That opening scene is a direct shot for shot remake from the movie Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone 😂
Mouth to mouth bird feeding included
I know it was so great. 😂😅😅
My wife did not know that when I brought it up one night. So I showed the clips from UA-cam. She was rolling when the woman died in Cliffhanger. I sat there confused as when that came out that was very sad. But I have to remember she had zero connection to that movie lol
Never understood why the raccoon was making monkey noises.
Except not a raccoon.
Oh man, people in the theater LOST THEIR MINDS at the rhino scene. To this day, 27 years later, that was the hardest I’ve heard an audience laugh in a packed theater , bar none
I remember seeing people stepping out of the theater because they were laughing so hard. One of my favorite theater experiences
I believe it qualifies as the funniest moment in film history.
@@fishpierce7851 the dads reaction gets me every time he’s like “the guys at work are NOT gonna believe this”
- For me the Rhino was funny, however the biggest nearly wet myself moment in Jim Carey Comedy, was when he was in the News Room, in Bruce Almighty making Evan speak Gibberish ... I thought I was gonna die I was laughing so hard and the friend next to me was covering their ears I was laughing so loud.
Same here. My friend and I couldn’t breathe, we were laughing so hard. This wasn’t as good as the first movie, but that scene killed me.
I always lose it when he is holding the short man with the monocle. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. 😂😂😂
Fun Fact: When Ace Ventura starts singing "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" while he's driving, that was improvised. Jim Carrey forgot his lines, just started singing instead and they used it in the movie.
Also, no matter how many times I watch the rhino scene, I always end up laughing my ass off.
"Kind of hot in these rhinos."
I say it entirely too much.
@@DJKuroh Yep. Same.
Interesting enough, the whole "shadow puppets via projector" was also improvised. Jim pointed out that the scene was partially planned, there was something around eight or nine different takes of it, each one completely different, and that he had to do entirely new versions since everyone else kept breaking character.
@@bricky63b really? Maybe it's just me with the toot sweets and, when he and she almost had the head on collision, the gentle squeeze on the hooter comment...
The beginning scene was a joke at the beginning of the Sylvester Stallone movie "cliff hanger""
It’s funny how Ace mentions The Shawshank Redemption because Bob Gunton (Burton Quinn) is the warden in that movie.
That rhino scene is one of the best moments in cinematic history
FUN FACT: many of the more memorable scenes, such as the "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", "Monopoly Guy" and "Shadow Puppet Projector" were largely improvised, half the time because he either forgot his lines, forgot where they were in the script or just found the original script outright boring. On several occasions, Jim Carrey would tell the Director that he had thoughts about the script, but not warn coworkers about said improv just so he could see their genuine reactions.
Liar liar is another great Jim Carrey movie.
Be sure to watch the bloopers after the credits.
Great suggestion for them.
It's really not. Liar Liar is one of his worst movies. So much over-acting from him in that
@@adamclifton29 you are crazy
Liar liar is a REALLY awesome movie too, you will like it a LOT!!!!
Tommy Davidson as the "The Tiny Warrior" after spending years with Carey on In Living Color was such a natural fit. Such a beautiful and metaphoric movie. Though some people still need the ability to separate reality from fiction.
He’s great in Woo.
@@tempsitch5632 and booty call
@@TheConnonedrum Yup. Actually funnier than Jamie in that.
Cream corn in Black Dynamite!!!
Dang I forgot that Jim Carrey was in In living color. I haven't seen that show in years 😂
Fun fact: the first “bad guy“ with the bird on his shoulder is also the warden in Shawshank redemption. Ace says Shawshank redemption in the movie.
My dad was an extra in this movie. He was at a chamber of commerce cocktail party, and a casting director came up and introduced herself, told him she liked his "look," and asked him if he owned a tuxedo. He lied and said, "yes." Rented the tux, drove to the plantation, and can be seen in two scenes: approaching the outdoor buffet table with a classy woman on his arm as he gestures towards it; and in the "monopoly guy" scene, up on the balcony (told to react with "disgust" during Jim's antics). They filmed a good portion of it in the "jungles" surrounding Charleston. He laughed when he informed us that the cost of gas, plus the tuxedo rental, cut his earnings back to "1950s pay in 1990s dollars;" but at least he got to be in a movie. And a damned handsome man he was; looked good on camera.
What a great experience, thanks for sharing!!
