Today I was having a hard time rescribing raised panel lines on a Revell stuka junkers ju 87G, recently I purchased my Tamiya scriber 1 but I did not have idea about how to use it. But your tutorial was really great. Now I know how to work with it. Thanks so much!!
The Duct Tape over the Masking is a great 💡💯
very clever!!
Thank you
That's Label Maker tape.
Huge Like!!!
Thanks for the tutorial. Nice haircut btw.
Thats a great tip about using masking tape to get more life out of your scribing tape, thanks!
your welcome
Your content is great but the music is driving me up the wall. It is not necessary as well. Just say what you are doing and you won’t need music.
Very interesting video, thanks 4 share, I have another technique without lots of work and you achieve not the same results but the product you get si also nice, you don't have to get rid of the raised panel lines, the only tools you will need are non-reusable fountain pen and a steady hand and see..
I'm working on 2 original 1983 Monogram 1/72 B-1B bombers right now and am having difficulty with contoured panel lines on the main fuselage as the Dymo tape does not curve. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how you overcome that issue if you've run into it. Great tutorial btw!!! :)
Hey Tim,
thank you for your nice words. Well at this point you're right. The dymo tape will not curve very good. I'd take some electrical tape and put two stripes over eachother. That tape is more thick than masking tape and flexible, so you can bend it better in shape. Oh and good luck with your B1's ;)
Thank you for the video! How do you rescribe the super fine lines on the motor cover?
Thanks for sharing. You are wrong about trumpeter scriber though, works the best by pulling, not by pushing. Cheers!
so for "perfection" one is supposed to remove ALL raised lines ?
Where can I get that ductape? I only can find the regular grey ones.
Hey Tu Mama, I have to apologize. I said the wrong word in my video. I have to change it. I ment DYMO TAPE. Here is a link from Amazon if you need it. www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B07ZRFFG2X/ref=sr_1_19?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=9SBHHHVM2FHR&keywords=dymo+tape&qid=1642895299&sprefix=dymo+tape%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-19
Can I do this with a exacto knife?
no, you need a scriber
Isn't it better to do it before putting it together?
What about curved lines? Can you help?
There for I just use Tamiya's Curved Tape. It's probably not the best way to do it and as good as dymo tape but it works for me.
I make little vertical cuts with scissors along the length of the dymo tape so it is more flexible to follow the curved line
your vid is good but the music is really distracting
Sorry for the music
why not just scribe along the raised line, then sand the raised line off.
That's what I do.
Yep works too. Perfectly fine
you do realize recessed panel lines are as wrong as raised ones right? Plates are welded or riveted together there is no gap and no shadow, except where the 2 do not meet perfectly in some cases. This argument must stop now everyone is doing it wrong for the wrong reasons.
sure, but tell me which is easier to repair after sanding and filling? this is a good tutorial for those looking at building an older raised panel kit and wanting to repair details, so everyone but you may be wrong but that doesn't mean this info isn't useful.
Thank you Mr Jstone00 for your help!
True if putty is used to smooth the wing surface.
Raised panel lines do not accurately replicate the reality of modern airframe assembly.
feel free to build your models with perfectly smooth bodies 😂
