Great job Jack! Side note- I had a slight issue with an Icon S that I bought used a few months ago. Reached out to the factory for some tips, Tom offered to take a look at it even though I'm the second owner. They corrected at no charge and shipped it back. Fantastic guitars and super nice people.
Bought my first Tom Anderson Classic S super strat in 1994. Flame Orange with swamp ash body. Maple neck with rosewood fretboard. Anderson locking tuners, Anderson tremolo bridge, two Anderson stacked single coils, and a mid high gain hum-bucker. It had the switcheroo toggle system. I still have it today and it plays and sounds just as amazing as the day it was new! I will never sell it! Played and recorded with it all these years! And I will keep enjoying it until the day it passes on to my kids! Love Tom Anderson guitars 🎸 Simply the best!
When i got my Tom Anderson i had a small epiphany of what to expect in a high end guitar. It doesn't sound like an angel choir just by fondling it. However, It does sound great, looks great, plays great. It stays in tune, the neck is very stable and reliable. Electronics work great. Overall after 3 years of owning i have zero complaints and it's the guitar i pick up honestly like 99,5% of the time now just cause i know i won't have an intonation headache. I know it will feel great and probably still be in tune since last time. Got all the sounds i want. It's just a damn good guitar.
This was fantastic! Really made me appreciate Tom Anderson guitars even more, seems like such a kind and genuine guy who cares for his team. Had a Cobra S and it was flawless, not a single imperfection on that guitar.
An amazingly thorough and interesting factory tour! What a bonus to be guided by Mr Tom Anderson himself! Thank you to all of the team for producing this documentary.
I can't thank you enough for this tour. Jack has turned out to be my favorite guitarist to watch online and Tom Anderson is by far my favorite guitar builder. Two of my favorites! I own seven Andersons and for a good reason. You can clearly see the respect that Jack has for Tom and the love and passion he puts in each guitar build. Keep up the great work guys!
Acquired my first Tom Anderson recently, a 2009 ‘Cobra’ short scale T-style with Anderson in-house P90s, all original and in like new condition 😊. I have a number of other custom shop and boutique style guitars and the Anderson is absolutely up there with the finest I have owned and played, it’s truly superb, with wonderful natural resonance and sustain. Pickups have bite like you wouldn’t believe. I love it. Having now ‘met’ Ton Anderson in this video, I can see why. Many thanks to Peach for a 5-star video and Tom, I hope you keep on doing such great work, Thank you!!
John sold me an Anderson Hollow Drop Top in Cajun Red back in 2016, and it's still my #1 guitar. While this video was being shot, he was in the back room with Roy messaging me to agreeing specs for my next one 😁, a Strawberry Shortcake Wakesurf S-type hollow droptop with 3x P90. I can't wait!
Tom Anderson is such a great guy! I recalled back in Jan 2014, I flew from Singapore to USA for a holiday, one of the itinerary was to have a factory tour. Tom was so gracious and gave me a personal tour around his factory! I ordered my first classic s shoreline gold through my local dealer and when it arrived in 2014, it felt so light and resonant and the neck is simply amazing! Then in 2020, I ordered another Icon Classic S in 3 tone sunburst, the wood grains are insane and I love just the right amount of burst around it. Neck is amazing as usual and the whole guitar just felt great! Consistency was the word indeed! I wouldn’t hesitate to order another TA anytime again, knowing quality and workmanship is always top of their heads! I also have to mention that they reply emails super quick!
Wonderful tour by the man himself! (Love my Anderson!) Would've been nice to hear about the development of the 2 bolt wedge neck joint. One of the key things that sets them apart.
As a lefty I enjoyed that little discussion about making them. My order was being made there when you filmed this, I have it now and it's the best instrument I own.
Bought a second-hand Tom Anderson Hollow Drop Top from Gamlin's in Cardiff when I was 17 (I'm 32 now). I've bought tons of other guitars over the years but nothing has come close to the TA. Just a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful instrument. It has taken me through my life as a studying musician to a professional musician. I feel very lucky to have found such a brilliant guitar. I wish I could find a good place to get it set up and maintained (to the highest possible standard, not some quick fix). Took it to a trusted, recommended luthier and really wasn't happy with the result. Ended up having to intonate it myself, some hum from the wiring (presumably) too. It deserves proper preservation and maintenance.
Why not take it somewhere with a PLEK machine to get the guitar analysed and then properly set up? A shop like Charlie Chandlers would be able to get it right for you, surely?
I have an 1990 bowling ball Pro Am that I bought in 1991 when I was 12 after mowing lawns for two years, doing countless odd jobs, and skipping out other fun stuff. Now that I'm an old fart, it's still the favorite in my collection of what's now 25 guitars, which includes two other Andersons. Tom isn't just a great builder, he's a stand up and genuinely good man.
I'm a very considered buyer of guitars and I do own a number of expensive electrics. I think that videos of this nature are more likely to make me seriously consider checking out and buying a Tom Anderson guitar than the slickest ad agency or celebrity endorsement video. I like it 👍
That silver in-distress Angel body you two picked up off the rack is now in my possession, and I can say unequivocally it is an absolute beast of a guitar. Just slays. I've had many Andersons and currently own 2. Tom is the best in the business, hands down best customer service of any builder out there by a mile. I've been playing Andersons since '08 and they are the quintessential modern working guitar players instrument. All the modern features you'd want with rock solid stability. You won't find a better playing guitar out there, and I've played practically every boutique and non-boutique builder out there. Just a joy to play and sounds incredible with superior versatility. Worth every penny!
