- The first in a series of video run downs of in demand Barbour jackets. In this episode I’ll be going through the Barbour Tokito Skyfall jacket and comparing it to the Barbour Lutz.

I got the Beacon jacket about 5 years ago, I prefer the jacket without the built in storm flap, it does come with a small triangle removable storm flap (which I keep in the top pocket for when needed), well done in getting it for £70 odd , what a find, as you say, they are rare and the price is set accordingly normally way passed the £600 mark
I think I got mine for £380 (with P+P), a very good jacket that I still wear in the winter months.
I have the Beacon Sports Jacket, bought it a birthday present to myself. Really nice and comfy jacket, I bet I can sleep in it. I use the back pocket to store a thin scarf. After two and a half years of use it developed a great patina in a way that only Barbours do. At 360 quid it wasn't cheap but the quality and joy of ownership made me forget that quickly. Great review.

Excellent review of this jacket. Best one out there in my opinion. I’ve searched on and off for several years for the To Ki To version and have never been willing to pay the premium. However, I just purchased the Beacon Sports Jacket for $315 from End during their recent sale. I couldn’t pass it up at that price. You have a gem there sir. I always like a deal and to rescue a piece. You did just that and it’s good and beaten in for you. It looks the part and you won’t have to fuss over it. I do wish the newer versions had the hood and wind flap. I much prefer the functionality and additional options they provide. And I bet the wool on the inside of the flap offers a little warmth as well. For now I’ll have to settle with the one I ordered. Can’t wait to receive it. Again, nice job on the review.
Just bought myself this jacket. It’s now called Beacon/commando jacket by Barbour. Can’t wait to put it on .
It’s amazing to wear in the autumn and early spring. Anything else is not good.
The large rear pocket at the bottom of the coat is the ‘game pocket’ used for pheasant and partridge!
Good luck getting anything other than a glove in there. It’s tiny.

I've got one of these, and it's my favourite jacket... the only thing I'm finding now, is that it's not terribly waterproof any more... When you rewaxed yours, did you use the standard Barbour thornproof wax..?
Andrew Terry yep! I had to use a whole tin but very waterproof when I did it. It’s due for a top up soon though.
You mentioned this jacket is in size large. What is height and weight and how long arms you have please. I have thee bedale in size 40. I think I could use the 38. But I have no idea about the sizing on this jacket. I just don’t know why Barbour does not use the good old sizing for the commander instead of small, medium, large etc. Your response would be very helpful and appreciated. Thanks.
I wear a Beaufort in 40. So you should be fine with a large for tokito

Great video, thanks! Ordered the Beacon Sports jacket this week and I am wondering if Barbour could add the storm flap afterwards if I would send it in... any experiences? I suppose that it could be sewn on?
You would have to ask them! As the storm flap has special tweed on the back.. unless you can choose something else.
@Wax and tartans the Beacon Sports Jacket which is available on the online shop is not limited and it is not called Tokito right? The one you show in this video is the limited edition and the exact same jacket from Skyfall. Correct?
You got that right! The current one is the mass produced version and the one in my video is the same as the Skyfall.

The removable hood and storm flap are the only differences I believe.

I've got this jacket and it's just a tad too small, the arms are too long so sizing up isn't an option
You can get them shortened.

Great review. How does the Lutz compare? I have an Ashby that I really like but thinking Ashby (navy) and Lutz (Olive) could be a great pair.
Kings Trumper lutz is a bad choice, very stuffy!

I looked at the west moreland after seeing it on your IG and Walker and Hawkes popped up as an alternative. Apologies for so many questions but any experience with them? My assumption is given the price point they won't be as good. Lastly, would be good to see jumpers reviewed (poss too niche). But I have an essential zip, button patch and today my tyne arrived. All wear very differently. The tyne is very heavy. But love them all.

Large should be ok with no layers. XL if you want layering.
Hi, quick question. I have seen the Barbour Dept B jacket similar to this in Olive and Navy. Is Navy exactly the same material? It looks a little thinner in pics

It's a dealbreaker for me if I can't return it to it's former glory. PS: Picked up a sage Mcqueen rectifier. Def worth looking at for those days when it's too warm.

Great video, any experience of the trooper or sapper jackets.
Only minimal, but I know someone who has them so I'll see if I can steal them for a bit.
I own a Sapper jacket, cracking piece of kit and keeps you warm as well.
How does it compare to a Lutz in terms of size and fit?
It’s a bit looser.

@@WaxandTartans found one going for £40 on ebay a few years back, just described as 'barbour jacket'. No bids into the last half hour, I thought Christmas had come early.
Of course, it went north of £400 in the last minute... and that's when they were cheap!

I have the lutz and I fucking hated the stupid membrane so I cut it out. Absolutely no idea what Barbour we’re thinking putting it in. It just makes the jacket unwearable in my opinion. They should’ve just had the thicker Beaufort style lining. I don’t like the way Barbour are going more towards fashion rather than function. The designs are nice but make them practical. Same as belstaff. They made the levinson wood Explorer jacket supposed to be a proper utility coat but it wasn’t waxed and it was pretty much white, thus rendering it totally useless for anything but photo shoots.
That’s the reason I sold my Lutz! Great looking jacket, but just unwearable. Like you, I have no idea why they put it in and not use the thicker lining. Belstaff is a fashion brand now, and Barbour is a cheaper alternative. Shame really.

Hmmm because on every website like Barbours or Jamesbondlifestyle the guys are somewhere like 193cm wearing M size... and I was like so with my 173cm should I get XS? haha I think M would be good for me then, but now i'm thinking about L... what's your opinion owning several Barbours?
@@J0lker I’m assuming it’s different builds. A medium would not fit as my chest size and shoulders are broader. Own as many as you want! I do
@@WaxandTartans They are too pricey for me :< Will need to think about it, which size try first. But unfortunately they are usually available abroad so can't fit them in Poland, especially in my city. Thank you!
@@J0lker I´m 172cm and I got a Small! It feels a little narrow on the shoulders and back! also de armpits feel a little tight... but with use I feel its getting loose. The sleeves are perfect!

I do all the time unfortunately. But funnily enough only in cold temperatures! It’ll be the perfect Spring/Autumn jacket.
Kev I am thinking of getting it professionally re lined with a breathable material. For the price you pay it's ridiculous, I can only wear it in certain temps.
If you’re in the UK, Mallin & Son can do it. Tell them I sent you if you do.
I’ve just bought a Barbour Beacon Sports Jacket in a size Large as Barbour recommended to size up. I had a Lutz several years ago but sold it as it was too hot for me and I regularly overheated. Will I have the same problem with the Beacon Sports too? Thanks for any help
