helmet needs more stickers
Got the same device from "gearbest.com". Had it for 6 months only.
One issue that no one addresses is that charging and headphone-mic jack port is common. after repeated charging cycles the charging um headphone-mic got deteriorated. I have read, seen multiple reviews for this device, but not even a single person mentioned this problem. What should I conclude from that(were those reviews paid?).
One thing I must admit is that the quality of the sound during calls is as good as any other branded Bluetooth intercom. at 60mph(~100 kmph), the person i was talking to couldn't tell that i was on a bike.
But don't expect audiophile quality for listening your favorite music. audio quality of songs being played was even worse to some of the basic(generic) headphones. You cant even tell if the mids are being played on it.
Battery life is good. A month before throwing it into the garbage (before the charging/headphone jack deteriorated because of repeated insertion and removal of charging and headphone-mic cable ), I played songs for 4 continuous hours before the battery died.
My conclusion is that this is a purpose built device made primarily for using you phone to make and take calls while riding. Other then that don't expect anything from it. And at they price at which they are being offered, its enough for them.
But my point is that the device is not good if it lasts only for short period of time. most of the e-commerce companies are getting the same device from Chinese manufacturers. Who ever made this device and other devices like this, should have added separate ports for charging and headphone connection. That's the main and my only gripe with this device.
Ever since I have been searching for other Bluetooth intercom device like this which is waterproof and has separate ports for charging and headphone connection, but haven't found anything yet. Every other china made Bluetooth intercom is based on the same concept
Thanks for the review. Have you found an alternative China-made BT intercom that works a bit better?
www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N3Z5WUS Hope it can help you.
Mahipal Yadav agreed man! I am facing the same problem. I dont know if i should get another one or not. Is this compatible with the Sena? While using intercom?
Well it definitely looks good compared to the Sena but I've got the 20s and love it!
Only question I still have.... Will it communicate with a Sena, or only another BTS2?
Why didn't you let us listen to a sample of the audio?
I bought this about 4 months ago and I love it! The biggest thing for me is the FM radio. At first I was like "Oh, that's a cool feature I guess but I probably won't ever use it." I was wrong, I use the radio pretty much every time I ride. Audio can be a little quiet for highway speeds if you have a windy dual sport helmet such as myself but I can still hear it. I used the velcro mount and so mine comes right off to charge separate from my helmet. Intercom between two of these is also excellent. I convinced a friend to get the same one and we were shocked how much of the wind and engine noise it reduced. This device cannot however have you talking to three people. Only two people can talk at a time. If this is not a problem for you I would very highly suggest this communicator for everyday use or long trips. Yammie hit a lot of the points, I just wanted to second his opinions.
Great info!
hi. if im only interested in playing mp3 through my phone at highway speeds, is it good enough? i usually have my earplugs in so i assume itd have to be at least a little loud
zerouzer I haven't had any problems, It depends on your bike, your helmet, and your ability to hear!
At 70-80mph the music is audible with earplugs although not particularly loud or crisp. Works fine for background music, not so well for podcasts or talk radio.
It really shines in 10-40mph traffic! It makes the slow parts of my commute much more bearable.
Have you happened to figure out a way to make it louder? I'm having trouble with the audio as well.
I am currently using another cheap Chinese headset called FREEDCOM where I can use the Bluetooth audio and input in my Garmin Virb Ultra 30 without the need of any cables. I hate cables. Can I do this the same way with this headset?
charging port will fail after 4 months. I've been through 3 already
Had same problem with mine
Same here, mine lasted about 3 weeks
Ollie styles I hope you have been sending back the faulty ones for a refund, otherwise you'd be better off with a Sena XD I got tired of having those problems and bought a SMH5 and now I'm saving for another one for the wifey... the difference in build quality is pretty obvious, starting from having different ports for charging and for the audio. Also the audio connectors seem really sturdy.
