If anyone has questions and are looking to the comment section for answers, let me clear them up; 1) When he is starting to make the blade, he subdivided, then he cuts. If you guys are having an error with cutting and the cut doesn't go all the way to the end, but rather to the first lines. Here is my solution: Use a loop cut, it may go all around but you can clear and delete the extra cuts. Or, there might be extra faces and vertices interfering with the cut. To fix this go to Mesh: Clean Up: Delete Loose and select faces, vertices and sides. If it says 0, just use the loop cut to fix this. 2) If you want to raise the blade, but the sides(those small edges he did at the beggining) are coming up with your blade, here is the solution: Go to where part where the mini blade is connecting with the main blade when raised, and dissolve the vertice(s). Mine was at the opposite side of where I was working on, behind the blade so when I disolved it stopped the raise. It will look different, but you can substitute and resize blocks to fit in the 2 empty spaces. 3) If yall were wondering how to make the blade flat and scale to medium, here it is; Select the faces you want to scale (the blade you are raising). Press S, then Z then 0 on your keyboard and it will scale. 4) To select multiple faces, this is how: Go to the bar that says edit mode, and right next to it will be 3 buttons. The first is for vertices, the second is for cuts and lines and the third will be for selecting faces. To select a row of faces press the face you want to select. press control and select the end of the face you want to select. To manually select faces press Shift and whatever face/vertices/cut so it will not reset when you click a new one. 5) When you are about to raise your blade, and your cuts, but the lines don't line up to 1 vertices, here is what to do: Leave it! Select all the middle vertices and pull it up, its fine if there is more than one center vertices. Any questions can be commented here and I will be editing this as I come across more problems :)
i tried to follow this but when you got the the part where you made all the lines on the top of the sword before it was sharp and pressed something to make it go pointy, mine just adds a thin straight line upwards from that point
I'm watching this one to see how you handle the sharp edges of the sword. I've new doing fixed blade knives and using AI to create the outline shape of the blade and bringing into Blender as an .SVG😀
i cant extrude it to smaller. it just sucks in what do i do. i have a project due 12 tonigth. when you extrude the top and bottom it just sucks in but the corners and edges stay
At about 10:40, you talk about how to smoothen out the top of the blade and find the median vertice, but the key commands you mentioned don't do anything but bring up a wheel and doesn't seem to do anything else.... I think I'm in a newer version of blender, so some things might have changed, but I'm having a hard time figuring this one out myself...
I did it! I made the sword! Woohoo! I got a little bogged trying to get fancy with the point, but I think I know what I did wrong. Great set of tutorials! My only issue is that the watch order of the videos seems random.
when it came to trying to do the sword it would only cut the first section and not go the whole way down and its go me really confused as to what was going on
2:41 every time i click the top edge and try to scale it only scales the edge and the like it does not make a triangle like that just a straight line help!1!!
I had dissolved those vertices away. And if your knife cut isn't joining some lines, it more than likely means that there is a hidden face on the model. You can remove those by selecting all the vertices and going up to the vertex menu at the top and clicking remove doubles.
@@crimson_9692 sounds like the point of the sword wasn't centered. You can either use the Knife tool to cut a line in, or join each side to the middle vertex.
If you pressed confirm, and it didn't make it's cuts, the only reason I can think of is that the face isn't connected to the vertices. So generally that happens if there is an extruded race over top of a face.

I don't know any of the keybinds, like it wont even let me select like you do in 2:14, I wish you would explain all the keybinds you use to make the sword while you are making it
are you scaling in edit mode? Do you have proportional editing turned on? Am I scaling on a particular axis at the part in the video you're talking about? It could be those and a few more possibilities, but look into those first.

when I try to cut with the knife over the original cube's edges it doesn't create a vertex on top of the edges, nor an edge. Do you maybe know why?
