A reminder if you haven’t started yet
Me and my drift don’t talk anymore, the breakup was rough
Sorry to hear.
You have a very informative and fun channel to watch, thank you for the videos you make
@@JohnDoe-zh8tj Thanks for watching.
Hopefully you guys are on the mend. 😅
Fly fishing is simply amazing! It takes you away to sum where special…..Thank You for the advice-Wow!
Thanks for being here. We agree!
Live in Western NC and love it.
Thanks for being here.
That’s great advice and I like the way it’s worded thanks Brian
Thanks for watching.
Loved all these videos 6 years ago, after a year of watching these, I just had to get out there and do it, haven’t watched tutorials since. Had I not watched, probably would have just learned everything naturally. I used to think I could only catch fish in the creeks and shallow rivers but I decided to venture out into lakes, deep big rivers and brackish water in the bay and out in the sound and been catching fish everywhere. Turns out, even on a horrible presentation and sloppy cast, if you give it a minute, the fish will forget and take that presented fly as well!!
Thanks for watching. Much appreciated.
Mac is a good man!
Thanks for watching. Brian used to fish with him alot.....many moons ago.
Glad to see that I’m not the only person using a vest these days.
No worries.....vests are alive and well. We sell a ton of them!
Love It !
Absolutely Love It !
Thanks for being here.
Man, that's a nice cast. That's exactly what I need to do.
Thanks for being here. You CAN!!!!
I was tired of talking... that's why I started Euro nymphing.
Thanks for watching.
No talking required! English won't work anyways.
When ibgave my kids my fky rods they caught so many fish because they would work the line without even realizing it. it was so fantastic to watch... My daughter was 3 and caught a hige trout, she then drops my rod and runs to get a big rock to to bonk it on the head.... I did a head dive to save my rod! ❤❤❤ She caught a gorgeous rainbow!
Thanks for being here and thanks for sharing.
i’ll stick to my spinning reel but thanks
Thanks for watching!
I do that. Helps
Me stay engaged. I do it when rowing too so the guy fishing stays engaged as if they r not interested, I’ll fish and they can paddle
Thanks for watching.
putting upwards or downwards mends jn the line is critical when river fishing.
it works on still waters if there's high wind.
Thanks for watching.
@@Madriveroutfitters aye try sharing them aswell.👍
I will share
Does it respond to curse words? Cause that’s what I wind up using the most.
Of course.
I cast upstream sometimes, so that my fly floats ALL the way down the stream past me. Keeping slack in the tippet. The more natural the better.
Thanks for watching.
He wrote a good book
Thanks for being here.
Love the advice
Thanks for being here!
Bomb advice..
Thanks for watching.
"Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy!?"
That's certainly one approach.....assuming your drift is male.
@@Madriveroutfitters aha well if it works, it works 😂 and you’re right I shouldn’t have assumed the flies gender… duly noted 🤣
Funny… my channel is going to have a lot of talking to drift, fish, and just wildness that comes out of my mouth when nature takes my filter away! Couldn’t be more fitting 😂
Thanks for being here!
I’ve been having some trouble with the line doing exactly that
Thanks for watching.
I talk to the fish and tell them they’re hungry and to eat…….60% of the time, it works every time😜😬🤣😇🎣
Exactly! Well said.
Yep..
Thanks for being here.
You work a fly rod as naturally as walking down the street... dang...
Thanks for being here.
Are you not worried about twitching your line too much and pulling or twitching the fly itself?
@@cheesecream8472 Depends on what kind of fly/drift? Feel free to call or e-mail Brian directly though as he would be happy to discuss. He can surely explain better.
What do you think if I sing to it? Or read a poem?
Not a bad idea! Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
Hmm... I was taught to keep my fly line off the water...
For a cast any longer than the leader....that becomes virtually impossible?
@@Madriveroutfitters yep. Reckon so. I'm usually in small creeks. Nothing like this one in the video. I've got a tan colored fly line. Maybe it won't spook one too bad. Might try a bigger piece of water sometime.
Hey Brian! Me and a buddy are about to go on a great smoky mountains 3 day backcountry fly fishing trip. Any advice for the Cades Cove abrams creek area? We’ve done a lot of research but you’re the best in the biz!
Thanks for watching. Please send your questions directly to Brian at the shop. He’ll be happy to help. You can email him or call him.
Be sure your buddy is with you if you fish the shoe! Horseshoe that is.
You sound like broadly Bradley cooper
@@javijimenez413 They are friends….so could be.
Seems like there would be a phrase more accurate than “talk to it”…
@@katietrotter9374 There is. This is just one video with just one example.
I understand orange line is easy (for us) to see but does it make difference to the fish?? I need fly line (beginner) and see you using orange and wonder if thats just so we can see what you're doing or if that's actually what you use when you fish?? Thanks!!!
He always uses the Bright Orange lines whenever possible. If you check out his fishing videos, you will mostly see him using the Bright Orange.
Can someone suggest the best beginner fly rod/reel combo? I keep seeing the Orvis Clearwater combo mentioned as a good option. I'm new to fly fishing and will need a rig that can hit the north GA, NC streams as well as FL freshwater.
Sure! Give a call to the shop and they will be happy to help. That’s what they do!!!!
What size knucklehead should I get for a 8wt
Please send your questions directly to the shop and they will be happy to help. You can e-mail them or call them directly and they will be happy to help. We just don't have that information here. Thanks.
@Madriveroutfitters Welp your shop must be ass
My drift talks back to me... it tells me to go home because I'm a bad fisherman...
Should I get in contact with you for lessons ?
Or should I contact a psychiatrist ?
... my drift says psychiatrist ... 🙄😞
Either one is fine and acutally recommended. Thanks for being here.
What would be veeeerrry cool (but would take forever to record), is if, just as you got done talking, you had a fish on. I guess you could fake it.
Thanks for watching. It does happen.....just not often.
Took fly fishing advice from a football coach? Bold move cotton
Uh........
Mending. It’s called mending and it’s basic stuff.
Yes…..correct. If you watch the full video, it is on…….mending. This is just a snippet of that video where he calls it…..mending. 😉
What size rod is that?
Feel free to call or email Brian at the shop and he may remember? He doesn’t monitor comments here but does of course answer all questions through the shop. Thanks.
Your left hand becomes daintier and daintier as the video goes on.
A great mystery! How does he do that?
wow replies
Thanks for watching.
What do you say to it😂
All kinds of stuff! Thanks for watching.
I want to cash in my chips, live small and guide.
@@TylerLDurden sounds like a plan!
Less is more
Thanks for watching.
What are you saying to it? Lol
Mend. Good line. Mend again. Good line, etc.
Just like I do to my golf ball😎⛳️
Thanks for watching.
It's called MENDING
Context matters, this was on a video about contact vs non-contact fishing: ua-cam.com/video/3HTrbaBua6o/v-deo.htmlsi=9qZSffU_hgys6__x
He has talked about mending plenty of times in other videos. Such as this one: ua-cam.com/video/qWZ5bf3wMVA/v-deo.htmlsi=0nfE_hh4QrltPQiD
Talking versus mending ???? If you don't mend then your drift looks like crap . I guided the frying pan river for over a decade . Cast again
By "talking", he IS referring to mending and such. You might want to watch the full length video for more context?