Then there's all the features available in the Sena. In my opinion, these cheap intercoms are a good temporary solution (they will only work a few months anyway) but I would only buy them from a store where I could return them when they fail, because they will.
Tristão East Camara I contacted the seller (in China) who told me to send it back, it wasn't really worth the postage /wait, just ordered an smh10
I bought mine from Amazon, so they fully refunded me, including postage and all
I've had THREE of these and they all die the same. You start by losing your mic, then audio on one side, then the other. The fault lies with a small piece in the plug that moves ever so slightly. I've learnt how to open them and repair it but it's a major hassle. I've literally glued it with super glue last time but it just started failing again today.
Is it only used for communicating ?
ordering 3 of these - thank you for keeping your review relatively short and to the point.
great review, looks like an awesome low budget option
how is the intercom function supposed to work?? is the "intercom" simply a phone call? the devices are pared, the phones are pared , but I haven't found anything that tells me how the intercom works
Awesome vid man I honestly would watch more product reviews. and the piano music makes me feel like I am of a higher class love it! time to bust out the wine and cheese
digging up the past..... have you tried HELMCHAT or DISCORD apps? can you test a good communicator and a good loud budget minded communicator or test the apps with CARDO to SENA? just giving you more content to do and help me. please help, why not. might be the push to get followers to turbo the BUSA!
Too many things not covered to compare.
Does it do voice commands?
Can you talk with all three people on intercom at the same time?
Noise canceling?
Do you have to Push to Talk like.on some cheap communicators?
Are replacement parts available?
Vendor support?
I use a Sena 10R. It is super low profile and small with three easy to locate buttons.
That thing (and the SMH10) is huge. I only ride dirt bikes. That big of unit would likely get ripped off of my helmet when cutting through trees and face slappers.
I will stick with the Sena low profile units.
I had a pair of these bought from amazon and they both stopped working properly roughly after 4 months. The problem I had was with the phones/mic connector that stopped making contact. I know that was the problem because when the pillion would adjust the plug eventually we would listen each other again. But eventually they stopped working at all and I sent them back to Amazon for a full refund. Anyone had the same problem with these from GearBest? I'm considering getting one for the pillion and a SMH5 for myself...
I've never used one of these.. but yammie you mention "at speed and with earplugs in"? Does this mean you can still hear the speakers with ear plugs in place? If so, I'll purchase one via your link and give it a try! Thanks for any replies!
Hi,
Does this intercom connects Sena device???
do you know? womdering
Yes, the Sena connects to this VIA Sena's Universal Pairing
I know in your video, you said it can pair with three people, but gearbests site only states two rider pairing... can you confirm it's three-way? I've got to friends and we're all students and need a cheap communicator for three people. we don't have the money for a big pack talk set
Was the Eu and US plug difference having to do with the wall outlet plug? I'm assuming i want the U.S. plug?
Tony Krause the us wallplug/outlet is two flat metal pieces while the eu one has two round metalpieces
great video yammie! I've been looking for a cheap alternative, you know because I'm a baller on a budget 😂 keep up the good work brother!
I'm going to do an 18 hour ride shortly. You talked about charging but can I charge this while riding should die in route with a USB??
Do still use the sena today? Ore do you use something else by now.
I’m looking for a pair for me and my YL.
Do you need call someone to talk or can you hook up 2 smh10 with each other?????? Without calling
I got myself one of these for xmas and been riding with it since mid January. Was great till this last week the main port on the device(where the charger and headset plug in) started acting up and then stopped working. Other than that, it's been fine. Voice calls are very good even at high speed. I have both a quiet sport bike and a loud dual pipe cruiser. I hear people loud and clear. People I have talked to can't hear any back ground noise when I'm on the sport bike. When I'm on the cruiser they can hear the pipes in the background, but it's only 1/4 the volume of my voice. For $40, I just ordered it again. Can't beat that price.
