I was interested in Mangrove swamps because normal swamp biome 5000 blocks away from spawn unlikely. but soon I realized that clearing those nasty trees is pain, chopping doesn't work and burning is even worse - floating block issue. but luckily I fund end of the river located in mangrove biome edges. area above the water 2 by 2 chunks perfectly fits the farm.

A 3 wide bottom slab ring around the spawning plattform increase the rates. it has something to do with group spawning. Mobs are mostly spawned in groups. Where an spawn attempt occurse is random and only after checking if a block is chosen for a spawn it checks if it is possible there (light level, transparent blocks, full blocks, etc.).
With a ringe around it a block of the ring can be choosen and the group spawn attempts can be IN the spawning chamber. But on the outer ring nothing will spawn because of the half blocks (bottom slab).
Also killing time is crucial. Magmablocks are an old way to do this (because over years nothing else existed, except stuff, that burned the items. Magmablocks do only 2 damage (a full heart) per second. Meanwhile the newer Campfires do the same damage, but they incinerate the mob and that makes an additional 1 damage per seconds. Soul campfires makes 4 damage base + 1 burning damage. The mobs die faster, therfore the mob cap is faster emptied and the next mobs can spawn.
Specialy with the slowness of slime it takes a while until they are falling into the pit. The mobcap is mostly full. Killing them faster is a good way for higher rates.
Interestingly would be another design, so the mobs dosn't have to travel so far. I imagine 3 to 6 wide slices of spawning spaces with a flush system or shifting floors. Maybe a combination of soulcamp fires with entity cramming (if this is possible, I don't know).

What do you mean around the spawning platform? Are you thinking of above the killing chamber?

Work pretty well in purpur server, if you having some issues with skeleton spawn n kill golem then just toggle f3, check client-light, make sure it from 1-7 if its 0 then place a lichen up to it
Built it in emerald blocks and copper slabs to get that green blobbish sensation. After testing, i'm not sure if I forgot some lichens or if the copper slabs tik turning to rusty copper destroyed them... but squeletons killed my golem ^^ Rebuilt using mossy stone slabs for the lichen support so it stays greenish. Also modified the killing pit, alternating a row of magma block/wither roses so that they get both effects and die faster ( I hope ^^ not sure it works but I try ). Also extended the rails one more block each side to be sure it gets all the loot, I spoted some stuck when close to the walls.

you can replace the lichen with brown mushrooms. They put of 1 light level so that other mobs can't spawn, but slimes can. Ilmango has an example, but its a brown mushroom on the spawning platform on every block
do torches not also work for this? What's the point of the glow lichen/mushrooms anyways? Is this something to do with the swamp biome itself or...?
@@joeaustrian6473 Brown mushrooms or glow lichens give off light level too bright for standard hostile mobs to spawn but dark enough for slimes to spawn
(In 1.18 or 1.19, hostile mobs spawn in light level 0 and only light level 0. While slimes spawn in light level 7 or lower

another thing to mention is that you can build more than 1 layer if you want to
just follow from 4:12 to 7:37 as much as you want, the follow 7:37 onwards to finish the build
lastly, placing soul campfires at the bottom will be more effective since it deals double the damage of magma blocks

I must've done something wrong and need help. I am having regular mobs spawn in there as well. Especially skeletons which are damaging the iron golem. Any help???

Fantastic farm, I am new to Java edition and this was so simple to build, instructions clear thank you! Tip for anyone building in mangrove swamp, use a fabric mod called tree harvester to make clearing the trees easier and use the mangrove roots you collect to build a platform at the correct y level before you build the farm.

And today I build it again in My hardcore world i didnt finish yet but good to know its working
IMPORTANT: if anyone is going to build this farm it will not work in 1.20.4 UNLESS you place redstone torches in the exact same spot where the lichen is but obviously placing the torches on the dirt floor. If so, the farm should prevent mobs from spawning and killing your iron golem. I tested it for a while and realized that chamber would spawn mobs that would kill the golem. But the redstone torches prevent this from happening. Its a simple fix (52 redstone torches exactly).
Place redstone torches underneath the lichen for the farm to work. Enjoy!

I’ve literally rebuilt the entire thing and it’s still only producing up to a stack (rarely that much) a night.
✅ I’m completely in the swamp biome
✅ the only lights inside are brown mushrooms on every block except where the gollum is standing. I was getting less results when I followed the lichen pattern.
✅ I’ve made a scaffolding tower going up to sit afk. I’ve tested and I get best results at 100-120 high and worse any higher or lower.
Also I’m in Java!