@@kenpaden You're welcome; it is one of the favorite family stories.
The opening sequence was an homage to "Cliffhanger".
EDIT: The wing thing was an homage to William Shatner's Twilight Zone episode "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet".
Stinky little friend was the homage to "Scarface".
The monk giving away his medallion had me crying the first time I watched this.
"There is someone on the wing" is a reference to a Twilight Zone episode in which William Shatner ("Captain Kirk") played a role. Jim Carey impersonated the acting style of Shatner. In a movie remake from the 80s John Lithgow was the one seeing "someone".
I have to admit that even though you'd say he had seen "someone" I would not classifie the thing in that movie as a someone but more as a what in the actual fuck is that 😂
And in Jordan Peele's 2019 Twilight Zone remake Adam Scott played the main role with a modern twist
@@Orangeflava I hadn’t heard of that one! Was it the TV series hosted by Forest Witacker, or did Jordan Peele make a Twilight Zone movie, kinda like the one that came out in the 1980’s?
The Shatner episode was from the original black and white Twilight Zone TV show in 1963. Season 5 Episode 3. The Lithgow scene was from the 1983 movie version of Twilight Zone.
@@rray848 Shatner was good but I thought Lithgow did such an amazing job in that role. Funny and terrifying at the same time.
Jim Carrey is one of the best comedians ever, but he really shines as a dramatic actor. If you haven’t seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, you’ve gotta. 😊
- I personally think his best serious role was " 23 "
@@Arthaius ooh I’ve never heard of that movie, I gotta look it up. Thank you!
@@ksanben - Trust me, it's really REALLY good, and so interesting seeing Jim Carey not being the funny guy. I think he cracked a small joke or two near the begining, but not anything big, and compared to " 23 " The Truman Show was a gut buster Comedy
Jim Carrey played the Riddler in Batman Forever before this movie so when seeing Ace talk about the bat it was hilarious
YEEEES... Slinky scene is the funniest thing EVER. That scene alone set up this ENTIRE movie.
Haha wth?
The Mask is a must watch. One of his best for physical comedy.
That rhino scene should have won an Oscar.
You should do the Austin Powers movie trilogy next…my favorite comedy trilogy with lots of memorable jokes, gags and characters!
I think they'd love Austin Powers...
They will love Austin Powers
Yeah, baby, yeah
Oh, behave.
Except the 3rd one they are great
I really recommend watching "The Truman Show", which shows a more dramatic side to Jim Carrey and is one of his best films. "Liar, Liar" and "The Mask" are also great comedies of his that are really funny. I also hope you get back to watching more John Candy movies soon. "The Great Outdoors" and "Summer Rental" are classics
He's also good as the Riddler In Batman Forever
The Rhino scene is the funniest scene in the whole movie, never fails to make me laugh. 😂
The fight/spears to the thighs wins it for me.
When I say "waaarrrm" it sounds just like him in my head.
@@hakaigonzalez7253 It’s in the bone…it’s in the BONE!!!
The scene with tommy Davidson is also iconic ,😅 he sounded like a rabid hyena
I had this movie on VHS as a kid and I will never forget the hours of entertainment it provided for me and my brother during that time, I hope you both had an incredible time with this one like we did
still got it on VHS lol recorded it myself from the tv when I was like 7, the good old days when the vhs systems came with a recording button LOL because im guessing piracy didnt exist? lol
Lol we used to watch it on my friends van that had one of them little vhs/tvs 😂
Shout out to the cats that had to Rewind the tape to re-watch the flick
@@johncarpenter3751 yeah I remember those days of rewinding Good Burger and Hercules over and over to watch them again
Same.
In fact I remember having a really high quality pirate copy of this which was a rarity back in the VHS days.
The Wachootoo champion is Tommy Davidson, who co-starred with Jim back on In-Living Color.
Ouda makes this my favorite of the two. He delivers his lines with such glee, even when delivering terrible news.
The "Throw me a spear!" gets me every time. 🤣🤣🤣
The shadow puppet scene always cracks me up
"There's someone on the wing." - William Shatner, The Twilight Zone
Btw, when he says “There’s someone on the wing of this plane!”, that is a reference to an old classic Twilight Zone episode with William Shatner in it.
The movie "The Mask" was one of Jim Carrey's first big hits. It is a hilarious movie.