I tried that com unit and it is such total trash, doesn't even get good audio when paired with the second unit that came in the box. Makes me wonder if that Sena is actually worth looking into.
is this a standalone solution to communicate? if i buy two of these units can they talk with teach other like walkie-talkies, or do I connect to a phone and then actually call the other person through my phone?
Can someone point me to an online version of the user manual. I have misplaced mine and can't seem to pair my intercom with a friends vnetphone intercom ( www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017R1C1R4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). His can connect to mine and start the communication and the call is set up fine but I cant seem to initiate it from my side using my intercom button. Has someone come across a similar issue?
It has AM radio? I have not seen that advertised elsewhere. That'd be good for baseball games around here.
1 person can connect with 2 others? or 1 person can connect with 3 others> I should buy 3 or 4?
Trash i have two to buy....40.00 if anyone wants......volume is too low....
Hello Guys. Will I be able to connect this with a Nolan N-com Communicator in another helmet ?
Stupid question but does the radio use bluetooth? I would love to use one of these but BT fries my brain cant use it
How did you get the Tascam DR-05 to work; plugged mine in but when I test it I can hardly hear the playback. Any input would be useful. Cheers.
Just ordered a pair through your link to try out. Your affiliate link defaults to the EU plug, but when I switched to the US plug the "Promo ends in .... " text disappears. Hope you get credit for my order!
Will this communicate with sena and cardo for a passenger communicator?
Its a shame no one makes something like a go pro with all the features of a communicator.
GOT MINE! Awesome review BTW, I really needed something for my helmet
can you listen to mp3s from your phone and have a conversation ? (auto pause/mute while talking ? )
That Bluetooth is trash man it breaks and the charging / headset port is what makes it trash
hello does it group talk 3 people at the same time ?? plz i want to buy 3 but i have to know this
Asking idol can record the audio from intercom to gopro mic adapter?
A company called Gearbest XD Classic
Wow, 200+ people are following your link and you JUST posted it. Congrats to you!
If you take the link that you posted (a Goo.gl link) and add the plus sign '+' to the end like so (goo.gl/Jttob2+) it gives you analytics on the link. I love Goo.gl shortlinks for that.
Great review. Might have been a good idea to sample the mic audio for the viewers
You should do more reviews dude 👍🏼
So I could connect this to my phone via Bluetooth for music and communicate with a riding buddy at the same time? How are the speakers for music audio?
It looks like the bottom port is exposed to the elements, is that correct?
To the people who can't afford this. Goto Google play store and type in Android intercom and download the 3 blue Dots one. You're welcome
+nagarjun madhusudan You rock! But you forgot to mention that it is FREE.
Thanx dude! Do you know the Bluetooth range with this app? Usually smart phones don't have more than a few meters of range.
+Kristian G the range on Bluetooth is 50 meters but the voice clarity goes down substantially but if you try the wifi Hotspot one it'll get increased to 75 meters or 3 car lengths and better voice quality due to increased bandwidth
+Bobby Bob happy to help m8
+nagarjun madhusudan thanx, you're the man!
Can I use the aux cable and the mic to record 2 mics at the same time?
What about those "6Rider" Intercoms that you can get for about 35€ a piece? They seem to have pretty good reviews aswell!
Link?
heads up, the link you put in the description is only for the EU plug version. When you change it the the US plug, you won't get a commission. I'll hold off ordering to see if you can get it fixed.
OK, good. Thanks!
how do they do in the rain.. are you supposed to take them off?
so can this thing only communicate with other BTS2s? or can it communicate with any other device? im not keen on how these things work haha. this is exactly what im looking for but would i still be able to use it if my buddies have Senas?
***** sick this looks like its gonna b e the answer to my problems! Haha thanks man! When i get one ill be sure to use your link! Keep it up bro!!
Mini B 8 IS IT THE CABLE TO CHARGE IT AND NOT Type C ?