You can use other solid blocks (No glass) in place of the stone bricks he's using. But you have to use dirt for the platform.
For people who are playing on 1.18, you should build your afk platform higher. I didn't get anything in the recommended Y level but I built it higher. Currently it's at Y level 185 and I'm getting a really good amount of slime in a short amount of time. Also, I don't know if this was helpful or not but instead of glow lichen, you can use brown mushroom and cover the entire floor. I think you'll need about 14 stacks. You can find 1 mushroom and just bone meal it, get a bigger one and chop it down. Repeat this process until you have enough mushroom
Edit: I got over 5 stacks of slime in like 5 minutes at Y level 185. It's OP

For anyone who is thinking why this farm ain't working or their golem is dying unnecessarily, these could be the reasons:
1. version:
your version should be above 1.18 since mobs can only spawn at light level 0, but slime remains at 0-7 light level. In older versions, both used to spawn at same light level.
2. placement of lichens:
your lichens should be placed according to the video. This maintains the light level to "6"
3. path blocks:
the path blocks should be traced according to the video, as the path block contains light level "0". but since path block is 15/16th of a block, it does not allow mob to spawn.
there could be other possible reasons such as mods, plugins, etc. I tried to point out the major issues here, hope this helps
also don't forget there's link of world in description, try that out yourself if u find it difficult!

it DOES work in 1.21! you just need to follow EVERY SINGLE STEP, not miss anything and you should be good to go.
note: remember to nerf mobs spawn by placing torches/slabs next to the farm (around 32 blocks to each side)
Keep this in mind:
The farm also is affected by the moon phases (in minecraft)
During a full moon you will get the most, but on a new moon you get none.

1. Check height of afk spot and slab
2. Check glow lichen placement
3. Use soul Campfires
4. Check if golem is alive

@@Ruben._g I think I just kept it on my normal simulation distance and it worked fine. Although I don't think I'm the person who would now if there was a specific number that worked best. (I was also playing on a multiplayer server while everyone was offline if that changes anything)

@@LazionYT btw normal campfire may give out more light than a soul campfire, which will make the blocks near the golem unable to spawn slime.
Just build this on my 1.21.1 survival world (Java), works perfectly ! I followed the instructions exactly. My swamp had no ground, so I spend ages making a platform at the correct y level and removing all the water/trees (not sure if this was necessary or not haha!). Luckily I have pretty much infinite cobblestone from ilmango's tnt duper design. Thanks for the tutorial ! Great quality as always ;)
For all the bedrock users, here is why its not working. Most bedrock players play on a simulation distance of 4, if you dont then this does not apply to you. slimes spawn when you are 24 block away and on a sim distance of 4 they despawn at 44 blocks away. So what you need to do to make this farm work on bedrock is only place between 25 and 43 blocks of scaffolding. I did mine at 30 blocks and it does not get the rates likes this one because caves and things are still loaded in but it does work. I guess only when using the farm you can turn your sim distance up to get better rates but that is up to you. I get about 250-300 slimes an hour with this farm. What I would recommend for bedrock players is to find a creator that does bedrock content and use one of their farms instead because this farm is just too much for what you get out of it.

Yup, but it's hard to remove and hard to place glow liches couse water will push you and its getting hard

@Amenus Galab the thing is slime spawn 7 times more if the light level is 1, than if the light level is 7 and glow lichen give a higher light level
Ilmango has a vid where he experiments with this concept. Mushrooms win, but not by a lot. It is considerably easier to get mushrooms than lichen, however, because you can get a lot with bone meal and farming giant mushrooms.
im not getting any spanws, my afk platform is at 191 which is the right amount after being on y 71 on the top of the farm where the golem is stationed, any tips? does the dirt have to be dirt or can it be grassy dirt, not sure what i did wrong lmk
It should be on 190 then.
I know this sounds stupid, but this build is really optimized so that you dont have any problems with possible caves below.
Because of that, one block can make the difference between farm working and not working, because the mobs might despawn when they drop down the hole in the middle instead of getting killed by the magma blocks.
So just lower your afk position by 1 or 2 blocks.

Yea, just built it and I think it's a bit more efficient. Ran it for 5 hours and got over 6 double chests.i did adjust the killing chamber to have magma blocks on the bottom and added more powdered snow.

For how easy this farm is and the incredible amount of slime it puts out, this might be the most op farm in the game

@@thesilentpearl8575 i mean i didn't follow the shulkercraft tutorial but it looks like the same farm i built, and i was alone on my realm, after afking for less than 2 hours i got like 10 stacks of slime blocks, and unless we're ilmango thats literally enough for the lifetime of a server, bottom line is this farm is insane

probably dumb question ahead: does the farm works ONLY if I afk up there or can i peacefully attend other in game business while the farm Is running?
Its much more ideal to just afk.. The rates are very poor if you're doing other things at ground level
Yeah, you'd have to light up all of the caves below. The point of the AFK platform is to put you far enough away from the caves that anything below ground will naturally despawn.
If you're at ground level and haven't lit up the caves, not only will your rates be pretty low, they'll get progressively lower the longer you are in the area and haven't left to despawn mobs (because every time the game spawns a new mob, it will check all available spawnable blocks - some of those will be in your farm initially, but over time more spawns will happen in caves until the cap is reached and nothing else spawns in the farm).

I'd probably include a system to turn the hopper minecart system on/off, but that's because I don't like having them run when the farm isn't in use as that's just extra lag and noise.
you can just add a lever instead of a redstone torch next to the powered rail at the end and use it as the on off switch. pretty simple
use campfires then u can just use hoppers under them without mine carts
You'd need like 49 hoppers to cover the same area - that many hoppers is likely to be more laggy than just the single hopper minecart, especially if you add an off-switch.
what if im on a server and the render distance is 6 chunks max? (i already made the farm)

Bit late now but yes and have u checked the phase of the moon in game? Slime spawn much more at full moon and not at all during new moon