Thank you for this great video. So awesome to see and hear the man I've only known through his stellar reputation. Truly one of the greats in the industry.
That was fantastic! Thank you so much for doing this. Been a fan and player of these fine instruments for a while now. Very tempted by all these new ones too.
what he said about making sure the necks are perfectly conditioned and paying the wood vendors immediately to get the best stuff reminds me of the kiesel factory tours i have seen, where jeff kiesel extensively talked about both of those things. might have to look for a used tom anderson.
I enjoyed that! I've had an Anderson Hollow T since the mid-90's; just had a Plek and setup adjustment done on it. It's still a beautiful, great sounding and playing guitar. Nice to learn about how things work at the factory!
Thank you for this wonderful tour as I greatly admire Tom’s work. I have a 2012 short scale mahogany slab body Bulldog Special with P-90’s thats a wonderful guitar! The action is amazingly as my fingers sort of trampoline off the fretboard in an amazing way. Excellent fret work & action! 🎸
Went to buy a Jackson RR1 in 1994, left with an Anderson Drop Top, Bora Bora blue, following year I bought a Tele style HH and I just bought another Drop Top, thanks to Kirk Hammett using Anderson’s during the Justice Tour🤘🏼
Great video. If you're ever wondering if these guitars are worth the money, YES THEY ARE. Stop thinking about it and pull the trigger already. Life is short!
I bought a 2007 Cobra S with 3 M series pickup made out of Primavera also called White Mahogany. It was a left over NOS I bought around 2012. During setup i saw this neck had issues so it ended up just sitting in its case for the next 4/ 5 years. One day i decided to email Mr. Anderson with my situation. I got a reply back in a day, send me the guitar. That i did. I got the guitar back in a few weeks and it seemed fine. But wood has a memory and it returned with the same Issue. Contacted Mr. Anderson again and he offered to build me a new neck and asked what i wanted. A few months went bye and received the guitar with a new roasted / torrefied maple neck. Dam Murphys law hits me again. And i send the guitar again. Got the guitar this time and have had it back over a year. This neck is stable and plays like a guitar in this class should. Bend a note at any area on this neck and it sustains for dayz. I also have a 2008 PRS custom 22 with a 10 quilt top. The playability of both these instruments are about the same. I find myself favoring the Anderson, it is my go to guitar out of 4 I really like the feel of the stainless steel frets and in reality they make sense for stainless is much harder than nickel / silver, no wear and these are smooth ,making vibrato techniques easier. These guitars are truly musical instruments and expensive. I do like the cry once approach with amps and guitars. IMO no guitar is worth 4/5 grand but things are as they are. I'd rather support someone that actually cares about his work and the ones playing his creations then i would these big corporations like Fender and Gibson who purposely design failure in most of their products and waste our natural resources making landfill garbage. Thank you Tom Anderson you're a good man and i pray that right hand has healed up 100% and you're back doing what you love , making Artisan level GUITARS
My experience with Tom Anderson guitars. I took a gamble purchasing a brand new Drop Top while already having suhrs and fender custom shops in my collection. They're significantly more expensive and you wonder, 'how much better can this be? It's just another strat style guitar which costs $7000 AUD'. Fast forward in time and it arrives at my door, I opened it and picked it up and thought 'this is why it costs so much'. They are incredible crafted guitars with the quality and finish that comes as nothing but perfection. Tom Anderson is the only boutique guitar brand I'd happily spend my money on. If you're curious, I'd suggest finding a second hand one which you can resell if you don't like it. Do not leave yourself wondering what it could be and take the risk and experience it, I rate TA guitars superior to Suhrs and PRS anyday.
If I could be cheeky enough to recommend Juha Ruokangas “#17 - Weekly Wednesday Live w/ Tom Anderson” It will amaze you the influence this man has had in the guitar industry.
Anderson guitars is where you go when you don't want to have to go through a hundred Fender telecasters for the one. Anderson will make the one for you for a few dollars more and you will feel well cared for every step of the way! Tom can guide you if you can express to him what you're pursuing sonically and aesthetically like a guitar doctor/consultant. Great experience and one's dream lifetime instrument.
When they used a 4-bolt neckplate, the 'born on' date was hand engraved into it after final inspection. Knowing TA, it is laser etched into the back of the headstock at the last step of the process the neck alone will fit into the machine - no more than a day or two to final.
I thought their whole marketing thing was being fully hand made. Yet he was talking about buying the matched and glued body blanks and then the CNC and what not. Seems like it's not fully hand made then right?
@@stopUkrainewar666 dang it, I had a man crush on that guy lol. I hope we can tune with him and he can keep sharing his gift with us. Peach did a great job with him too. Mutually beneficial. Wish him the best!!
I also don't believe tonewoods influence the sound that comes out of the amp. I do believe they could influence the vibrations players physically feel that accounts for the placebo, or something. Anyway, as long as a company isn't overcharging for tonewoods (many dual as having aesthetic beauty) there isn't anything wrong with believing in them, even if that belief is false (except where maybe the guitar industry would be more sustainable if different materials were used) .
Great job Jack!