I bought this in order to be able to make phone calls while I'm riding. It doesn't do that. You can only dial the last number dialed. You can redial. That's it. You can't activate "ok google" or siri or whatever using this, is that right? As much as I've tried and tried to figure it out, it doesn't seem to have the capability. I need to be able to call other people besides the last one dialed so basically this headset is useless to me.
Yes, you can make calls by activating "Ok Google." I just got this for the main purpose of communicating with my phone while riding for making or answering phone calls, navigation, etc. I have it paired with an Android phone and am running the Android Auto app while riding. On my phone I open the Android Auto settings and choose to activate "OK Google" from any screen. Then while you're riding you only have to say "OK Google" into the mic and then tell it to call anyone in your contact list or any phone number. Or tell it to give you directions to any location. Seems to work fine. There may be other ways to do it too, I'm not sure. I just got this and haven't gotten it totally figured out yet.
I was really hoping for some video footage from your track day but I like the reviews idea. Lots of moto vloggers do reviews but idk, maybe its because you seem to not give a damn what anyone thinks that makes you seem the most honest and unbiased moto vlogger
Looking forward to it bro
Can this communicate with Sena
I've been meaning to get something of the sort for the longest while now. I feel left out without a communicator. Thanks for pushing me over the edge, Yam! :D
Sen-A, not See-Na!
Well done, fair & balanced review. Do you use an external mic with your set up for vlogs? I purchased the Sena bluetooth audio pack (which slaps onto the back of the gopro). Wondering if you use it and have had any problems with it. Thanks.
Damn! Love the honesty at the beginning. Good review, and I think you hit it on the head with this com. Using it as a secondary com for a passenger sounds pretty good.
Will this also connect with sena and other intercoms ?
Problem with the budget intercom systems is volume on the highway. I'm not bashing them, they are great for what you pay for and I used one for over an year it was dead reliable and never gave me a problem.
I have a Sena now and honestly it's worth the extra money you would pay. My advice is to pick up a used sena and pick up one of these as a cheap second unit like Yammi said for a passenger.
Where is the link for the product ?
When I click your link it goes to the option with the EU Plug. I am guessing it is the type of plug to go to the power outlet right? I want to get 2 US Plug versions but I am not sure if the affiliate link will work if I change it over to the US plug. Any idea?
Awesome! Thanks.
Can you pair it to any other intercom system?
My only gripe with your review is you are reviewing it to old technology. Unfortunately, I'm sure that's all you had to compare it too, but would have preferred it being compared to modern stuff if you are arguing an alternative. Either way, I know a lot of effort was put into the video and appreciate the straight forward announcement about being an affiliate.
Can the bts2 talk to the sena and other brands?
I brought it today and I have no idea how to pair it to my mates one same model and everything please somebody help me
Turn them both off. Then turn them on and keep pressing until the light flashes red and blue and release them. They should find each other.
Just picked up the Cardo PackTalk. Friends who ride swear by it and it pairs with anything bluetooth.
Are you a producer?
Can you pair this with a smh5?
Can you just listen to music on it?
Can you take the mic off ?
My Sena headsets both stopped being recognized by the device manager and just couldn't get updates. The music sharing thing has NEVER worked and most of the features are pretty sketchy as far as whether they actually work. Sena also basically told me to bugger off because I'm out of warranty. For what these units cost me, this is a really garbage reason to have to replace them. Fuck Sena.
Can i ise siri on iphone with it?
Do they only connect to the same product or will I be able to talk to someone with a SENA? All my riding buddy's have sena's but I don't have the budget.
The website says you need the same communicator, so it does work with a Sena? My friend already has a Sena, so if it does not work it's a waste of $40. So it does in fact work?
Yammie Noob hey man how did you connect your bts2 to a SENA
Hi , I see that nobody ask this....I have a very loud bike and BT-S2 headset is useless, I can't hear anything... The problem is that BT-S2 doesn't have classic micro USB port, co I can't use any gadget to connect normal 3,5 mm in ear headphones with micro USB extension.. Because BT-S2 have some strange micro USB port. Also I can't find some in ear headsetswith the extension that is existing in BT-S2.. Do you have some idea about this issue? Thanks!
