I used to be in Kyoto many years ago and I visited my friend there! It is soooo beautiful and very traditional!!! Completely different than Tokyo. I'm very interested how you like it there 😁 have fun and enjoy your trip 😃Big hugs from Germany (I was the one you wrote you on Instagram lately because of a marketplace for used violin strings, I don't know if you remember😅), Vanessa

Congratulations! I just got back from a month trip in Japan! Make sure to get a suica card and a JR rail pass it makes using the subways and getting to cities via shinkansen really easy. If you get a JR pass you get access to the yamanote line which takes you in the loop around tokyo hitting most of the major stops. When you're in Kyoto if you go to Arashiyama make sure to leave early in the morning if you want to go and see the bamboo forest! It gets really crowded really quick! I recommend going on a weekday at like 6am! The Skytree was one of my favorite places in Tokyo, you get to see just how giant Tokyo really is from 630m up! If you want to look at violins theres a few shops in Ginza Tokyo and there's even a 12 floor Yamaha building that has a floor dedicated to violins, cellos, and other stringed orchestral instruments! The piano floor is insane too! I hope you guys have a great trip and have as much fun as I did!!!! Mata Ne!

That's really awesome! We already have our suica cards and we have our JR vouchers too. We'll definitely go up the Tokyo tower and I'd love to see the bamboo forest in Kyoto too! Good advice to go early. 😉 I'm really curious for this country, let's see if it lives up to the hype. 😉✨ But I'm sure I'll like it a lot there. 😊

Congratulations! I lived for 4 months in Singapore and I really wanted to get to know Japan (one of my dreams is to get to know Kyoto!) while I was there, but due to the pandemic the country was still closed so I couldn't. Detail that Japan reopened about 1 month after I returned to Brazil and a couple of friends who were still in Singapore managed to go there hahahaha But I don't know if I would face more than 40 hours of travel again for now, so this dream will stay for a while later XD Have lots of fun!

I lived in Japan a number of years. I would honestly skip the amusement parks entirely, and use that time to see some smaller towns or countryside. Hopefully you've booked a few traditional accommodations like minshuku or ryokan. Fuji is a tough climb if you have jet lag, so don't over-do it. Love ya.

Nice to hear! We love theme parks and we didn't book a ryokan, only comfortable hotels, haha. I'm sure it'll be fun!

I returned from my two week skiing trip in Hokkaido last month.
I cannot recommend the northern most main island enough.
There mentally is very far removed from that of the Netherlanders, in that they do not communicate in blunt speech.
I am afraid you have missed the Cherry Blossom, the nation experienced a heatwave in early spring causing premature blossoming by a month. Though there is still some of it left, especially in the north.

Nice! We already knew we wouldn't see the blossoms, and we have plenty of blossom trees here as well, so I don't mind about that. The northern part of Japan is quite cold, right?