The "There's someone on the wing" line was a reference to an episode of the Twilight Zone title "Terror at 20,000 feet."" It stared William Shatner, his character, and only his character saw a gremlin/creature on the wing damaging the plane. This was later remade for the Twilight Zone movie with John Lithgow.
The part where he sings the Song Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ( from the movie of the Same name) was completely improvised
Jim Carrey improvised the whole car scene and the song. If u see the other guy closely he was trying not to laugh. Such a funny movie.
I grew up watching Ace Ventura so this hits home😂
The set of scenes when he's in the consulate for the first time always gets me. The Monopoly Guy, Hi Ho Silver, Lovely Room of Death - all gold
Jim Carey is a genius. ❤ I adore both Ace Ventura movies and quote them almost daily!! And yes, Truman Show is a must!! Love you guys, love the channel. 😊💛
I could relieve you of your fears of birds and snakes (I was a wildlife educator for decades, plus a zookeeper and manager.) I just have a phobia of children.
Ace Ventura When Nature Calls and Dumb and Dumber shaped my entire comedy foundation. 😂😂😂😂
My wife just mentioned this movie yesterday that we saw when it first came out. She was talking about how funny it was and the scenes
You asked me to watch and I said....ALLLLLL RIGHTY THEN!
Liar Liar and The Truman Show are two of Jim Carrey's best in my opinion. I hope that you can check them out soon. They aren't as slapstick silly as the Ace Ventura movies, they each have a bit more heart to them but he is still his silly self in each one and there are plenty of laughs to be had.
Sorry Jay, but you absolutely must watch “the birds“. It is utterly a classic.
Absolutely Jordan you must watch the birds. I will be honest I am terrified of birds , terrified , their little wiry feet and beaks to peck things never mind must watch the Birds and join the rest of us. I can see birds outside and feed them.
Yes Jay, you have to watch The Birds. I know you don’t like them, but this movie is a classic Hitchcock film. You really liked Psycho, you will definitely appreciate this one.
Was just gonna say-the ultimate horror film for Jay!
He should watch Birdemic first. That will put him in a mood where he can get over his fear of birds by laughing at them fist.
and Amber should watch Anaconda.
Bats are cool. They love to be pet like a dog, and keep bugs like mosquitoes down in population. My friend had a bat that would go out every night, and then come back and sleep in its cage. They are smarter and more social than people realize.
I love the flying foxes-I follow a YT in Australia that does rescues. They're like puppies 😊
I do believe that Jim film this movie right after filming Batman Forever, where he plays the Riddler. And that’s why he hates bats.
Says who lol
The “theres someone on the wing! Some thing!” Is a twighlight zone episode that was also remade for the 80’s/90’s movie. Its probably my favorite twighlight zone episode lol
I remember seeing this movie at a theater as a kid, and I was laughing non-stop throughout this movie. From "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" while driving recklessly to the "Monopoly' guy to the shadow figure presentation scene to the final battle with the Tiny Warrior. And like everybody else in the theater, we all lost it at the rhino scene.
13:29 To be fair there are a lot of bird lovers too. I used to sit and half my lunch break with a blue feathered raven and a murder of crows. They'd hang out, check me out, we'd eat. I called him big dog, because he was twice the size of the crows, but he'd just sit on the bench next to me, then fly up and go on sentry duty when he was done eating. Smart animals.
People call bats, rats with wings, but they honestly look more like a breed of dog with wings. Some of em are kinda cute... But, anything with erratic flying patterns gets me. I don't like butterflies. I know. I know. They just bug the crap out of me the way they randomly dart around.
Bats are super cute! I love watching them fly around in the summer above us eating the pesky bugs!
But what I do know from visiting zoos- they’re super stinky! 😂
So you don't like dragonflies either?
@@ITPalGame Anything that flies in an erratic pattern i'm not keen on.
Dragonflys are a little different. When they're smaller they irk me, but the bigger ones don't bother me as they tend to move slower through the air.
@@artsysabs Yeah, when I first stumbled across some of the bat rescue vids on YT, I was surprised at how cute and dog-like the fruit bats actually are. Before that, whenever I thought about bats, I think I was always picturing vampire bats (the ones with the more squashed in faces and pig-like snouts). Those are a little creepy lookin' but fruit bats are super cute and seem kind of awesome.
