    I miss my Haitian mother in laws cooking. She lives between Miami and Haiti and we live in California so I don’t have access to a lot of the ingredients. You made the sos pwa just like Hers. That chicken looks so delicious too. I am going to binge all your videos and make some food for my hubby. Haitian food is so underrated.

    I'm going to save the black bean skin leftover after the straining in a Ziploc freezer bag. I'll add some into my burger pattie meat to help make it stretch and add some fiber and filler. Great recipe thanks! 😍

    So Sorry For Your Loss, Can Get The Full recipe ? And Where Can We Get The Pure coconut From? Can We Find It At Walmart? Also How Long should We keep The black bean cook for before we blend it? After we blend it how long do we cook it for? Please and thank you

      BeanTown Pretty93 ... yes, you can purchase the pure coconut from Walmart, it is usually next to the Jamaican items. I cooked beans about 1 1/2 hour on low heat until they were very soft.

    For butter I suggest Irish butter. It's super clean. Vegan organic and only 2 ingredients not a bunch

      Cici J ..yes you can leave the coconut out, and there is no substitute for it.

      Yes, you can flow the same steps, I like to add a little Adobo seasoning to my red bean sauce.

    How long do you boil the beans for? How long does it take until the beans get soft?

      I cook it on #2 for about an hour but it all depends on the temperature of your stove.

      I strained the ones I blended to remove the residue from the beans. I remove the residue because I want the final product to have a smooth consistency. I didn’t strain the the other batch of cooked beans because they were whole.

      You might have reduce it too much but you could have fixed it by just adding some hot water and let t cook for a few more minutes more.

    Looks great however too much oil & salt because pure coconut butter is oil and the chicken boullion Maggie has salt. Always be mindful that seasoning has a lot of salt be careful due to high blood pressure.

      @@Chrissiesingh ...i had a caption up saying to cook beans until tender....the amount of beans or water is based on the amount of people you're serving. You can soak or not soak beans. You can soak beans or just cook them, it doesn't affect the outcome One Way nor another. I don't cook with measurementa, I eyeball everything.

I happen to be raised and one of those homes. I received many comments where they'd tried my dishes and they came out perfect without an actual recipe.

      PoloMateo ...no, if you notice I didn't blend all the beans and in order to keep it smooth you must strain it. It was full of nutrients, after all its a pot of pureed beans.

    You said it all "nice & simple ". Too much seasonings in the black bean sauce defeats the purpose. This recipe is simple and authentic and so you get the full flavor of the bean since it's not being overpowered by too much seasoning. This is what makes sos pwa so special...otherwise, what's the point?

    I don't strain it personally because you are losing a lot of the healthy fiber

      What is destroying the protein, fiber iron, and vitamins are boiling the beans. Straining it doesn’t cause you to lose the nutrients. Straining it is optional! I strain it for a smoother consistency!!
