Now that, is a fun fact

That bass intro is just perfection, bass instruments are some of my favorites
Tina Weymouth is one of the greatest bass players ever.
I just love how the lyrics shift from 1st person, to 3rd person in "We are vain & we are blind"--taking US outside of the killer's mind again--shifting our empathy--not just brilliant, but NICE.
Yes you vvomen are vain and blind...it angers me

I hate reading the comments thinking they're talking about actual serial killers. This song is way deeper on so many levels. I would say one of the best songs ever in terms of depth.
Let’s hear it then
@@qsdr3ams613fr
@qsdr3ams613 I personally see it as a guy who is paranoid that people think he's some crazy person when in reality he's just some normal guy. Just a schizo guy singing a schizo song. Though I don't speak a lick of French so idk what the different language parts are saying so that might contradict my pov of the song.

let's go brandon!
What I like about this is, the verses are not sonically symmetrical.
It's like a jam session that just spirals.
It's a wild chant.
Not a cookie cutter tempo filler.
Passion.
Great song. Talking heads were always so different, made them awesome. This song will stick in your head all day.
Talking Heads is an amazing band, there's not much more to say.
So influential, so out there. The artistic value as a whole just puts them in their own genrre ;)
I give kudo's to great talent, great "artists"...then there is David Byrne specifically and the Talking Heads in general as "Forces of Nature", very few musicians (some Peter Gabriel stuff comes to mind) have every garnered that title from me. Van Morrison, great artist, NOT FORCE OF NATURE, David Bowie, close, but no cigar (great artist category), etc. Is this "Rock", well that would be a very loose definition, is it jazz, not really but...is it country, NO, is it DISCO (NO, thank GOD(s)), it is just awesome music.
Probably the closet thing the 80s had to their generations Beatles
Oh there influential alright 🫣😅

@@Gweem13 I totally get what you're saying. It's a lyrically complex song. I've read some interesting interpretations, and I think the best one is that the song takes us inside the mind of someone who isn't rational. He randomly changes from first to second person, breaks into French, digresses into this strange narrative, chides someone (possibly himself) for starting conversations they can't finish and proceeds to warn others to "run, run away." Is he hearing voices? Does he have multiple personalities? Is he talking to someone else, or just himself? Who is this French story about? What did he do? Was it something real or did he imagine it? What kind of glory is he going for? I think we're supposed to be confused and maybe a little afraid. That's way more information that you wanted but just my thoughts on the issue.