I love this movie and the first one! The rino scene is my favorite ever! I laughed so hard! And I still laugh hard over it! Lol 😂 Me and my siblings quote a whole lot of lines from this movie and the first one often!
That shadow puppet scene was the hardest I've ever laughed in my life, when I saw it in the theater. I literally fell out of my chair laughing and was afraid I was going to pass out because I couldn't catch my breath.
The “someone on the wing” thing during the plane ride is a reference to the twilight zone episode “Nightmare at 20,000 feet”.
Me, Myself and Irene is one of Jim Carreys' movies that can still make me smile just thinking about some scenes. He plays a guy that is very sweet, but when he forgets his medication he turns into this extremely rude person. It's very very funny.
IMO it was that and Bruce almighty where Jim “peeked” for me
He was cool in the sonic movies tho
Yes! Me, Myself and Irene is his most under appreciated movie. It’s a crime how much that movie flew under the radar
Me, Myself and Irene- Is my favourite from jim, hes never not at his best, but this one is such a classic with so many memorable scene LOL
Yes… Me, Myself and Irene is the most under appreciated Jim Carrey movie.
It’s a crime how much that movie flew under the radar
Milky 😂
@@crtmojo2705 Casper, but his friends call him whitey 😉
@@crtmojo2705 the real OG
The little guy that Ace Ventura fights in the circle of death name is Tommy Davidson. They were together on in living color and he was also the voice of tamone in the lion king.
The opening was a parody of the 1994 Stallone film Cliffhanger. Another must watch film.
Great to see you both, I hope that you're fully recovered very soon, Jay.
The next Jim Carrey films to react to is, 'The Mask' from 1994, it's a great film which I'm sure you, Jay and Amber will really enjoy.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the Mask, Dumb and Dumber all came out in 1994. Did you know that?
@@nsasupporter7557 No, I didn't realise that, that's a great bit of trivia, thanks for letting me know.
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. you’re welcome ☺️
Yes, his career took off faster than any other movie star’s career did.
No other big actor had 3 movies come out the same year and all be number 1 at the box office when they were just starting out like Jim Carrey did… not even Tom Cruise had that much success when he was just starting off either
This is one of those rare sequels that is better then the original. At least in my opinion, this movie is iconic. I use to watch this movie when I was younger, laughed so hard it made me cry. The whole white devil parts are so hilarious, and the part where he gets super mad about his hair and you think he is about to kick some butt. lol
"Someone on the wing" is a reference to the classic Twilight Zone episode Terror At 20,000 Feet. The original version was William Shatner and a later remake featured John Lithgow.
Not only is if referenced here but both Shatner and Lithgow reference it together in an episode of Third Rock From The Sun
The delivery is pure Shatner though, hehe.
And Me Myself and Irene plus Dumb and Dumber , it just gets better .
28:01 - You missed the joke. Ace pushed the dude onto the hot coals and simply walked on the guys back
Way better than the first. I love absurdity. Like a glove. ❤
He said: It is the mucus that bind us 😂😂
the man with the raven on his shoulder was the warden Mr Norton from
The Shawshank Redemption.
The writer and director of this movie also did Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, an excellent and VERY silly comedy made by creatively editing and dubbing some classic kung fu movies.
You hit the jackpot of comedies with this one. Bravo 👏
The something on the wing was a parody from a Twighlight Zone episode when William Shatner was a guest star.
Been scrolling Facebook, IG, Snap, all that and I get this notification! Thank godddd y'all just took my boredom away.
lol, First scene was a spoof of Cliffhanger( Stallone's movie)
Thanks guys for this reaction!! Ace Ventura is such a classic! I always die laughing at the Monopolie scene when Ace puts that man on his shoulders 😂😂 a well balanced Jim Carrey movie with comedy and a more serious side of him are Liar Liar, and Bruce Almighty and ofcourse the Trueman show...
"Do Not Pass Go Do Not Collect $200"😂😂😂
I wonder if they even got that… have even played Monopoly before?
in the fight scene with the little guy, the little guy was one of Jim's co star from IN LIVING COLOR
So damn funny y’all!!!! SHIKAKA!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
SHIIIIKAAAKAAA!!

Great movie. I love your reactions. You should watch There's something about Mary.
No, that movie sucked. It was decent at best… and I’m actually being polite
@@nsasupporter7557 I'd you think that movie sucked, you are either an absolute moron or have no sense of humor!!!
