Lyrics:
I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of SoHo in the rain
He was looking for the place called Lee Ho Fook's
Gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein
Ah-hoo, werewolves of London
Ah-hoo
Ah-hoo, werewolves of London
Ah-hoo
If you hear him howling around your kitchen door
You better not let him in
Little old lady got mutilated late last night
Werewolves of London again
Ah-hoo, werewolves of London
Ah-hoo
Ah-hoo, werewolves of London
Ah-hoo, hey
He's the hairy handed gent who ran amuck in Kent
Lately, he's been overheard in Mayfair
You better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim
Huh, I'd like to meet his tailor
Ah-hoo, werewolves of London
Ah-hoo
Ah-hoo, werewolves of London
Ah-hoo
Well, I saw Lon Chaney walking with the Queen
Doing the werewolves of London
I saw Lon Chaney, Jr. walking with the Queen, uh
Doing the werewolves of London
I saw a werewolf drinking a piña colada at Trader Vic's
And his hair was perfect
Na!
Ah-hoo, werewolves of London
Huh, draw blood
Ah-hoo, werewolves of London

“And his hair was perfect”
Legendary lyrics
Martin Scorsese knew this well (from The Color of Money).
DYUP
The inflection he gave the last word made it a legendary lyric.
"I saw a werewolf in Trader Joe's
And his hair was PERFECT". GREAT!
…DIT!
@@kaiserwill11 I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's.
" I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hands"..... Lol That's a bad ass beginning of a song!
That menu seems to be needing a menu of grimores...
"He was lookin' for the place called Lee Ho Fookth"
Xerox Xanax
Perfect song.
Although not quiet as badass as the beginning of Play It All Night Long! 😉
One of the absolute greatest songs of all-time, love the melody and the vibe. Beautiful!!
It's so amazingly oridnary except for the sense of humor. "GSOAT" really? seriously? lol seriously ass
@@isabelasuplicy2658 It sounds like YOU'RE amazingly ordinary if you don't feel that music and appreciate that atmosphere. Not all people have the sensory perception to recognize that level of coolness. Great job spelling by the way.
How can you LOVE the melody? It has no melody. I mean it literally has no melody - it's spoken - not sung.
The "melody " refers to the musicality of a song, the instrumental portion of the piece. The fact that the majority of the lyrics are either spoken or sung is irrelevant as it is an added element, and not part of the actual melody. But when the two are combined effectively, the results can be spectacular, as it is in this case. You should try to just enjoy a song and take the stick out of your ass!
@@nickbommarito2209 No Nick - a melody is a series of single notes sung or played in succession one at a time to create a song. A melody can be written as a series of melodic notes in musical notation.
What you are describing is what comprises the rhythm and harmony that make up the accompaniment to the melody.
While most songs are known by their melody, some have no melody and are comprised only of a rhythmic structure, sometimes underscoring spoken lyrics without a melody.
A simple test to determine whether a song has a melody or not is to attempt to hum the lyrics.
Werewolves of London does NOT have a melody. That is simply a fact - not an attack on you. I understand that your feelings are hurt because I pointed out your error. It was not my intention to cause you any pain or embarrassment. I was simply correcting a common mistake made by non-musicians.
“Little old lady got mutilated late last night” that is one of the best lines of lyric in all of rock music.
You should listen to some Nick Cave crazy songs than, you'll love it :D
i agree. it totally just pops into my head randomly at times
@@jacobring7274 Yep, somehow i just start singing to myself these lyrics and people look at me strange . Only a few know what song this is.
@@sammyhooligan803 idk why this comment made me laugh - legends like us who know this song are indeed rare!
👏👏👏
Every lyric in this song is quotable.
Lol
You mean like "He's the heavy-handed gent who ran amok in Kent, lately he's been overheard in Mayfaire. You better stay away from him, he'll rip your lungs out, Jim. Hah, I'd like to meet his tailor."
Correct lyrics: “He’s the hairy, hairy gent”’ not “heavy-handed”.
@@hebneh Appreciate the correction.
@@hebneh You're both half-right. It's "hairy-handed gent"
his hair was perfect

@@natebalcerak1659 , gosh, you must be really intelligent .
Interesting fact - the song actually started out as a joke (between Warren and Phil Everly, of The Everly Brothers fame), but wound up being the biggest hit of Warren's career.
And a good thing it was.
Was used as backup in a hit dance number many moons (full moons) later
Interesting fact this song hadn't been used in any teen wolf movies n I've use for the Munsters theme for a ghoul surfing in my cartoon hmmm
I played this song for my dog and he loves it
'I saw a werewolf drinking a Pina colada at trader vix, his hair was perfect." Wild ass lyrics.
I'd like to meet his tailor !
Werewolves probably have great hair.
Det!
Haaa, IKR..that is my part!
Trader Vic's. It was a bar in the late 70s and early 80s.
***AH-WOOOOOOOO*** ! An all time classic. they don't make music like this anymore!
indeed
no kidding
They never made’em like this.

