A really great and informative review! Thanks so much for sharing your honest thoughts on the J505RP Extreme Heated Jacket- and we wish you many happy, safe and warm miles ahead!
Went to the Sportsbike shop to purchase the comfort vest (basic one), went home with the premium vest but next day went back to shop and upgraded to the premium extreme jacket. Yet to try it in anger but first impressions are good. Nice touch having a controller with the jacket
I’ve been a fan of heated clothing for many years. I bought my Keis jacket back in 2015 and I can say it is the best item of heated clothing that I’ve owned. After 8yrs of use it still looks the same as when I bought it. The 3 heat settings are great and you will only need the highest setting in artic temperatures. I have a socket wired in on both my bikes and it means you don’t have to layer up and look like Michelin man, you simply adjust the temperature as required 👍
I’ve got one this year Paul and I agree with everything you covered 100%. Got the shorter heated gloves too so with heated grips my hands are great 360*. Great review!
@@gsd32i EU Certified 2015. There’s probably a bit of a compromise on the material compared to safety leather can provide, but the knuckle armour is good and I like the palm slider which seems same as my excellent Knox gloves sliders. Could do with the same protection along outside hand/finger… Very comfortable overall and with the heat it makes it an absolute pleasure like you found with the great jacket you reviewed and of course, they just plug into the jacket wiring (I’m sure you know that though…). Cheers!
Just received the same jaket and need to say the same issue with misalignment of the fuse slots. Almost broke the fuse at the first time. What I can recommend is to use as first like 3 Ampers and then when slots are more opened then gentle install the proper fuse. Now we have 5°C with strong wind and Low leve of the heating l is more than enough. From some reason Keis iConnect is switching off so I can't use Bluetooth connection with my phone. Quality of the Jaket absolutely TOP. Greetings from 🇨🇭
I have one. It's powered through the Ezcan. When you switch the ignition off, say when you are stopping to fuel up then switch the ignition on again to ride off the jacket doesn't power on again without using the controller. I find turning it on/off quite fiddly so this really annoying. The Gerbing jacket remembers the last setting, so when you power the bike off, then on again it goes to what it was last set to. I'm going to try and control mine through the EZcan as you can now program one output as Heated Clothing so I have 5 levels of heat not 3, and replaced the controller on the jacket with the loop connector. See how it goes.
@@gsd32i Via the heated grip settings on the dash. You set the Cansmart output to heated clothing, then it recognises there are 5 heat settings. So you can make each one a percentage of the output, up to 100%.. My GS has 5 levels of heated grips, not 2. If it had only 2 I would stick to the controller on the jacket and have it connected just as an accessory to the Ezcan.
I like the look of it and having used it and gone for the snug fit it's a great bit of kit.Against the Keis recommendations I don't wear a long sleeved garments under it but a t-shirt etc and I have not been burnt yet! But clearly against what they officially say. I haven't got the trousers ...yet. Looks nice off the bike too.
Thanks Paul - very informative as always. These are definitely on the list to buy - but does amp draw become an issue if adding jackets and gloves for rider and pillion?
Hi Gary, I wish I was an expert on this. I think the vests only take 1.2-1.4 amps so they could easily be plugged into the power socket for the pillion even with gloves that'll be about 3 amps total , on the for the GS.
Cheers Paul - appreciate the feedback - I’m thinking that by the time my wife plugs in jacket, gloves, trousers and socks the headlight may be somewhat dim 😬
Gary , check the Keis website as they have splitter cables etc so possible to power 2 riders by 1 power cable on the battery ......more brownie points with a warm and comfortable wife on the back.😂
Hi Gary, both the Mrs and I run the jacket, gloves and insoles with no problem. Only difference is I’ve chopped the cables and run them through the Ezcan, purely due to having a free circuit and it’s one less thing I needed to connect to the battery as I’ve got a K3, weiser turn signals, ezcan and battery charger all connected already. Everything works with no problems but I do connect the battery to a ctek after every ride.
Hi, I have just come back from a little 4 day tour of france, where in the morning the temperature was about 9-10 degrees C. The jacket was very good , in fact it was bloody brilliant. School boy error ...I just wore motorcycle jeans and should of worn the matching bottoms of my touring jacket...anyway it was all fine and I was nice warm on my top half, seated heat and grips on my BMW R1250GS.
I was looking at heated jackets and after your review purchased the keis jacket, same issue with power cable which is being replaced......I am on a BMW r1250r....my screen keeps saying remote fob not in range when I turn jacket on.....have you had this issue with your GS ? Warning goes off when I turn the jacket off....
I have used the Keis 1.5A vest with the 1A inner glove liners for a few years now. Superb gear.

Thanks, used it last month when I did the Normandy Landing beaches tour, cold and frosty in the morning first thing, but with the jacket, no problem 👍

Best bit of kit I have purchased , I just wear a t-shirt underneath ( goes against what Keis say i know) simply brilliant .
Looks a nice jacket for off the bike too. Just got the body warmer version for Christmas and can’t wait to try it
Enjoy. Wouldn't be without mine. Best money (probably )ever spent!

Thanks very much . Are the heated gloves good from a protection point of view ?

Great review. Thanks

How you getting on with the jacket controlled with the grips? Just setting my hex ezcan up now and wondering if this worked ok
Good review of the latest Keis Heated Jacket. Apart from buying British, what pointed you towards Keis, rather than Warm n' Safe or Macna Jackets ?

Rukka forsair gloves , best gloves I have owned too date 👍
How do you stay warm on legs wearing jeans? Does the jacket heat your body enough so you don’t feel cold on legs?

Have a look on the Keis website, £200 plus P+P

Anyone tried the Macna Centre jacket. Would be interested to see how it stacks up against this Keis
6 degrees yesterday and the Keys was lovely . Whatever people get its better than being cold 😂
