This is like the Kansas city version of Austin city limits. I think it's excellent and I hope it continues. is there a studio audience for these recordings? this how I discovered the Marcus King band. Thank you.
Ah this comment! Thanks so much James! The Bridge is a public radio station that is listener supported. We sometimes thank our members by letting them come into these sessions. All are shot live to radio so its not a set time. Pretty random as to when the bands can come in. bridge909.org has more information. Starting March 25th these sessions will be at 10PM on channel 19 KCPT, airing right before....Austin City Limits.
Laura Jean... I remember King Biscuit Flower Hour too. That was a great radio program wasn't it. I got turned on to so many bands from listening to that show that I might never have heard of otherwise. I grew up in southern Ontario on the North shore of Lake Erie and I believe I heard it from a Erie Pa radio station or from Q107 Toronto. Can't remember for sure. I guess my age is showing too. :)
ACL and Austin lost its way a long, long time ago. They are both a corporate caricature of what it once was. So grateful someone is filling those shoes.
Went down a rabbit hole and have been watching MKD videos for like 4 hours now. Inspiring to see these kids bring back real music from the south, Billy Strings too
show me a better guitarist than Billy Strings... and MK... wow, great guitarist too... awesome and a beautiful voice - 'Wildflowers and Wine' might be my funeral song (if I have a say)
There's a fair number of great sessions of Marcus and the band on UA-cam, but you gotta give credit where credit is due -- the interviewer here is really great. Did his research, asked compelling questions, and generally put everyone at ease. Great stuff!
Thanks Robbie! Jon does extensive research and puts so much effort into his interviews. The artists deserve it. They work 10x harder. Thanks for watching!
Luv this band. Marcus has great musical instincts. His band is perfect suited. Absolute killer rhythm section and u don’t need 2 guitars or a frontman.
This is fusion! My favorite musical genre... back from the late seventies. Didn't think I'd ever hear it again. Marcus is a huge talent. I'm praying this kind of music will catch on and there will finally be something on the radio worth listening to.
been listening to alot of marcus king lately and its nice to find out a little about him his influences and family his playing with billy strings just impressed all the way
Great interaction between Jon Hart and Marcus King. Congrats! Love this band, just discovered them today whilst doodling around on Spotify. Gonna stick with these guys, classic musicianship from every member of the band. Made my day man😎
Up front I expected something a little more unimaginative, but whoa they can all play and the tunes are so engaging and smooth. Really my style. Lots of love.
Very gifted kid. Obviously a very old soul...great bass player and drummer. The horns and keys are spot on. Marks vocals are ground breaking and unique. It brings me back to the days, watching the original AB band with Barry and Duane lighting up everyone with amazing spirit and soulful musicianship. The Bridge is a wonderful and precious undertaking, supporting the musical arts with such a truly professional and humble presentation and pretty amazing production engineering...great mix. My best to the crew of the Marcus King band and my sincere appreciation for the efforts, staff and production of The Bridge. Thank y'all.
WOW. A new fan from Norway, great guy and guitar player. A bit Derek Trucks, a bit Albert King, BB King, A whole lot of himself. Jazzy and classy blues. SRV is smiling from above and clap his hand to this. Thank you for a great experience.
Great production and great interview. I felt the questions and answers were so natural, like a conversation between 2 old friends. I still can't believe he's only 20 here, though. He's so mature and focused for his age. I can't wait to see what he does next and how his sound and style evolves.
I love the Marcus King Band . These guys are all awesome musicians. Not to many young guys playing this type of blues, jazz ,rock and roll mix kinda music anymore . Good to see it stay alive .✌
blacklungs agreed. Marcus is the focal point for good reason, but every member of this band is incredibly skilled. They’re such a great group, collectively.
I hear ya but with that comment you stole from all the others, yes he is lucky , n So is all of them . A good band is hard to make for many reasons. Don’t discount, enjoy 😊
you know speaking a drummers and I was kind of shocked when I really absorb all this information and it relates to the Beatles When I found out that Ringo Starkey Ringo Starr from the Beatles did not play on 27 I think it was 27 tunes on three records coming up so that who was the drummer's name his name was god dammit or get his name but he was a studio musician from the early 60s he was called in you didn't know who the Beatles were and he was called in to fill in all the tunes that Ringo wasn't lesson plan right on and supposedly he was amazed at how I don't know all I know is that Ringo was not on a lot of the studio recordings
Great Sounding group>>>>>wow! I think the man playing trumpet and tambourine at the same time is super cool. I play guitar now but my first instrument was the Trumpet, which I still play 30 years later.
Heard these guys couple years ago, I totally hope he makes it mainstream, the world needs guys like him . Not to mention his music is Great in the Bedroom 😆
kudos for doing this..For those of us not able to come to the other side of the planet to see some amazing talent like this..I'm a fan...been a few decades since I was a 'fan'
The last song is so good. What I mean by so good is, that song transcends genres. It's such a perfect song, you can't take anything out or put anything in its perfect!!!!!!!
Love this band, incorporating horns is awesome. Blues, country, psychedelic rock, sweet. Marcus gets great tone out of his Gibson! And I love his playing. PS- SOUTH CAROLINA!!
May I just compliment you on your interviewing!Always kind. THANK YOU. In these times I'd prefer to see you at CNN OR .. (no...you stay there)...and the band...how wonderful. In your area gentleman are extremely interesting. GOD BLESS and THANK YOU!❤
This is fantastic. Thank you so much. I have seen MKB 7 times since March...most recently jan 27 in NYC with Eric Krasno Band...these cats are the real deal. And such great people too. Burning up some audio cd's of this great session to share with fellow MKBeings. The future of music is bright :-)
geetarbube how western Maryland blues fest?? I'm from Frederick and wanted to attend but already had tickets for crawfish fest in NJ still got to see some great blues from Kim Wilson and the fabulous thunderbirds, nick moss band, and anders Osborne. Would love to attend next year if the lineup is as strong.
Not sure what to call this, but I do wish the band lots of success in the future since they are really awesome. Just can't process the fact that Marcus is younger than my oldest son :-) This band should continue forever....will for sure follow their progress!
Replying to myself might be somewhat pathetic but the mature guitar playing is amazing and the whole band is really on top of it all, they do sound like a band playing together for years and years....congrats to the band...
You aren't replying to yourself if we jump in! Thanks so much for watching. Marcus has put in a lot of time even though he's still young. He will just keep getting better!

