    This story is now canon in my LEGO Pirates imaginary. I got the new Eldorado set not long ago and when I got to the hidden letter while building it this was everything I could think about. Thanks so much for such an amazing video!

    That was so cool! I've seen full length movies with fewer twists and turns. Great soundtrack and lots of wonderful details like the bullet splashes. Loved the "for the king" and "for me" piles of gold. The use of the two different monkeys early on was fun. Wonderful work!

    • @IronhookFilms
      @IronhookFilms  2 місяці тому +2

      @flitterbat, thanks a lot for your comment! ☺️ I am super happy that you liked all these details. The money piles are a small reference to the comic book „Asterix in Switzerland“. The governor there has similar tax paying habits as Broadside. As Broadside is french in my movie, I felt that a small reference to a classic french comic is very fitting😃.

      Thanks a lot @Wowslegendsfan! I had a lot of fun building it. In the center is the Scary Pirate Island (40597). I surrounded it with a small island and added a lot of coins from the 80ies/90ies 🙂.

    Great video! The music as great, I've not seen a lot of Lego pirate stop motion videos use sea shanties. I also loved the inclusion of the original Eldorado Fortress with the new version.

    • @IronhookFilms
      @IronhookFilms  2 місяці тому +2

      @swampy5222 Thanks a lot! I am very happy to hear that. The titles of two sea shanties also match to the part of the movie they are in: The first shanty is "Spanish Ladies" and I believe it fits to the Spanish part of the story. When the pirates have to free their colleague, I used "don't forget your old shipmate". Of course the lyrics do not match. But at least the titles do 🙂. I was also very happy that the new Eldorado Fortress is very faithful to the orignal. This allowed me to use them both to show that the fortress would change over time.

    I like how you added the Franco Dutch war

    • @IronhookFilms
      @IronhookFilms  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks a lot! I liked to develop a small historical background to my story (even though not much of it is actually seen in the movie). First I needed a conflict between the Spanish and the French that happened during the fictional lifetime of my Lego characters. The Franco Dutch War started in 1672. However, Spain only was involved from 1673 onwards, which made me pick 1674 as the year of the French attack. The war ended in 1678 with a French victory. After the 9 years' war in 1697 France and her enemies were financially exhausted and signed the treaty of Rijswijk. Interesting for my scenario was that in that treaty Spain recognized French control over Saint-Domingue. Thus even though both wars largely focused on Europe, things must have happened in the colonies that fit quite well to my storyline.

    I see someone read the whole lore of Lego pirates... Nice! :3

    • @IronhookFilms
      @IronhookFilms  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks a lot @cheemsamsiedad! I indeed did quite some research on the available lego lore. But I have to admit that I take extreme liberties with it: generally I took only the names of sets and characters as a given. Beyond that I treated the lego lore more as an inspiration than as canon. Both of my movies play in the same „world“ though and the dates used in them match.

    • @cheemsamsiedad
      @cheemsamsiedad Місяць тому +1

      @IronhookFilms Understandable. Still, it was nice to see all the small easter eggs, both about the Lego pirates lore and real history as well.
      Plus your animation style reminds me of classic Lego animations. So much nostalgia, can't wait to see more!

    • @IronhookFilms
      @IronhookFilms  2 місяці тому

      @Futuristicbleh, thanks a lot! ☺ In the first half of the movie I use the original Eldorado Fortress (6276) from 1989. In the second half of the movie I use the new one (10320) from 2023. On it's left I placed the Lagoon Lockup (6267) from 1991 and on its right a MOC that is based on the Lego Idea Book 260 from 1990. I feel that the three give a very nice ensemble.

    Was 8:40 an Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag reference?

    • @IronhookFilms
      @IronhookFilms  Місяць тому

      @Andrew.The.Culture.Nerd. Yesssss!!!! I am very happy that you noticed it 😊. The reference is very subtle as I could not fit in a haystack in a meaningful way. And even though I bought an assassins creed like hood, it did not make it into the movie as I felt that having her put it on would make the scene too long. But I could not make a pirates movie without making a reference to under the black flag 🏴‍☠️☺️

    Hey during 4:40 what is the set to the right of the eldorato fortruss

    • @IronhookFilms
      @IronhookFilms  2 місяці тому

      @Jsandstuff, in 1990 Lego released the „Ideas Book 260“, which contained alternative builds for all their themes. The little fortress is from there. I did not build it 1:1 because I do not have all the parts needed. www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?B=260#T=S&O=%7B%22iconly%22:0%7D

      Sure. In order of appearance: 6244 Armada Sentry (though at the time of filming I did not yet have the green doors), 6276 Eldorado Fortress, 6274 Caribbean Clipper, 10320 Eldorado Fortress, 6267 Lagoon Lock-Up, a small fortress and a sailboat inspired by the Lego Idea Book 260, the Micro Black Seas Barracuda MOC by Veyniac, 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay, 40597 Scary Pirate Island, and the 21325 Medieval Blacksmith. Some smaller setups I built myself in order to connect the sets etc.

      The voice is Peter Baker (www.englishvoice.tv/ ). You may have heard him in other Brickfilms too. E.g. LCM Brick Show worked with him in several of his movies (one example here: ua-cam.com/video/B-vC_FdNcXo/v-deo.html). I like his work a lot and am super happy that he could do the voice over in my movie.
