognised loads of that. Was it Shooting Cabins or something one of the descents, just after the bridge. Remember getting a nice pic on that bridge as well.
Yes Shooting Cabins descent was stunning with all the heather!@@ElectricMountainBiker
Great stuff mate, need to get out with you again in the peaks!
Absolutely mate. Cheers for the comment as always.
Yep I’ll be back shortly mate I will ❤
Yes mate! 💪
This was an ace day on the bikes, a bit of everything including the varied weather 🤣 makes for a fantastic and entertaining video, loved it 👍🏻
Proper day wasn't it! Cheers for the company and the comment 😎
Great video that, really enjoyed the ride, Marc was flying on the hard tail thanks for another epic day.
He makes it shift that's for sure. Great day, thanks for coming and showing us up on that first climb. No wonder you're not interested in an ebike 🤣
@@MTB_Derbyshire and it carries a curse to whoever it follows 🤣
Ace video mate, a proper day out for sure.
With regard to the doctor's advice about not getting mud in your eyes, watch this space as I may have just the product for you...
😂
This sounds amazing....I await this reveal with bated breath.
Great day this one with some half decent trails too....always a bonus! :)
My local trails, the major reason I moved here. Elle Bank is one of my favourite descents in the Peaks
Elke bank is great then again loads of that route was ace. Great move to the area......where did you move from... if I may be so bold?