Now THAT is why I am an Anderson guitar owner.
Tom is amazing. Stopped by the shop unannounced on Christmas Eve about ten years ago and he gave us a personal tour and free t shirts.
Bought my first Tom Anderson Classic S super strat in 1994. Flame Orange with swamp ash body. Maple neck with rosewood fretboard. Anderson locking tuners, Anderson tremolo bridge, two Anderson stacked single coils, and a mid high gain hum-bucker.

What a treat this visit is! I'd been wondering about Tom Anderson's operation for a while now. One of the greatest "small" builder!
The Rolls Royce of guitars. I admire Tom Anderson Guitars since I saw Mark Knopfler performing Brothers in Arms on it.

Brilliant! Fantastic guitars and an incredible company. Thank you for showcasing their amazing work 👏
I have a 2003 s classic in ‘Ruby Slippers’. It has a big, fat 60’s vibe neck and flat out rules. It has now been my #1 for 19 years.

wow wow wow - this is something really special. I'm going to have to work extra hard so I can pick up one of those bad boys

Dang what a fun job

The best!
One of my biggest regrets was selling my TA Drop Top. I loved that guitar!

Correct me of I'm wrong. Anderson guitar and James Tyler are in the same vicinity ?

When does the serial number go on?
Is that at the beginning or just before it ships?
In other words, when is the guitar born?
