I would so join you with that dankius fish competition sounds like so much fun. I want to get into BFFs so bad man but some of these wheels are so freaking expensive and there's so many different options because I'd be just getting into baitcasting I don't honestly know which one
I'm surprised to hear that you consider the 5'6" defy silver ultralight a moderate action. The Fenwick eagle 5'6" ultralight is what I consider to be more of a moderate action. I like the hi-viz yellow line you were using, what was it? I like fishing Ethan's donkey tail jr but still having learning curve rigging that elastic/stretching plastics.
@@aaanglers Yeah, I would also consider it more of moderate fast action. Good rod for the price point. I like it so far. I took your advice and put an Okuma Inspira ISX 20b on it!
Where I live in pa I don't get to do much creek fishing but I travel alot with work and I was in southern pa and there was a creek near the hotel I was staying in and man that's so much fun I wish I can do it all the time
Was just at Blain's farm and fleet, got myself a defy silver ultra light for 20% off. Considering I stepped on my Abu Garcia vigilante just recently, it was a no brainer to pick up and try. First 13 fishing product I've picked up.
Since I moved here in the Ozarks 20+ yrs ago I do a lot of wading in the rivers here. The fish here are about the same as they are there. Constant action & a good amount of spotted bass & smallies
What size braid and leader line are you using? If I was stuck on the bank fishing would a longer rod cast further? or is it more in the casting technique?
What river is this or what rivers can this be done in? I live in southern MI and have never river fished but would love to take a trip up north with my son's and experience it. I also have a Defy Silver ultralight that I love to panfish with.
How’d you like the smallie action? What should we do next?
What reel are you running? And what line? I am digging that set up!!

Power pro line. It's Mod Fast, most ultralights seem to be that way. Makes casting much easier

What line were you using? Going to buy an ultalight setup and curious.
Look up Varivas Braid from Bait Finesse Empire. Really high quality stuff!
Very sweet man definitely have to get some of those can't wait for the other new ultralight setup vid keep it up man
Bought the Defy 13 a year ago. Great rod for trout.

Good video Jeff! Thanks!
Love me some smallie action
Nice catches. Thanks for videos.
Hi. Great video. Do You have problems (cut thru) with steinless steel rod guides on Defy Silver UL rod when You fishing with braid line?
Thanks! No problems
Awesome video, looks like a super fun time
Another good 1 to use for a river system I use it is a skirted double tail grubs
What size braid and leader line are you using? If I was stuck on the bank fishing would a longer rod cast further? or is it more in the casting technique?
8 lb braid, 6 lb fluoro leader. Longer rod with better technique will get you distance
@@aaanglers Thank You!
What up bud doing the same thing down here in ohio on the maumme river
If u even wana travel close bring the yaks fish the MAUMME bro. Monster smallies
What part of Maumme? I am around Fort Wayne. I know the catfish are monsters around there.
With all those tadpoles there you should have brought your Nikko tadpoles and tried them out!
I did have them and drop shotted at the dam but no luck
Nice video and ultra lite. What line are you using.
8 lb high vis power pro braid, 6 lb fluoro leader
Good look on the rod tip off been looking for a nice cheaper priced rod for my two boys

I fish the Huron, Flint, Grand, Flat, etc. Works on ALL Of them
@@aaanglers Thanks
What reel do you recommend to match that ultralight rod?
Okuma Inspira
@@aaanglers This model ISX-20B?
Man I can't buy a fish this season. Things are so bad for me I'm ready to just throw in the towel for season already. 😧😧
Hang in there man!
@@aaanglers I'm trying
Does it matter on the river if you fish with the current or against?
Not always. Usually fish up stream, 45 degrees to current and 90 degrees to current is good
i need a good ultra light