Put him in the Hall of Fame already
I think Warren deserves better, like a fifty foot statue outside The Whitehouse!
How can they not?
A favorite classic from 1978.🐺 Ahhoo!
RIP Warren Zevon. An authentic rock legend.
I think "and his hair was perfect"
Is my favorite line.
The coolest song ever made !!!!
yes
One of my favorite songs from the 1970s. From 1978.
EVERY LINE AN ABSOLUTE GEM . RIP.
His hair was perfect❤
Don't you love when this song comes on the radio and you realize that it ISN'T Kid Rock?
Don`t you hate it when it is ?
@murdant why?
Always puts a smile on my face.. I hope everyone here has a wonderful 2025 and that all is well with you and yours always. 🙌♥️🍻

John McVie from Fleetwood Mac and Mick Fleetwood on drums.

Many years ago whilst I was walking home on a rainy autumn night leaving the museum with its secrets and dark foreboding this song came to me. Thank you, Warren.
The colour of money what a film! Thanks for this.
1978! 18 years old and loving life. Thanks Warren Zevon.....
And we knew the good music. Most did not.
"1978! 18 years old and loving life"
He was actually around 31 when this came out, not 18, still a great song, though.
@@codyeaster290pretty sure OP means they’re 18 when it came out, not Zevon
The best song ever, it ticks all the boxes.
More fun than hemorrhoids!

I bet that, one day, One Direction can LITERALLY dance all night to the best song ever, which, as you said, is this masterpiece from someone much better than every member of 1D combined by a long shot!
Still a great song in May 2024. Love it.👌
U no it!!
alright!
The best "concert" I've ever been to was at Charlie Goodnights. Warren Zevon was playing. Mid nineties. Couldn't believe it. He was absolutely brilliant!!!
Why did you put “concert”’in quotations!? I’m sure it was amazing
What an absolute American Singer, Songwriter, Genius and Legend!
I thought Warren Zevon was British.

Try driving with this song blasting on the speakers, an experience you'll never forget
"Sweet Home Alaaaaaaoooooooh,werwolves of London!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"Aaawooooooo, Werewolves of London singing 'Sweet Home Alabama' all summer long!"
@ZakWolf Warren Zevon, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kid Rock all rolled into one!
Been there, and done that! It's difficult to drive with this one rockin'!😅😅😅 3:08
1:27 I love how you here him slip and laugh saying London
Never noticed that before. Thanks.
One of my all-time favorite classic rock jams. It *never* gets old.
I had absolutely no idea until right now that Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" sampled this; hearing that piano hit me like a ton of bricks.
I so hope Warren Zevon gets into the Rock Roll Hall of Fame this year he's nominated this year HE ABSOLUTELY BELONGS THERE!
completely shocked he's not been there for decades already
Not really he doesnt have many good songs
You are absolutely right but we all know the rock and roll hall of fame selection committee alot of times seems like they have there heads in the sand
But, them wolves howling around the kitchen door said better not let him in.
Warren Zevon has more credibility than the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. My two cents is that he doesn’t need it.
I love the guitar riffs in this track, using heavy distortion sound effects!!
I like how he does the howl and then back to lead vocal. I think most artists would have had the howl fading out as the lead began over it. Truly unique in that aspect.
".....and his haaaaaiirr was PERFECT... BEEPPPP!" 🎱

Haven't heard this song in years...

Awesome track and Awesome lyrics
Big love from Manchester England 👏🏾👏🏾
At the end it sounds like to me he was going to sing ahwooo twice. Instead he sang ahwooo once and then werewolves of London. And then he said “wrong one”. You can kind of him laugh when he said it. Perfect beginning with the bass and drums. Perfect song. Heavy, heavy beat. This guy was a genius.
He says "draw blood."
He should have said, A who!
I've always wondered why he came in early on the last "Ah-whoooo!" By the way, what he says is "Draw blood!". Happy Halloween!
Warren Struck Up The Band!
I'm in my mid teen years I love this one it's been a favorite since my dad who grew up in the 60s and 70s introduced me to this kind of music when I was little I will always love classic rock for the rest of my life it's the only kind of music I like
I'm gonna get me a big dish of beef chow mein today!
One of the greatest albums of all time for sure.
So underrated. What a masterpiece in its own right. I'll never get sick of this the comedy is too good

They don't even use real instruments any more, at least in mainstream stuff

I think that it's time someone proved that this song isn't just for Halloween. For instance, it sounds perfect for road trips and/or going from A to B to C and so on on the train.
