    Interesting. Rumour has it Ducati is making a new V-Twin sportsbike that will replace both the Supersport & the V2. It will also supposedly be cheaper than the Supersport S & V2 which are similarly priced so maybe standard Supersport money. Apparently it will be more sporty than the Supersport but less so than the V2, at least in bhp, if not chassis & intent. I wonder if they're going to just hike the capacity to a 1000cc but in a relatively low state of tune. Also a good chance it's going to be more road than track orientated imo & ultimately be a sporty sports tourer. Either way I'm definitely interested to see what EICMA brings.

      I dont think they need to go downmarket on price. Im not saying to upmarket. Id argue to keep pricing static across the line and let inflation take care of the "cost" Ducati is a premium asperational brand. You bring that downmarket to the peasants and you have no more reason for ppl like me to spend money on product some ass hat just bought. Porsche would never produce a Honda Civic fighter. (ha that would be interested right) My point remains. It will turn into an all market brand like Mercedes in Europe. They produce crap cars to the cars you and i know as Mercs here, the brand doesn't have the same feel over there because of that.

      @@aurorajones8481 The operative word here is cheaper, not cheap, in any sense of the word. As mentioned, supposedly basic Supersport price. To be clear I have no insider knowledge, just what I've picked up trawling the net so could be BS. However, it's a reasonable supposition if it's replacing both the Supersport & V2. There's also the option for an upgraded S etc where they can go to town. Having a more road focused version & separate more track orientated model, with better suspension, brakes, & if required, lower clip-ons etc, would definitely make sense.

    I like that they are making the v2 look diff from the v4. I personally don't like the two being the same. I still want an unmolested Panigale stock mill in the V4 multi RS with 210 hp shorten this stroke a bit for a lower ride and you have a REAL pure lifted sports bike. Which is what i want. Which doesn't exist ATM.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 2 дні тому

      @@shonith91 Originally it had to do with allowing valve open-and-close velocities that were outside traditional spring allowances at the time of development. You could open the valve sooner, open the valve further, and close it faster than the performance of a spring, especially at high engine RPM. Valve spring technology has come an extremely long way in dealing with weight, response, natural spring frequency, and other issues. It's made the cost and complexity of Desmo by comparison more of a traditionalist issue than any overall performance advantage. You can achieve more with Desmo probably, under limited operating conditions, but at what cost to the company and the customers?

    The L2's of the '70ies didn't all have desmo. That was a thing of marketing from the late 70's onwards. So if there are Duc engines in L2 form , they're probably going to cater for the 10'000 milers, entry -levellers, mid-weighters, who want an everyday bike with something special ,style, italianita, but without the hassle .
    Looking forward to Eicma......

    • @GIGABACHI

      They should reserve DESMO strictly for their race bikes.
      Street and Road bikes, make their valvetrain coil spring type. And if they feel inspired and throw hydraulic lifters in a couple of them, that would be even better.
      I want to ride more and wrench a lot less.
      That's something that Harley beats all others, hands down.
      Too bad they mostly build heavy cross country cruisers with antiquated engine tech (air-oil cooled, multi piece crank, separated transmission and clutch, 3 different drain and fill holes, et al).