That is one of the funniest movies I ever seen! I have a feeling you are a young person, and get offended by certain comedy, and those are the worst people on earth (they always want attention and ruin the mood in a room)!!!
Jim Carrey was in a sci-fi/musical in the late 80's titled 'Earth Girls Are Easy', alongside Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, Damon Wayans, and Julie Brown. It's pretty funny/ campy.
My first introduction to Jim I had such a teenage crush 😊
4:01 Scene from CLIFFHANGER with Sly Stallone. LOL
23 is a psychological thriller, with Jim Carey in the lead. I was very surprised by his performance, an underrated movie IMHO.
Also, "Yes Man" with Jim Carey is my favourite comedy of his, though that's a hard-fought battle.
I have been scrolling the comments to see if anyone would mention this movie, "The Number 23". I thought that was a great movie and was starting to think it was just me lol.
@@namechangedtoprotecttheinn6051, I did the same thing before I made my comment. I should have looked up the up the actual title.
The rhino gag is simply brilliant 😂😂
The rhino scene had me crying and laughing as teenager watching this movie when it came out.
The actor who played Quinnn also played the warden in Shawshank Redemption. The rhino scene and the scene with the Monopoly guy are so hilarious. Your next Jim Carrey movie needs to be "Dumb and Dumber." It is my favorite comedy movie.
The best movie, so funny. One of my favourites. It isn't very often that the second movie is better than the first.
Great reaction video as always! ❤
Ace ventura is such a funny character!
I highly recommend Liar Liar, The Mask and Bruce Almighty for Jim Carey movies. All great (if you havent done so already). Love watching your reaction videos! 😊
*You guys* if you're wondering about that weird opening, that was lifted directly from "Cliffhanger.", which would be an excellent reaction action movie.
The critics missed the boat on this one. Carrey is so manic in this that it rises to performance art.
YOU GUYS ARE COOL! THANK YOU FOR FREE REACTIONS! ROCK AND ROLL!
This movie is a rarity in that it is SO much funnier than the first. This was always one of my go to movies if I was feeling down or had just watched something REALLY sad. The other go to movie was, of course, Dumb and Dumber.
Agreed, I find it too be funnier and just better over all than the first one
You know it’s good when I thought forever that this one WAS the first movie, cuz it was so much more enjoyable than the actual first
@@artsysabs you are underselling how brilliant the first film was
I disagree, but to each his own.
When he started singing on that off road scene that was not in the script that let him improvise
The “hi-ho silver away!!” will always crack me up
In so many ways i find this movie so much funnier and better than the first one. This is Jim Carrey at his peak imo.
This movie is one of two comedic movies that hold a very fond place in my heart for me and my Dad.
The first time me and my dad watched this movie, when it got to the part where Ace climbs naked out of the rhino, me and my dad laughed so hard we we both crying, it was one of the funniest things we had ever seen.
The only other movie to ever make us laugh that hard was The 5th Element, when Ruby Rhod is screaming as the explosions go off. Comic gold.
When he says, "and thou shalt be saved", I think he was doing an impression of Charlton Heston (The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur (best actor in a leading role 1960), had an appearance in Austin Powers, etc).
Jim needs to play Ace Ventura one more time ! 1 more movie. The hope is not lost.
Time to react to The Mask :)
At 9:00 she says "shikaka"... if this is a first time watch.. how does she know that word??? He doesnt say that until later
The Rhino scene 😭😭😭😭😭😭 lol 😂😂
Commitment for Jim Carrey for every movie project is immense. This man is pure talent.
7:28 _"He said there's someone on the wing."_ ✈️ He's actually referencing a very famous *_Twilight Zone_* episode *'The Horror at 37,000 Feet'.*
I highly recommend trying to get a best of _The Twilight Zone_ list from some viewers and checking out a handful of episodes. There are just so many that are iconic and just so well known by virtually everybody.
Twilight Zone - The Movie has the same story. Also worth a watch.
Dumb & Dumber is still the best comedy movie ever made. Way better then Ace Ventura.
I don’t know about that
I can see our boy J, quoting Ventura to his chillins.
Cliffhanger parody, that was hilarious!
Hey guys how about a reaction for Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, & Bernie Mac in the comedy/drama- Life?
Please give the STAR TREK franchise a chance. 🖖