@Laura Mounier I've seen King Biscuit CDs on Ebay. Humble Pie, Allmans, sooo many . . .
ACL and Austin lost its way a long, long time ago. They are both a corporate caricature of what it once was. So grateful someone is filling those shoes.
@@roodmood1 unfortunately, too true
Real music isn't dead, it's just hiding away in youtube for those who are hungry to find it.
This is true!!
Joder
Oh, yeah.
And I was starving for this.
This band is like driving a fully restored 68 mustang with a new drivetrain, modern suspension and disc brakes. YES PLEASE!
great analogy
Went down a rabbit hole and have been watching MKD videos for like 4 hours now. Inspiring to see these kids bring back real music from the south, Billy Strings too

Check out Myron Elkins. Young kid. He opened for Shane Smith and the Saints. So good
Fantastic Band! Thanks for sharing. Marcus is great song writer, great guitarist, great singer. Greetings from Italy! 💚🤍❤

I couldn't agree more. I'm discovering this video a little late but it was a truly great watching and listening experience.

Oh it's on the radio alright. We play him and artists similar all the time on 90.9 the Bridge. Stream here: bridge909.org/

One of the most underrated amazing talent out there. Hope these cats explode like Gary Clark Jr. one day!
Like the comparison! Hope they do as well. They are great!

There are other bands out there that are actually good
So good! Just hits those right spots in my mind and soul. God Bless and thank you for your music.
Marcus you are an old soul & rock that guitar! Love your band🌼
Its amazing how young in years he is. Skilled beyond them for sure!
I can't get enough of this interview. So much fun, and such wonderful playing. What a great band!
Goddam the man sings like Gregg and plays like Dwayne. Fantastic
They wished.
Easily one of the best videos on the internet... Thank you.
The whole internet? 🤯

I REALLY like how you guys produce this show. Your camera op is a monster. Most folks probably don't even realize this is a single shot. Brilliant.

Carrying the torch. I'd say in good hands.
Really good to see Brian Posehn introduce a band like this.
Count your lucky stars Marcus King that you have a drummer with chops like that, this band couldn't be same without such talent.

This is how u introduce an artist. Great interview , a room full of pros.
Thank you kindly!
Marcus King, Gary Clark Jr and Tedeschi Trucks Band - my fave 3 bands right now.
Excellent! The horns were the icing on the cake...nice job fellas!
Outstanding. I will NOT miss them next time they're in KC!!
Saw Marcus King last month in Boston. Incredible show! It was a harder rocking show than I expected too! Great song writer, and player and so young.

Class act stay cool stay away from drugs and garbage and this guy is gonna have a long career.
It's always us that don't fit in at school that end up being musicians. Nice playing from the whole band. Very impressive.
And end up inviting so many others to fit in by enjoying the music they make. Many thanks!
I will have the privilege to see this amazing band 2/1/19 in Newport News VA. MKB kicks ass.
