The BEST video I’ve seen on my type of hair in a decade! I’ve noticed that the LG method does work better on my hair and I’ll learn to keep it out of the sun too! I’m a water girl and will lay out all day in the sun and hair is uncovered. So Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for these tips. There were so many things I had been doing wrong for years. Took down my twist after four days and for the first time my hair was still moisturizer and had movement!
Thank you so much for all the information! What's a girl with really fine but also very low porosity to do? The ends are dry and feel unhealthy. I don't do any styling, use harsh products or anything (no-poo for 6 months!)
My hair def likes mango butter more because it is lighter! I haven't used mango butter in a while but I think I want to experiment with it more this winter!
Thank you very much. My wash day was yesterday...and horribly difficult. I usually start with deep conditioning, but I wanted to save time and not do it twice. I detangled with warm water and heavy oils for a hot oil treatment. Shampoo was SM Low Porosity. Conditioned was Giovanni 50-50. Deep conditioned with SM Raw Shea Butter fo 30 minutes. When I rinsed, my hair was very tangled even though every step my hair was sectioned and finger detangled. I also have a lot of damage from trying to comb during conditioning. I feel like I'm in a constant battle. Do you have any advice?
Sorry to hear that! I would try to skip the prepoo because I know that my low porosity hair doesn't like it at all because it leaves an oil residue and prevents my hair from absorbing moisture. Also, you may want to replace your cleanser with other products as I personally think that the SM shampoos are way too harsh and strips the hair too much. I have never tried that deep conditioner but SM products were not that moisturizing for me and a lot of their products have protein in it and I am protein sensitive so I limit the use of proteins and focus more on moisturizing products. For cleansers, I alternate between cleansing conditioners and shampoos. I use cleansing conditioners more often and my fave are DevaCurl Original No Poo and Quidad Cowash Low Lather or No Lather. They are both pricey, however, they cleanse very well without stripping your hair and without causing product buildup and they last for a very long time. When I need more of a stronger cleaner, I use the Mane Choice Hydrating Shampoo and just focus on the roots. My fave deep conditioners are the TGIN deep conditioner, Curl Junkie Deep conditioner, and I have a video with all my fave products. Hope this helps!
Ashley Polk yes forsure! Do you usually use flaxseed gel to style your hair? For my low porosity hair, I noticed that I can only apply 2 products at a time or else I will get buildup, so for wash n gos, I use a leave in and gel, and for protective styles (like braids t natural hair under a wig), I use leave in and oil, so I guess you can call that the LO method! Let me know how it works for you!
I have seen so many good things about flaxseed gel and heard it was pretty light so I wanted to try it. Oh and I heard it was packed with a lot of good things that would encourage hair growth, too! I have tried the LO method before and it worked pretty well!!
Ashley Polk I've heard so many good things as well about flaxseed gel and have been meaning to make it but I haven't made the time to do it yet! Maybe I will try it next week! It looks like a moisturizing gel but I hope it gives enough hold for my thick coarse hair!
It all depends on what you are using to wash your hair and what products are you using throughout the week. If you use a mild shampoo that doesn't strip the hair like the Mane Choice Shampoo then you could use that every week, or you can use a really good Cleansing Conditioner to wash your hair every week like the Deva Curl No Poo or the Quidad Co Wash. If you use heavier products to moisturize and style your hair throughout the week like heavy butters, creams, insoluble silicones then you may need to use a stronger shampoo more often to remove the product buildup so that you can absorb moisture, but this will strip your hair.
Yes, I do have fine hair,, and yes I'm trying to use lightweight products, but recently i tried the LG method my hair didn't get greasy but got too much frizz
Yes, because you have fine textured hair, you either have to use a ver lightweight gel, or very little gel or no gel at all. Because I have coarse textured hair, I use a heavy holding gel like Ecostyler. What gel are you using and how much of it do you use!
vanessa prempeh Hi Vanessa, I will do a video on how I grow out my hair and share tips! It's hard to say without knowing your hair characteristics! But most important thing I would suggest is to find a regimen that works for your hair and stop or limit the use of heat. Only trim your ends when they are dead, shouldn't be often if you are practicing a healthy hair care regimen. Also try protective styles like wigs to speed up your hair growth if you have coarse textured hair.

I agree with the LG method I did this before I knew I was low porosity.
Right!! Took me forever to figure that out but i'm glad I did!
Thanks so much for these tips. There were so many things I had been doing wrong for years. Took down my twist after four days and for the first time my hair was still moisturizer and had movement!
Wow good for you! My hair is in twist outs right now too and it feels more moisturized than ever! I'm so glad that my video was able to help out :)
Wow this was amazing thanks so much! I can’t wait to use these tips!

Lyda i don't understand pls tell me that how does long hair cause porosity increase?
While doing float test, my hair floats but during slip test, it has lots of bumps. I'm really confused as to what type of hair do I have. 😕
Great video on low porosity. I know shea butter is too heavy. What are you thoughts on mango butter? I hear its a lighter butter. 🙂
My hair def likes mango butter more because it is lighter! I haven't used mango butter in a while but I think I want to experiment with it more this winter!
Am grateful Lydia, will try and see if it will work for me
Hope it works love! :)

That's a concern of mine, too! I don't want it to look good for a couple hours and then turn into a frizzy mess!
Ashley Polk I hope it turns out good!! Pls let me know how it goes!
Great presentation! You really made the info clear and easy understand. Thank you!! :)
So is washing hair every week healthy for low porosity hair, because i thought that it wasn't since washing strips the hair

I made the porosity test and i found that i have low porosity, but my hair always feel greasy from roots to ends even if i following this advices !