Holy shit he has a face lol
hey yammie the link is broke... Just letting you know.
Does it connect to the Sena?
*My Review:* I bought two. Pros: Easy to install, looks good, has radio, good price. Cons: Volume was not high enough to be heard once wind hits you. Phone calls by bluetooth are a bit choppy. Pairing the two devices in my case only worked for one day. Now I can't seem to get them to pair again. It's really frustrating. It might just be a one-off... but I'm quite disappointed.
*Update:* I've solved the issue. If you have two headsets and they are not pairing, turn off any other bluetooth devices in the area before pairing. Should solve that issue. Okay, feeling much better about the purchase now!
I have a question, for you guys, ill guess you don't have voice commands? I mean like , hey Siri do that or call x etc, and another thing, can you here your waze or google maps instructions from your phone into your bts?? I'll buy the thing if at least your can here your waze Hahaha
Yeah, I don't think that it has that ability, at least not that I found
Couldn't find your affiliate link in the description🤷🏾♂️but I got one
And I was JUST about to buy Senas that I can't afford. Nice timing Yammie. Just bought 2 and, of course, made sure to use your link. You're the best!
I'm also going to be getting an FZ-09 soon, which you may or may not have helped influence.
have you tried sena 10s or 20s? I am not sure if I should get sena, I own this BT-S2, the sound is ok, but I am not sure if Sena sound will be louder a not. as the speaker for the BT-S2 30mm compared to Sena 20S 39mm.
Where's the link??
I'll give it a shot!
Is it still working?
Did anyone else have trouble with fitting the ear pieces in their helmet? Once I put the ear speakers in there's no longer enough room for my ears. Maybe cause I have an older helmet???
I get this since 2 month.
Great for only music, quality is good for this price. Installation is easy. But buttons are very hard to touch with gloves, and not very responsive, I have no feeling to touch buttons... At high speed the volume is enough strong to be hear.
The autonomy is very good ! Used them during 3-4h, and one time forget to shut it down during the night .... and it was working at the morning !
The only thing I don't have success is the intercom mode....I have never suceed to pair it with another intercom of my friend (of another brand), the BT stay on bluetooth mode and haven't a "search mode"...Is this only for 2 same intercom ?
Hey Yammie, nice bluetooth comm alternative suggestion.
I'd like to ask, how do you actually record your motovlogs? I tried connecting the aux between my Sena 10S with my action camera, but it doesn't seem to record any audio. Is the dedicated audio recorder a must?
Meh, I think you can just ignore the question, got the answer from one of your vid in the suggestion playlist. Hahaha
@@captainjack1029 What's the video or how do you do it?
@@thumpertorque_ dude, u're asking me after 2 years, I've totally forgot what vid and how i did it. Because my Sena broke anyways. 😅
Sorry can't help much, but maybe you can try look through his uploaded vids 2 years prior.
Where's the link?
Do you have some video(motovlog) with voice from BT-S2? I want to hear how it sounds when you riding, i want it for ride with my girlfriend and for motovlogs.
Gained some respect for how you mentioned how you have gain some profit if we use the link, I think I already mentioned how I lost respect because chase doesn't mention it.
Hi Yammie, have you used the Sena SR-10 adapter? Would it be possible to connect this BT-S2 unit to the Sena SR-10? (I want to use them with a 2-way radio). Or could you suggest an alternative to do that? Thanks!
Just FYI, this product is on a flash sale right now for only 32 bucks. There's about 4 days left until it goes back to a whopping 42 dollars!
I also liked PistnRods review. It was very honest. It takes real, honest, constructive criticism to
properly review and hopefully improve a product. Also, he didn't shill.
How do you switch between riders if you are riding with 3 people and can only link between 2 at a time? Thanks, Dave
